I am blown away that I have been chosen as one of today's Diary Picks. I am a cat of few words so I am beyond thrilled to be chosen.

Life here at the bridge is purrtastic and way more than I ever dreamed. I miss my Mom and brofur Duffy but there is so much to see and do here.

Thank you once again Catster! I am amazed!

The news from the vet was not good. Seems I was in a mid stage of liver failure. Mom helped me cross the bridge at 6:10 pm this evening.

Mom held me and told me I will be missed by her and my brofur Duffy.

It has now been about 9 days since I have eaten. The tube of Nutri-Cal has done a good job of keeping me going. Mom took me to the vets early in the morning so they could draw blood. Dr Harvey has to put me out to do so as it comes out of the jugular vein. Mom is to pick me up tonight. around dinner time. Dr Harvey is checking for thyroid problems or to see if something is wrong with my kidneys or liver. Mom has been worried sick all afternoon. She is fearing the worse.

Update ...

Mom bought some great smelling chicken canned food. I licked it and ackted like I wanted to eat it but gave up after about 30 seconds. Mom tried to force feed me but I gagged and spit most of it out.

She decided to take me to the vet. She got the carrier out and it took her and hour to catch me and I growled and spit and got her with a back claw on her hand. But she bigger and smarter than me and in I went. The vet checked me out all over, took my temp, and weighed me. No fever, I have lost weight ...from 22lbs down to 16 but the last time I was weighed was 6 years ago so don't know how fast I lost it all. The vet said my teeth are fine. He squeezed and poked but said all seemed well.

I do have FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disorder) but not one episode for the last 6 years, ever since I began to eat Science Diet c/d. I have not eaten one morsel of anything else. But Ihave to go back next Monday, after the holiday weekend, for blood work. See if the kidneys and liver are working OK. The vet gave me Nutri-Cal for the long weekend and Mom has to stick lots of it on the roof of my mouth. They say I have to hang in there for next 5 days on that stuff.

I will try.

Out of Kilter

I like life just the way I want it and being a cat, it is my due.

But somewhere along the line things have started to change. I have never been what you would call social. I like my alone time and lots of it. But these past several weeks I have stayed in one hidey hole or another for longer and longer. Last week I hid from Mom for 2 whole days. She was scared thinking I somehow got outside. I used to come when called but I don't anymore. Last night when I was in the process of moving from one secret spot to another Mom brought out the furbursh. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to be brushed but last night I looked at her and continued on to hide. Mom also noticed that I have begun to eat a lot less. That is strange because I love to eat. I still appear to be as healthy as ever with these exceptions. Mom says its as if I have lost the zest for everything.

Mom says she is going to buy me some soft canned cat food. I am on a prescription diet so she has to go to the vet today to get some. She said that if I don't eat that I have to go see the vet. Leaving the house is not my favorite thing to do so I will probably voice my opinion and loudly if I have to go. I hate the outside world and don't like strangers at all. This will not be pretty.

I would like to be my old self again I think. I just wonder if it is too hard.
