Arrival Story:
A friend invited us to come to the shelter where she volunteered. When we walked in, Mom T was handed Pookie (and Mom L was given this evil biting and scratching kitten!). Pooks was so happy to be out of her cage. She'd been there a long time, overlooked because she was a black cat and not a kitten. Mom T loved Pookie's mellow personality. Pookie never tried to get down - she was happy just to be out of the cage and in someone's arms. The thought of her being in a cage for so long without being able to run around or nap in the sun really got to us. The following weekend, we went back and adopted her. When we put her in the crate and drove home, she never stopped purring. You could tell she knew she was going home. Once home, we opened the door to the carrier and out she came. She excitedly checked out her new surroundings. When she encountered a dog, she gave an indifferent hiss and just continued to explore. She didn't care that we had dogs and other cats. She was HOME!
Bio:
Pookie doesn't nap, she chills. Every night around 10, she walks to the living room rug, falls on her side and plays with her tail. Pookie rarely plays with the other cats but keeps herself entertained with toys. She and Bosco have a love/hate relationship that only they understand. Sometimes they stalk and jump each other, other times they play chase.

I went to the Bridge today. A couple of weeks ago I started not feeling so good. Mom brought me to a couple of vets but they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. One vet was waiting to see how I did on a test, but then I got worse and went to Metro Hospital. Mom had to leave me with them, but I wasn't afraid. You are never far from the ones you love. They also could not find out what was wrong and I knew they couldn't fix my body no matter how hard they tried. I was very tired. I wasn't happy like that so Mom came to me. The hands that brought me to my furever home released me so I could go to the Bridge. I'll be able to stretch out in the sun and chase my tail again. I bet I'll catch it, too! I can see everything from here, and I'm ready to run and play again!
Thanks and love to everyone who purred for me while I was sick. I never felt alone with so much love around me.
