Nelly loves to peek into closets and doors, and loves it if you give her a boost onto a high shelf. She also loves to hug your neck, and to give eskimo kisses.

She really dislikes it when you come home and don't give her any attention.

Favorite Toy:
She loves to play with her family and has learned how to play pass the ball in a group. She loves to play with one of those rubber mains cord holders from laptops!

Favorite Nap Spot:
She likes to cuddle on someone's chest and have a snooze.

Favorite Food:
She loves chunky wet foods, tuna especially. She also loves cat milk.

Lots- she can stand on her back legs, climb straight up fence poles, capture and eat lightning fast spiders, and she understands human communication very well.

Arrival Story:
Nelly was rescued by my friend Paul Harris, from an animal shelter in Arizona in 1996. They estimated that she was about 2 years old. He promised to take very good care of her, and he named her after his grandmother Nelly. When Paul took a job in Ann Arbor, he drove with all of his belongings, and Nelly, all the way out to Michigan. Nelly wasn't that keen to go, and when it came time to leave she was nowhere to be found. Paul had to wait several hours for her to come home again before he could set off on his journey. Nelly didn't take to the car ride very well, and tried to escape at least once. Paul and Nelly lived very happily together until Paul went to the Ukraine for 2 years. Nelly stayed with Jen's sister while he was away. Jen and Paul got engaged, and got married, after Paul returned from the Ukraine. Unfortunately Nelly and Jen just didn't get along. They tried and tried but eventually it was decided that Nelly should be found a new home. I had lived in the UM dorms for 4 years and had just moved in to my own place. I desperately wanted a cat for all those years, and pr'd that Gd would send me one. Well I moved at the end of August, and one day Paul mentioned he was looking for a new home for Nelly. I had been looking for an older cat, and so I went over to visit with Paul, Jen, and Nelly. Poor Nelly was so scared- she hid under the sofa the whole time. I wasn't sure if I should take her, since I really wanted a snuggle cat who would love me, and whom I could love back. But after some pr I said yes. 4 years, getting married, and a move to England later, Nelly is still with me, and fortunately she and my husband get along great.

Nelly vs Cat Fiend:
Nelly doesn't like other cats. Unfortunately our neighborhood here in England has many other cats. Recently a cat we've been calling Cat Fiend has been trying to come in and eat her food. Nelly doesn't like this, so there's a turf battle ongoing in our walled garden.
