Arrival Story:
Cricket was a small kitten covered with fleas when we found her at the humane society. We had been looking at cats and didn't see any that shouted "pick me!". As we got ready to walk out the door, we saw her in a cage where the new arrivals were put. We heard "pick me!" and asked if she could be adopted yet. She could and we did.

Bio:
Cricket became very sick. She stopped eating and drinking. She lost more than 25% of her total body weight. We tried to get her to eat by giving a few B12 shots. She would eat a very small amount those days but would again stop eating. She was getting sub-q fluids at home. After fighting with all our might for a little less than 2 weeks, we made the heart breaking decision to help her to the Bridge. It wasn't fair to ask her to fight any more and she deserved the right to rest. On Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 11:40am Cricket went to the Bridge with her head resting in my hand while I petted her with my other one. We now know that she was among the many others who were killed by Menu Foods. 4 days later, Cricket let us know that she was ok at the Bridge by sending us feathers. It's said that a pet who has gone to the Bridge will send their family a feather to let them know they are ok. She didn't send just 1, she sent a hawk with it's prey of another bird. The feathers from the prey and the hawk were the same colors as Cricket. So even though our hearts still ache for her, she has let us know that she knows that we did everything we could for her. By sending the feathers, they helped us to know that we did the right thing for Cricket. She is happy and healthy at the Bridge.
