#3 of DDP

Oh my. This is the third time this month I'm a DDP. And not once for Lena MOL! Daddy slept in today and just saw it. This morning I was hiding on the bed when Lena came by to sit on Daddy. I jumped out and gave her a smackie paw and she ran away! I just want to play.

Yesterday Daddy planted some plants and seeds in pots outside. The weather was very nice. We had the windows open a long time. Some kids came by and I got to watch them. We had several kids move into our street this year. I don't mind them since sometimes they stop on the sidewalk to look at Lena and I.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

DDP again?!

Wow what a surprise to be a DDP for the second time in a month! Hooray for me!

We had a big storm last night with thunder and wind and loud rain drops. The creek outside our house rose up higher than I ever saw it. Fortunately we never lost power so the sump pump kept the water out of our house. Daddy did go to work because half the department was in training and the other half was at home with water in the basement. It was just him and the boss. At least it was a quiet day when so many people gone for the same reasons. He got to go home early because of the train delays. Everything is fine now but Daddy's happy he doesn't have to go to work tomorrow.

I outlasted Daddy!

Last night was the second Thursday of the month. That's when they trim pet's claws for $5. Daddy was going to take me there last night. But I didn't want to go. I knew he was going to try and snatch me up so I stayed out of reach. He tried everything but I stayed hidden and knew when to run until it was too late at night for us to go. And tonight Daddy was able to pick me up and put me in my carrier for a few seconds just to show he could do it and it doesn't always mean we're going somewhere. But I know better. I know when he's going to take me somewhere and I'm ready. I don't want to go and you can't make me!

I'm a DDP!

Hey! I'm a DDP again! Thanks to everyone who congratulated me. I was also listed as an "active poster" which is strange because I only posted twice in March. That's considered active?! Well who I am to say.

Things are normal here. Daddy opens the patio door more often so we can get some fresh air inside. Saturday went to the pet food store for more cat food and they remember him and they remembered me. I have to go back there for a nail trim.

The sad news is that my sister, Skeeter, is still waiting for her furever home. She's listed first here ml Daddy is not ready for a third kitty again and since she has tortie-tude she might not get along well with Lena or me for that matter. We really wish someone would adopt her.

That Chipmunk is Back

Last Saturday Daddy had his friends over again. But I was fixated on the patio where the chipmunk returned. It was up on the stoop in plain sight. One of Daddy's friends said I could be a hunter. But Daddy doubts it since I can be so timid. Give me a chance and I'll show you what kind of hunter I can be!

Happy Birthday to Me!

My birthday was yesterday. Daddy would have posted but he slept wrong and his back was hurting. I did get some yummy food and holding time while Daddy watched movies in the easy chair. My ears are getting better. But there's still the rest of this week to go before the medicine stops. I'm supposed to get them twice a day but I was able to avoid it a few mornings. I just KNOW when Daddy is trying to pick me up so I run away. We fought a few times so I'd take my medicine, but I think I've forgiven him.

Thanks to all who sent me birthday wishes. My birth and kittenhood were in horrible circumstances that still haunt me today. I'm still so skittish that I run to the basement when I hear a sudden loud noise. But I love people and hanging around when Daddy's friends come over. I love chewing on string even though it's bad for me. I love having a furever home with all the food, water, and affection I want. All kitties should be this lucky.

Ahhh the VET

Daddy took a day off work today to relax. He slept a little later than usual which was nice. I got some extra attention. He put some canned food on a plate for me and Lena but I didn't see it in time. Then he went down to get the other carrier. That can mean only one thing! I didn't know we were going until Lena took off. She's smart and if she's running, so am I. Daddy had to chase us up and down the house. He caught Lena first after chasing us out from under his bed. I gave him a tougher run, hiding in the basement three times and darting past him when he thought he had me trapped in the spare room! Eventually I got tired and hid under his computer desk. He didn't see me for a few minutes as he went back upstairs and took a rest. But he found me and dragged me out. We were late at the vet by five minutes. I made Daddy chase me for so long he was sweating and didn't need his coat despite it being cold outside.

The good news is that I'm in good health. I lost an ounce to 16# 8oz. The vet tech laughed as I tried to hide under the blanket. I got felt up and down. I didn't like it and squirmed a bit. During the break between the vet tech and doctor, I asked Daddy if I could get back in my carrier. It felt like the safest thing at the time.

The bad news is that I have a yeast infection in my both my ears. It's not as bad as Lena's but she has just one good ear. I have to get medicine in it twice a day for two weeks!! We're not sure how both of us got it since it's hard to transmit and why I have it in two ears while Lena just has it in one.

I was quiet on the way home too. Daddy brought me inside first and I was jumping against the top of the carrier hoping I could open it and get out. I've settled down now and find a nice spot for a nap. Thank catness this only happens once a year.

Back to get the claws trim

Tonight when Daddy got home from work, he scooped me up and put me in my carrier and carried me to the car. I know what this means. I'm off to get my claws trimmed. They have been getting long. At the pet food store where they have the trimming there was a loooong line. Longer than we have ever seen there. Who get's their claws trimmed on Valentine's Day? Well it was a lot of people. Not just cats and dogs but guinea pigs too!

Daddy talked with a lady who not only got her cats from Almost Home Foundation like me, but we also went to the same V-E-T. How cool is that? Anyway we had to wait about half an hour before it was our turn. They still remembered me because my coat is so beautiful (and I hide under my blanket). I squirmed a bit and almost got away once. They had a good grip on me. Dad worried I would panic and run outside into the cold night and get lost or hit by the cars on the road outside. Fortunately they knew what they were doing and I stayed firmly on the table until it was over.

Last time Daddy promised he wouldn't go to Taco Bell for dinner on the way home since it takes so long at the drive-thru. He kept his promise. Instead he tried to go to Burger King. But the BK closed down. We knew it was coming. The city had a news release months ago that it would be turned into a Walgreens or something (like there aren't enough of those around - it's like Starbucks!). Well it finally happened. It must have been recently too because the last time he drove by it was open. So we went to Mc'Ds instead. No line there. Just in and out and home.

Boy was I eager to get out of my carrier. I kept jumping up against the door to it during the few seconds it took between setting it down and opening it up. I've calmed down now. Now why is the carrier still here?

Thanks to all who gave us valentines! You guys are the best!

My bed and stuff

The people who watch us when Daddy is gone love the bed he gave them. Their doggie will sit on it and streeeetch with her front paws on the heat register. Hmmmm the best of both worlds. But the doggie of Daddy's friend who also got a bed didn't like it. The doggie is old so stretches out in both directions so the bed is too small for her. That's too bad.

For myself Lena and I have to share the bed. Even though we're not fighting as much since Sarge left, we're not good friends either. Oh, last month Daddy got a new office chair for when his friends come over. I said before how I like to sit in it. Well two weeks ago when they came over, no one took my chair. Instead they would spin the chair while I was in it! Wheeeee! I would look down at the floor and watch it go around and around! It was fun! We can go really fast because I have my claws and can hold on.

I hope your new year has gone well too.

I got my bed!

As Daddy promised he got me my own small doggie (now big kitty) bed. As he types for me, I am in my bed looking at him with half-closed eyes as I rest. It's roomy and fluffy and red. I really like it. Daddy got one for his other friend who has a small doggie who is rather old. I hope the doggie likes the gift bed as much as I like mine.
