A Special Visit

Firends, a funny thing happened yesterday, and I have been chuckling about it ever since. It's not the first time I've done this, but I admit it's been a while because things have been quite busy both at the Bridge and in my old home on earth. And you know that old saying - Time Flies.

Yesterday, in the late afternoon, mum took a few minutes to sit in the back garden by my pond to watch Frankie and the visiting doggies do their "thing". The water was bubbling pleasantly, the sun was shining, and there was a gentle breeze in the air. Butterflies few by, a dragonfly hovered over the water, and distant birds were chirping.

It was then that I chose my moment to appear to her under the patio table, just for a second or two. I wound myself around the table legs as I always used to, and lifted my smiling face to the sun. Then I was gone, in a flash. At first, mum thought she was just tired, but then she realized that she wasn't the only one to have seen me. Lucy, the big brown visiting dog who I used to like to nap with during her visits, wandered over to the table and bent down to sniff the ground and the table legs.
Then she lay down in that very spot, and looked at my mum with her big brown eyes. Then they smiled at each other.

The my dad came outside and mum told him what had happened. He gave her "that look" (you know the one, halfway between wonderment and "I think you're out of your mind" mol). She said "what's wrong, don't you think it's a wonderful thing?". He replied "It would be if Tyler was still alive".

Poor dad, he misses me and Missy and Pooh in his earthly life. Mum admits to being a little peculiar, so she's an easy target mol, but dad is a tougher nut to crack. I'm going to have to work on him.
Love,
Tyler

Woohoo, I am Angel Olde Furt of the Month!

Meows my friends! I am furry excited today... I have been picked as the very first Angel Olde Furt of the Month for April! I was even interviewed for this great honor by Pixiebelle, one of the admins, and I have recorded the interview to share (coz I'm furry excited!) Here it is...

AN INTERVIEW WITH TYLER - MR. BOOMBASTIC ANGEL.

PixieBelle: What is something you did that always was guaranteed to make your humans smile?

Tyler: Hmmm, I did many things to make my humans smile. The thing my mum remembers best is that I was such a show off, hence my nick-name Mr. Boombastic. I would wait until I knew people were watching, and then do something daring, like run up a tree in the garden - even when I was in my mid-teens. I would also open cupboard and closet doors, just because I "could". But I think my greatest accomplishment was being able to make mum smile even when she was upset, just by cuddling with her.

P: While you were on earth you used to nap in a "disgusting old armchair." Have any of your siblings claimed the chair, or what has happened to it?

T: Ah, yes The Skanky Chair. I wrote a poem about it once.

(P: After some research, a dedicated archivist found the poem, titled "I love my Skanky Chair!"
Dedicated to Olde Furts everywhere.

I love my skanky cat chair,
Don’t move it mummy, don’t you dare!
You’ve moved the furniture all around
And now I’m worried it won’t be found.

It’s been in the corner by the TV,
But that wasn’t a favorite spot for me
I told you not to put it there,
And refused to use it, to be contraire.

Haven’t you learned your lesson yet?
How forgetful can you get?
Olde Furts know better where to sleep,
And play with toys and company keep.

Now it’s back where it should be
All along it was best for me,
By the window, in the sun
That’s the best place for it – bar none!)

T: You might like to know that chairs also go to Heaven, and it now resides here with me. I am pleased to say that Missy, Pooh and I (the Three Musketeers) still hang in it, as we always did. And the chair is once again in perfect condition of course MOL.

P: You have been active on Catster and in Olde Furts for a very long time - over 4 years. What is your most memorable experience of the group, or on Catster?

T: Olde Furts was always a blessing to me and my mum, a very special and supportive place. I have very fond memories of many great friends and lots of MOLS. We poked fun at our old selves with the Nekkid pictures and the Skinny Butt contest. Some of my best memories are of Isaac and Maxi's boas, the Conga, writing poems with Simon, Alex's traveling sweater, and Scooter's walks in the garden among the Plumbago... The day we all "Talked like Ze Isaac" was one of the funniest ever. Those were happy days and I treasure the memories. It seems fitting that we all decided to go to the Bridge together, within a year.

P: You were born in the Cayman Islands, and collected quite a few stamps on your kitty passport. Did you enjoy your youthful international travels? Do you have any memorable travel stories?

T: Oh yes! When we lived in Tortola I was the spider-killer King! Mum used to send me into her bedroom at night as "advanced guard", to clear the area of the tarantulas that used to live on our mountain. Unfortunately for her, it was pretty good sport for me and it takes some time to pull spider legs off one by one... expcially when they are 2 or 3 inches long MOL. I also saved her life one night by finding a black scorpion in her bed... oh yes, I had lots of fun back in the Tropics.

P: How has the world changed since you were a kitten?

T: Well the world is a busier place nowadays. My brothers and sisters mostly stay indoors now - perhaps that's the big change. Since Missy came to the Bridge, mum worries about the road, and all the other dangers that seem to lurk outside.

P: How would you like to be remembered?

T: With love, and for being ME - Mr Boombastic Fantastic MOL. I am... irreplaceable. I would also like to be remembered for my poems which I dictated to mum when on earth. When Scootie Patootie created the thread called "Tyler's Poems" it was one of the great honors of my life.

(P: Note: the "Tyler's Rhymes for the Tymes" thread has been made visible again for this month, as part of our celebration of all things Boombastic. )

P: Is there anything else you want your fellow Olde Furts to know about you?

T: I was a great Big Brother! I was the anchor to my sister Missy's world, and I like to think that I raised Clyde to be a good man cat. I can also proudly claim to be THE cat that converted my dad into a total cat lover. But most of all I would like everyone to always remember that I loved my family and friends and still watch over you earth-bound ones from the Bridge

P: Thanks for a wonderful interview from the Bridge, Tyler! We hope you enjoy being Angel Furt of the Month!

T: Thank you Pixie - I am deeply honored.

YOWZA!!! Thanks Olde Furt Admins!

I would also like to concatulate my furry good friend and fellow SoFla cat Big Harry for being voted Olde Furt of the Month. He has just been diagnosed with diabetes, so hopefully this award will perk him up a bit http://www.catster.com/cats/1072617

Now I'm off to find Dude Kitty to see if he want to take me to the Happee Herring for a little celebratory fish-fest and catnip juice.... all OF angels are welcome to join us!

It's my birthday at the Bridge!

Boy do I have a lot of special friends. Sometimes when you're at the Bridge, it's understandable if you get a little furgotten. After all, time is irrelevent to us angels so sometimes special occasions just come and go unnoticed MOL. But I have not been furgotten! Not by my pawrents and furblings, and not by my friends! Just look at my page with all those rosies mol!

So I thought me and my angel pals should paw on down to the Happy Herring for a pint or two, and maybe some of their pawsome all-you-can-eat angel fish. They have free cloud parking as usual, so come on down!

And maybe all my earth friends can be a little boombastic today and demand extra scritches from their pawrents to mark my birthday. Being boombastic is easy once you try!

Thank you all for remembering me, it means more to me and my mum than she can say in words...
Love,
Tyler

Saying Goodbye to My Doggie Brother Pooh

January 19th 2010 2:41 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 8 people already have ]

It's been a while since I wrote in my diary. But then time is irrelevant to us angels, mol.

But I wanted to say thank you all for purring for my doggie brother Pooh. The Poohmeister joined me and Missy at the Bridge yesterday to become the Angelmeister - 11 months to the day since Missy came to the Bridge at the behest of a speeding car...

Now we are all together again, the Three Musketeers, hurrah, all for one and one for all! We are once again ensconced in our favorite Skanky Chair (which also made it's way to Heaven not long ago).

As you can imagine, our pawrents are terribly sad. It's hard for them to have lost their three beloved elderly furpanions within one year. Half of the family is "gone" and the world has changed for them several times. Sometimes they feel like everything is falling apart. Such are the thoughts of hoomans, and it's our place in their lives to make them see that love is forever, and we never really "die", we just go on in a different form. I have been teaching my mum this view for a while now. I'm still working on it. Dad will take a little longer, mol, because hooman men are a little trickier on the subject, right?

But for now, I am hovering close, and so is Missy. Pooh is hanging by mum's feet just as he always did when on the earth. The only difference is now she can't accidentally tread on him. Our earth-siblings are being very good and making sure they're present to comfort our hoomans in their sorrow. Caney Cat is stepping up as the "old man" of the house now; Katrina is constantly talking to them and loving them, and Clyde is making them laugh with his usual comedic humor. Bonnie is being a wise and soulful kitty, while Bo and Fifi are watching from the garden in quiet reverie.

All is quiet and still

All About Calvin

Yesterday was a sad day, and I'm only just able to write about it. You see, another great Olde Furt friend has crossed the Bridge.

The one and only lovable orange man Calvin and I finally got to meet in purrson yesterday. It took HOURS to push my way through the throng of angels clamouring at the entrance to meet the famous dude! So many old friends were there to greet him and shake his paw. For years we have laughed at Calvin's diaries and antics in general. Even when he was sick, he lifted everyone's spirits...

Before he got sick with the nasty C, he helped me face my own cancer fight by making me his Pal of the Week for several consecutive weeks. Now that's what I call being a pal! He helped crank up the purrs for me when I needed them most. Even after I went to the Bridge, he and his mum helped my mum heal.

Then, when I heard he kneaded the same help, I was there for him. I tipped out bag upon bag of my boombastic angel dust over his house to protect him. It seemed like all of Catster was there for him - a testament to Calvin's popularity and the great love we all have for him.

Although he decided it was Time, I believe he showed that nasty C a thing or two. He won the fight on many levels, and the bravery showed by him and his family was an inspiration.

I am furry glad to be able to finally look him in the face and hang out with him for real! But I know that his mawmee and dad will miss that same face about their house, just as my family miss mine. Calvin, you were the top cat dude, and will be sorely missed on earth, while we lucky angels get you up here. But you and I both know that you'll visit them from time to time. For now, pull up a cloud pal, and knead on...

Much love,
Tyler

A Very Big Day!

Oh my.... OH MY!!!!!
I just found out I am Cat of The Day today, and am pinching myself. There I was sitting on a cloud gossiping with a bunch of angel friends when the Catster Cat came along and whispered in my ear...

I am honored beyond measure, and it couldn't have happened on a better day. You see, I hope that by being on the front page, all of Catster will see that I'm all about Calvin and will purr along with me to help him beat that tummy cancer!

Also, this afternoon at 1pm Catster time, I will be giving away my niece Little Bit at her wedding! How pawsome is that?

This is a great day for me and I'm very grateful for it. Thank you to all my wonderful friends for messages, rosies, congrats in the group forums and even phone calls to mum, mol!

We love you all,
Tyler

Boas at the Bridge!

Hello again my friends,

I have raided my angel-wing closet and found my old boa, dusted it off and flung it around my neck, all in honor of the most charming and gentlemanly Maximilion Klingon who will arrive at the Bridge today.

We angel Furts have promised him a pawty he'll not forget!

It's been a long time since I wore a boa - the last time was for Isaac my Special Friend, who no doubt will be wearing his finest today too.

Please purr for Maxie's pawrents as they say adieu to him today, and for Maxie's Golden Girl Elsa. They are all so furry sad, and my family understands that feeling only too well.

Meanwhile, I'll be setting up the stage lights and Isaac will be operating the disco ball as we get the pawty ready...
Love, love, love,
Tyler

One Month

This week marked one month since you went to the Bridge.

Every day I look at your picture - the one of you and Missy together, by the TV - and try to think of you both being free.

I know your spirit is all around me, but I miss your physical presence more than I can say. More than I can bear sometimes! It doesn't seem to be getting any easier, I guess I just need more time.

I often stroke the little bit of fur I kept, and it comforts me because it still feels like you. If I concentrate, I can still hear your strong meow and see your intelligent face and sweet one-eyed gaze. Every day I look out the window to the spot where you used to do that funny roll-around on the patio just to entertain me or when you weren't quite ready to come inside. I imagine you still there. I smile, but my heart still feels broken...

The other day I came home and thought I saw you curled up on the back stoop. I saw the striped tail with the black tip through the window, and my heart skipped a beat. But it was a visiting racoon! I laughed at myself for a little while, thinking what a good trick it was you played on me...

I took a photo before the visitor left and put it on Clyde's page.

I miss you so much! Thank you for being part of my life for so long. I will think of you every day with love until we meet again.

Tabby of the Month!

Dear friends, I have had the most wonderful honor bestowed upon me....

I have been awarded "Tabby of the Month" in the most pawsome group Tabbies With Tudes!!! There were so many wonderful tabby candidates to choose from, I am truly honored and my mum is very proud...

When I found out, I did lots of loops among the clouds and even spelled out "TWT!" over and over, making vapor trails as I flew around!

How do you like my current profile pic? It was made for me by my angel friend Wally to celebrate my title for September. Thank you Wally, I will wear it all this month and treasure it forever!

The Bridge is a pretty nice place to be, although I miss my mum and I know she misses me a lot....

These days I'm constantly flying around with my ginormous bag of boombastic angel dust. I'm watching over all my old friends and some new ones too, taking care of the sick and frail, and even newborn kittens. I'm watching over cats and their pawrents as best I can, and sending purrs and dust to help them through their day. I have even been there to meet some friends when they came to the Bridge.

These things I do in return for all the kindness shown to me and my mum when I was sick.

Thank you all my friends, for your MANY kindnesses! We will never forget you...
Love, love, love,
Tyler ^BA^
