Arrival Story:
Roux saved my life, literally! I had been in a bad marriage for many years and it caused me to be very ill and depressed. When the marriage was finally ending and I didn't think I could take one more bad thing, I lost my sweet boy, Chaz just two weeks after my divorce was final. My co-workers said that they thought I was strong enough to deal with the divorce but losing the kitty was beyond devastating for me and they were very worried because I became suicidal. So they worked very hard trying to find me another Persian cuz I love them so. One of the ladies found Roux in Lake County, FL and they brought him to me as a teeny tiny kitten on July 4th of 1996. He was pink because he had knocked a red feather toy into his water bowl. He was such a holy terror and had health problems but he was a joy and because I had to keep up with him and all his antics and attacks I didn't have time to think about my problems. He was the best medicine ever and we have been through thick and thin together.

I was reading about Arnold getting his butt inspected regularly and how he is not appreciating it.

I totally understand the depth of indignity he is experiencing. My nethers are washed at least once a week these days. To make it worse, on Saturday, Mama asked the Dr Vet if it was possible to "SHAVE" my tummy.....I didn't know what shave was until it was happening....man oh man, I did NOT like it. I growled a LOT and it didn't make any difference. Mama kept saying I was a good boy, but if she had any idea what I was thinking at that moment....

I thought it was going to be over, but then.....It got WORSE!!! The Dr Vet said " How about a bikini buzz? Mama was nodding her head and then...ZOWIE!!! um....only that wasn't what I said (it's not repeatable). The tech kept saying "Oh no, he's got that superfine, curly Persian fur" and "Ugh, he's got Persian skin"....DUH! I am what I am! and I am FIERCE! ....only I didn't feel that way.

It was beyond any humiliation I have experienced and although I didn't hiss or bite I said every kitty bad word in the Unabridged Bad Kitty Words book!!!

Once it was over, I didn't even want to show my face. I hid in my towel and would not snuggle with Mama on the ride home. No amount of kisses or banana yogurt made up for it.

Arnold and I both know that hoomans certainly don't like their nethers inspected cuz both our moms work in the medical field but does that stop them??? NO! They use the excuse that they are being good moms and taking care of us.....sure, whatever! grrrrrrrr!

I've Had Enough of the Boomin!

I don't know if our city did or didn't have fire works. Mama nevers goes cuz she doesn't like mosquitos and if there are any within a five mile radius they find her...or so she has told me.

If there weren't any, you would never know it from all the noise out there. In our neighborhood, I can only assume that people start buying fireworks a couple of weeks in advance and then a few days before July 4th they just can't wait. They have to start lighting stuff each night.

By the time July 4th gets here, you would think Neo and I would be used to all the booming and popping and the scary lights outside but we aren't. As soon as the noise gets too scarey, Neo climbs on Mama and wraps around her neck. I just scootch until I am stuffed between her feet wherever she is sitting or standing. Sometimes she picks me up so she has us both on her, one in each arm.

Last night there was so much booming and lots and lots of stuff flying through the back yard and up and down the street in front. We couldn't get away from it for hours and it lasted until 2:00 a.m. Hissss! (which I did several times). We were all snuggled together on the couch whether Mama wanted to or not.

Tonight it is like its the 4th all over again. Those annoying morons....er, neighbors need to get over it already. I am sure both Neo and I have lost lots of sleep this weekend and Mama has to get up early for work.

I've been sitting here trying to figure out a way to get back at them but the only bad thing I have access to are hairballs and eeeeewwww,.....I don't want to touch them.... so thats out. For a kitteh who's suppose to be celebrating Independence, I am feeling kinda powerless.....meh!

What A Week!!!

My Mama has been sick all week with that icky stuff that humans get when their faces leak and explode, and they sleep way too much.

I told Mama this evening that the amazing Hazel Lucy (how she keeps up with all of us is so pawsome) was asking about me and Neo said Antoine asked him how I was doing. Inquiring minds are asking, so I gotta tell em!

I have had a pretty interesting week! I went all last weekend without needing to get extra fluids. I have been eating my food through the syringes which Mama says, in a way, she likes cuz she knows exactly what is getting in my tummy and I am drinking water and nibbling my crunchies. I have even had a few days walking better so I have been able to follow Mama around and I get her to pick me up whenever I can. Last night I purrrred and purrrred for the first time in about 4 weeks....it makes Mame leak even more.

On Monday, I got VACUUMED!!!! Yup, thats right! Mama was cleaning the base boards with the hose and I came right up (wanting to be picked up) and that ole vacuum didn't phase me at all. So she picked me up and then.......slurrrppp! I got vacuumed, and I LIKED IT!! I just laid there while she gave me a little punk rock hairdo. I think it didn't bother me cuz its the vintage Electrolux that doesn't sound scary, just a little swishy and hummy.

The MOST fun I have had is splashing like crazy in the water bowl. I always used to sorta tap the surface to figure out the water level but this is a whole new game and I am getting it everywhere and making lots of noise and getting totally soaked. In fact, I get upset when the level in the bowl gets a little low and as soon as she fills it up, I commence to splashing....WAHOOOO! I heard Mama say its another thing she would never have expected from me and she is so grateful she didn't miss it.

I think I heard the water bowl getting filled...I gotta get busy!! Later
