Arrival Story:
Sadly she was left in a box outside the North Shore Animal League after hours. It was unknown how old she was, they thought she was over 15 years old. She was at the shelter for many months because no one wanted such an old cat. My husband and myself enjoy adopting senior special needs cats.
We found "Alexis" on the National Website for Abyssinian Rescue. I drove from Maine to Port Washington ,NY to get Lexi.
Sadly Lexi lived 7 months after we found out she had colon/rectal cancer. Her last week was tough for her. We kept her stools moving with enemas. We also gave her SQ neck fluids twice a day to keep her hydrated during the last month. She required daily baths from her stool troubles. She was such a trooper! I have no regrets except I wished we had more time with her.
