I couldn't take it anymore, not one more day behind these screens. I needed freedom, blessed freedom. I could scarcely recall the scent of the open wind, the feel of my muscles pounding full stride across the open yards. That is bliss, that was my goal. I waited until early morning, before sunrise, when the world was still cloaked in darkness. The house was still, all was dark, and I slipped like formless shadow through it to my hiding place. Behind the table, beside the door I waited. The eldest of my mortal foes awoke, she began the ritual of preperation for this place they call "job" I know not of what they speak, but I do know the first part of preperation is letting the dogs outside. The dogs, those mindless miscriants, servants of the mortal lords who govern my prison. They chase me unrelenting. But on that morning, even they didn't see where I lay. When the human opened the door I bolted out. FREEDOM! Precious freedom was mine at last! I had only to run. But then suddenly, I came upon the strangest obstacle, something I had never encountered before. It had not been present during my last escape. It was mysterious in the least. Circles of cold metal linked into an impenetrable sheild; a thousand feet high and all around me. I could do nothing but stare at my ruin. My jailer appeared then and scooped me up off my feet. I didn't resist, I couldn't. The mission was aborted. But not for long. Even now as I fashion this memoir I am plotting my next escpae, and I will escape, I am smarter than my captors. This as been a learning experience, next time no rings of metal will keep me from it; for escape is my mastery.
