Arrival Story:
I found Lily on petfinder and instantly loved her...and the pictures were not even close-ups of her and they were blurry. There was just something about her that made me have to go meet her at the rescue shelter! When we did, we saw her GORGEOUS big blue eyes and her long fur, but more importantly, it was so obvious that she was sweet...just by looking at her loving face! What she had gone through was awful! She had lived a great life with an older woman that eventually ended up being moved to a nursing home. This left her adult, drug and alcohol addicted son to take care of her and her 5 babies (yes, she had babies to care for at that time.). The man was abusive to her and the eldery woman's sister was left to call and report him. Lily and her babies were taken from him and she then went on to live at the rescue/foster home for a few months. That's when we were lucky enough to have found her! For quite some time she would not even venture out from under the bed and if we walked toward her, with shoes on, she would freak out and run away. It took her A LONG time to trust us and to feel comfortable to make her way into the living room. However, she now wants to be wherever we are and she even lets us pick her...before, she would scratch us if we picked her. This is only because of the physical abuse that she endured from that man. Needless-to-say, she was incredibly scared of our children but in time, she has learned that they love her and would not hurt her either. She now rolls around on the floor so that they will pet her. Lily has come soooooooooo far in just 9 months!!!!!!!! She is now queen of the castle and we wouldn't want it any other way. :)
