Arrival Story: He found me when I was walking Shannon 3 years ago. He was barely 4 lbs, pack of bones, meowing like there was no tomorrow from inside some bushes. I thought a cat was trapped, so I knelt down to get a better look. He came to me and wanted me to pet him. We took him home and fed him, and he never left us since. We tried to find him his owners, then a new home, because we had a sick dog (shannon) we were caring for at the time. Later when we got another dog, Tiger, Simba became Tiger's best friend, and we kept letting him stay.
He started out indoors, very scared of us when we brought him home, but soon after, he started to expand his comfort zone. He knows to use a litter box when indoors, and also learned (by himself!) to use the doggy door. The vet thinks that because we live near a college, some college kid had him since he was a kitten, had him neutered and everything, and then couldn't keep him so let him "go" in the college campus.

Bio: New post: The reason that he is now up for adoption is that EVERYONE in our house is allergic to him to some degree. I didn't used to be, and planned to take him with me, but unfortunately my very sensitive skin decided it will now hive up when it touches his hair now, even when he is clean (I tried bathing him, etc.). So sad--now I have to "pet" him using the back of a pen, and he is sssooo sad because he's such an affectionate cat.
Both my parents have been allergic to him from the beginning. My mom has been on allergy meds which she complains about but deals with. My dad doesn't respond to allergy meds and crazy hates Simba. Neither of them go near Simba. So now he is a lonely cat that looks at us from afar!!
We have kept him this long . . . he's probably 5 now. I refuse to take him to the shelter. He needs a new home -- I'm not too worried because he gets along really fast with new ppl (no separation anxiety), and I know he's looking to start a new chapter in his life with someone who can be affectionate for him!! He's beautiful (and a hero! see below), and clean and all the things I would want in a cat. Did I mention that amazingly, I can bathe him and clip his nails? yeah! no problem.
He's a Hero!:
When Shannon (my dog) was going blind, Sim alerted us when Shannon fell into the pool. We didn't know Shannon was blind at the time, and we went out. When we returned, Sim quickly meowed and scratched at the door, and kept popping in and out of the doggy door. I followed him outside and he ran quickly to the pool steps, sat down and meowed really loud. I think he must've saved Shannon by meowing and leading her to the steps of the pool.
