Favorite Nap Spot:
With Charley! The big white puppy! On the back of the couch where I can survey my kingdom!
Friskies canned food! Cat treats- I can eat two to the girls one! Tuna!
Making momma smile!
Frankie came to us very small and very sick. Little F was too small to be away from mom, but mom wouldn't take care of this kitty. We had a hard time our first week with eating, worming, etc. I really thought this kitty wouldn't make it and so did the vet when I brought him in. But he's here so and going strong!
I love to play and snuggle and take over the toys that mom has given us--
I love to walk on mom when she is laying down and sit on her chest so she can pet me. I look at her w/ a big smile on face and purr and purr and purr.
I have been diagnosed w/ Feline Leukemia. It is not slowing me down! I have lots to do and I am going to do it all!
We have had a recent bout of illness but are steadily coming back from it...our vet did a wonderful job helping me and us despite my leukemia diagnosis and now I am getting yet another chance.
On November 6, 2007, after a long hard battle and lots of talking, Frankie was put to rest. Frankie was not eating anymore, refusing water, and losing control of bodily functions. He was up and down all the time. One morning he would be purring and full of love, then at night he would have no energy and no will. It was a first for his mom to do this and very hard but in the end, Frankie is finally comfortable and happy.
We love Frankie forever! We miss him terribly! But his spirit will love on and we will meet him at the bridge! He is a true hero for his kitty friends w/ his will to fight and his will to live and love and play! We won many battles but surrendered to the Lord in the end!
You can shed tears that he is gone,
or you can smile because he lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that
he will come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all
the memories that he left.
Your heart can be empty because you
cannot see him,
Or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and
live for yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because
You can remember him and only that is gone,
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can do what he would want : smile, open your eyes,
love and go on.
Now I may rest.

Buddy is a black lab that was due for euthanasia at the local vet clinic. He was brought in by a family for small injury on his foot but then they called to say they didnt' want him. He was scared out of his mind. He's only 7 months old- 8 now.
Mom and dad decided to foster him. Not a good start- he bit dad trying to get into the truck to go home. Once home he would not go inside at all so lived outside on a cable w/ a nice shed. He was scared of mom, scared of dad, scared of absolutely anyone. It soon became very apparent that he had little to none time spent w/ him as far as socialization and he wasn't treated the best.
Now began the hard work: Mom went out every hour for 15 minutes and spent time talking to him and once close enough petting him. She did this for 3 days and he began greeting her and giving her kisses- so dad began this too and pretty soon he liked them both.
So then they began leash and walking- yeah- he's not going anywhere. Well, what better than another dog so it was time to introduce Charley to him. Good idea! He was so interested in Charley that mom could get him to go for walks as long as Charley was along- but still not in the house.
So mom and dad continued to work w/ him on walks and now can walk him by himself. So mom and dad decided the next step for him is to get him in the house and then to obedience class for socialization. After many tries, and some coaxing- Buddy has been in the house for 3 weeks- he didn't like the crate at night but is used to it now. And guess what, only accidents for the first week- he's pretty much housetrained!
The car has been iffy- he had to be lifted in- bribed w/ food while out to make it fun. But then, we had the big vet appt last week-- which petrified him and brought him back a lot of steps. Tonight was the first night of obedience class and mom had to get him in the car by herself because dad was gone.
He saw mom pull up in her car and open the door and immediately turned to a rock. He wasn't budging. Last time was the vet clinic- so he sure %&$^ wasn't going this time. Soooo--- what's his favorite treat LOL- other dogs- so mom puts another foster in the car and he hops right in after it! And she takes the foster out and they are off.
We get to Jefferson for obedience and Buddy seems excited to see the dogs- and then freaks and pulls out of his collar and is off and running the other way!! Mom is trying not to freak or yell for him and fastly walking behind him saying Buddy Buddy and kneeling and pleading and he shoots into two lane traffic. Into a yard and seems like he's going to stay-- mom gets close and he darts off again- back across traffic up a block!
A nice man is trying to help but he's scared of men so mom says thanks but please dont' follow. A girl from class is walking w/ her dog and mom asks to borrow it and she begins walking it and talking after Buddy- which of course gets his attention. He slowly begins walking towards mom so mom begins walking the dog up into a corner spot at a building to corral him.
Buddy comes in and sits to sniff the dog and mom "scruffs" him and then lays on him huffing and puffing and the collar is back on and the leash is made into an extra collar. THANK GOD she got him!
Next hurdle- he's not going inside and won't budge- mom finally gets someone to come out w/ dog on leash and Buddy follows dog inside- and then does EXCELLENT for his first night inside and on a gentle leader.
Wish us luck! Buddy needs a home and lots of socialization and mom thinks this will help a lot! What a crazy night! Keep in mind mom is 6 months pregnant running after this dog! What a sight!

Mom was going to try and have seperate page for diary entries for her rescue work but nixed that and thought I would still be able to help her with it.
Mom's latest rescues include:
Misha- she was dumped on a farm by someone who said she is too much for them. She was about 3 months old at the time. The farm was a nice place and she was being taken care of and loved but one day she disappeared. Well mom happened to be out there a couple days later and here comes Misha running and her tail is hanging and has no skin on it from an inch down to up above her butt. Mom can put her pinky up under the skin and Misha smells really bad. So mom took her and told the lady she was going to care for her and then try and find her a home. Mom called the vet who didn't see her but told her how to control the outside for infection and gave her meds for oral antibiotic. He said since she smelled you can't sew her up.
Mom began washing her bottom and cleaning it right away. She controlled maggots- yes maggots until that Monday(this was a Saturday) and called a different vet who said yes, he could help. Mom brought Misha in and they did a little minor surgery and removed her tail and cleaned her up really good. She had a hole the size of a golf ball on her hind end and about 1/2 inch deep. Just open.
Now it was a waiting game- would Misha wake up and have legs, would she regain control of her bladder, her bowls, keep infection fought off. Well she woke up fine. Her bladder took a month to work perfectly- this came back the fastest- there were times when she would nap and if you would pick her and it was full it would leak but not anymore. Her bowels are almost there- still have some issues w/ diarrhea but has 90% control now. And she's almost healed over and never got infection.
Misha is the most loving kitty I have ever met and don't see how anyone could say she's too much- she loves to be held and loves to snuggle and give kisses- nothing scares her and everything is fun game.
Now we will work on finding Misha her new home!

Well- the house has a new puppy- a black and tan/red bone coon hound mix. Some guy was going to shoot all ten- some other people networked and found homes for 9 of them- mom took the tenth-
It's a sweet little girl who's supposed to be 7 weeks old however, our kitties are bigger than her and she's having a hard time w/ the crunchy food. She needs wormed really bad and has ring worm on her foot to take care of.
Nadia is pissed!! But if she wants to stay living w/ mom she needs to get used to these things. Meezy and Sketch immediately snuggled into her and began the cleaning process. Such good kitties!
She doesn't have a name yet because mom is thinking- but it's another life saved for now- no matter the sleep that mom will be losing soon! Potty breaks at midnight!
