When mama gets home from work, Munky likes to go outside with mama and they do secret stuff out there. Well, tonite, i decided i wanted in on the secret. So when Munky went out, so did i. But mama didn't see me. So when she and Munky came back in, she closed the door, and i was still outside. Not two minutes later, our neighbors came out with their dogs and i freaked. I tried to run inside but the door was closed. So the guy knocked on our door to ask mama if i lived here, and when mama opened up, i hauled tail inside! Mama knows that they also love animals (one of their doggies might be a foster), and she's so happy that they cared enough to let her know that i was out there.
On a side note, mama hoped that the incident might have freaked me out enough so that i won't go back outside, but instead of staying scared, i started up with the frisky meows! So now mama has to make sure i don't sneak out anymore. I used to be the good kitty that mama could count on to stay inside most of the time, but now i'm bad just like Ozzy and Munky! Wild and uncontrollable-- that's me!

It's been days since i was COTD. I got so many well wishes, and some new furiends and had a great day with extra cuddles and pets. But i'm just now able to convince my mama to sit down and help me write a thank you entry. Yesterday was her birthday, and she made time to thank all her FB furiends for their comments, but could she make time to help me thank my furiends? Oh, no, not my self-absorbed mama.
So, my furiends, i apologize on behalf of my rude mama. And i thank you for all your concats and offers of furiendship.

It seems that the love of power has overcome the power of love here at Catster.
What we loved so much was how through us, the kitties, the humans could break through their stupid barriers like religion, politics, class, geography-- whatever. All that stuff isn't important to us kitties. We just wanna play and be curious and share what's going on in our little lives. Sometimes we need advice, and we need purrs, so we ask for that stuff too. And we were able to give and receive it freely and without expectation. And sometimes we're sad that our friends are gone because of stupid human greed or negligence, so we hiss and we growl. But at the end of the day, all we want is a safe warm place to curl up and maybe knead and drool.
Catster, let go of some of the power. Bring back the love.
Licks,
Hunter

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Maybe HQ can look to this for guidance?

We've been largely silent on the new changes and on the Nutro thing. I guess this is because we're small kitties in this Catster pond, and for the most part we agree with what's been said by Lucy, Samoa, and Hazel Lucy.
HQ should no longer take Nutro's advertising money until they clean up their act. That's just the responsible thing to do. However, if there are existing contractual obligations between HQ and Nutro, and if HQ could get into legal trouble for violating those obligations, then i think we have to wait until the contract expires, and then, please HQ, no more Nutro ads.
HQ should change the whiteness. It doesn't bother us so much, but if it bothers most of the users, then that certainly isn't user-friendly.
HQ should make the Cat's Meow Blog more accessible. We still don't know where it is.
Also, it should be easier to get back to the new friend activity page. But maybe that's just us being unsavvy.
Regarding this new complaint accusing HQ of supporting violent websites, well, we just plain disagree. As i commented in Hazel Lucy's diary, we checked the site www.moarrawr.com, and we clicked the "violence" tag. What we found was, um, bloody and violent, but it wasn't abuse. It's the kind of stuff you'd see while watching a nature show-- lots of predators eating their prey. And there were pics of kitties with their prey in their mouths. Just plain old nature stuff. The content may not be appropriate for a 7 year old, but it's not necessarily offensive. Some of us may not have the stomach for it (like, we don't like to watch that show Animal Cops), but to say that HQ is supporting violent websites is, in our opinion, unfair. I hope i didn't offend anykitty, but i just want to be fair.
HQ ain't perfect, but we're gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they're definitely not supportive of animal abusers.

Oh, and by the way, i think we're the only ones who like the sisal background with the toys on it-- mol.

We just found out that one of the pillars of Catster, Rocky Ann, has gone to the Bridge. She'll make her home in the pink section of the Rainbow Bridge, i'm sure. I can just see her now, with her stroller all decked out in peace and love. My family didn't pmail Rocky Ann much. And we're not so much into Hello Kitty. And i don't think we're detectives. Still, we were (are) so touched by the legacy of Rocky Ann. Here are a few things we learned from her:
1. Best Friends Animal Sociey. We didn't know about this pawsome place until Rocky Ann started meowing about it. You can sponsor a kitty for only $25. Thanks to RA, Best Friends has had more kitties sponsored since we've been on Catster.
2. Strolling. We never thought about it until RA made it cool. We bought a stroller, and Munky went strolling a few times. Mama got lazy about carrying it down the staris (we live on the second floor), but we still have it, and we haven't given up on using it one day. But how many of us had never even thought of it until Rocky Ann?
3. Dryer sheets are bad. Mama used to let Munky roll around with the used dryer sheet (we know, Bad Mama). That is, until Rocky Ann told her that it's not good for him. We're so grateful that she shared that with us.
4. Love knows no bounds. We learned this from other kitties who are now angels. Rocky Ann and her pawrents just reminded us.
I don't know what to say now. I don't want to say goodbye to her. I just want her to know how much she is loved and appreciated.
Rocky Ann and Fam, we're sending love and hugs from the other side of the 241.
Gentle Licks,
Hunter

My mama has a friend at work who adopted a kitty last year. Well, ever since she adopted him, my mama has been trying to get her friend to put the kitty on Catster. My mama finally wore her down, and last nite, Stache became a part of the Catster community! Head on over and check him out and make a new furiend!
Now for the goings part. Our furiend Patrick has gone to the bridge. He is Biscuit's brother, and he had CRF. We absolutely adore his family and his mama. They have some of the biggest hearts in Catster, and we're sad at their loss.

Hunter

Last year, my mama read in the local paper about a lady who was caring for some ferals in her mobile home park, and the landlord was being mean. So she wrote the reported and suggested that they contact Alley Cat Allies. So they did, and now, there's a massive tnr effort going on. Below is the email that we got from Beth Kohler, who's coordinating this stuff:
I am emailing everyone to tell them of the huge TNR we will be performing out at Swan Lake Mobile Home Park in Mira Loma. It is set for March 16-20 and there are an estimated 3-500 cats out there. The problem is that so many are not feral but house cats turned out for various reasons. Animal Control will have their truck out there doing the s/n and we have several volunteers to trap and perform the after care. My concern is the friendly's. We are looking for foster homes for these until we can place them. They will all be s/n and chipped. If any of you can help, know of someone who can help, or somewhere we can obtain space to hold them until their forever homes can be obtained, please let me know. Any help or advice will be appreciated. I do not want them to go to the shelter as I know they are full and will have to euthanize them.
Mira Loma is in Southern California, in Riverside County. It's near Corona (where we live), so if you're out in that area, any help would be appreciated.
This issue is very close to my heart because I was a friendly feral, and i got tnr'ed and now i'm living in a nice warm home with 3 square meals and plenty of ruffpetz.
Oh, and we'll put contact info up later, as soon as we hear back from Beth.
Edit: Beth Kohler's email address is friendsofferals@sbcglobal.net

Me and my mama are rooting for the Cardinals. While my mama does have a crush on Coach Tomlin, and she does like Big Ben, she has to support Kurt Warner. She's 36, and he's 37, and she wants to show the world that older athletes can still rock it! Also, she likes how he's up for the Walter Payton Player of the Year Award for how he is off the field.
Go Cardinals!
