Arrival Story:
I had lost two cats, had one left, and saw Norma as a Humane Society offering when I was at the pet store getting some more cat food. She reached her paw out of the cage and placed it on my then boyfriend's head, left it there. I had to have her. She just had the best personality, still does. If I'd known the other cat in the cage with her, a solid black kitty, was her brother, I'd have taken him too.

Bio:
Norma used to run outside when she was a kitten, scaring me immensely, but she became all indoors quickly. She loves to sit on our screened in porch and look at the birds and the trees. Although Norma is not purebred Maine Coon, she has most of the physical features and the personality characteristics. She's like a dog, following me from room to room, waiting by the door each day for me to return from work. She's extremely affectionate and loving, and loves to sit on the counter in the bathroom and watch me get ready for work each day. I'm updating this to add that Norma is 17 years old today, 03/17/07. She has lost a lot of weight, and suffers from chronic renal failure and inflammatory bowel disease, but she gets a lot of care and attention and is doing well. I love my girl so much. Updated to add that Norma was put to sleep on August 29, 2007, after she fell into a critical state of ill health, hypothermic from anemia, with high liver enzymes, extremely elevated white blood cell count, and high phosphorous levels. Unfortunately, she'd recently come under the care of a new veterinarian who did not take her full condition into account when prescribing new meds. Poor Norma girlie was suffering so I helped her go to sleep. She passed while I held her in my arms. My other cat Gladys, Norma's best friend, and I are mourning now, and miss our Norma so very very much.
