the sun is out for hours and hours and hours....

mom did repairs on our outdoor run, as kotenouk imploded it on one of his adventures outside. mom prefers us to not be loose in the hood, but kotenouk is having emotional issues so mom lets him do what he wants. i'm perfectly happy crusing inside and my little run. mom planted some stuff in there and she said something about catnip so that would be great.

we have a mystery going. i keep showing up for lap time with a big splotch of water on my head, but dry paws. mom is perplexed. it's good to keep her wondering sometimes though.

the frogs continue to entertain without any attempts at putting other fish in there. they keep dying. there is talk of getting a dedicated fish tank for my observation pleasure. that may be a good winter thing...right now there are birds at the feeders and baths so that is entertainment enough.

do fish swim upside down?

mom finally bought me some new fish and they looked so happy awhile ago, but now the big algea eater dude is upside down. could he be sleeping? maybe algea has the same impact as that turkey at thanksgiving and he's just really, really sleepy. he was chowing down the minute he hit the tank. i just have a bad feeling about all this. my frogs survive it all, why don't my fish?

my bought us a new toy today and it was loads of fun. she made blossom so sleepy she let us just play with mom and didn't try to palm our heads.

oh well...guess we'd better go flush another fish down the drain.....farewell big algea fishy....

i had no idea...

i saw mom on the bed and decided to come lay next to her so i snuggled up and settled in....then i hear a little meown!! guess i had lay down right on top of kotenouk who was now laying smushed underneath me. who knew??? guess, he wasn't too happy with that and then we were all disturbed.

i think we are getting more used to the dog situation at the house. that puppy blossom still thinks i'm her personal chew toy. kotenouk has snuck out to the backyard several times, but it doesn't look like much fun to me. blossom has freedom to romp on us all she desires outside so i'll just stay inside.

mufasa's weight was up just a smidge at the vets but he continues to be very thin and we don't know how long we'll have him with us. he's definitely quieter these days. i miss my friend mufasa already. he's here, but he's just not the same cat.

the food is good and the bed is warm. there is lots of white stuff outside...makes me happy i'm not out there. paws....

okay, so today i'm relaxing at home, the dogs are with mom out walking or whatever they all do when they get attached to the ropes and head out...what do i care, peace and quiet!! no slobbering of my coat, no chasing, no nipping. but i get away from myself....when they come home, mom has this tree again. it shows up about this time each year. she hangs all these wonderful swinging toys from it and well, it's just about the best thing ever!!! as i sat on my frog tank, the temptation just got to be too much and i made a jump for the center of my new toy. i mean i wanted to get to those twinkly lights and toys that were in the area's i can't get to from the ground. mom was pretty quick moving as the tree starting moving. i made a run for it. i'll have to try again later.

ouch!!!

mom took kotenouk and i to the vet today. the vet just checked us out and stuck sharp things in my neck. ouch!!! it is less than 10 degree's out there and i would have preferred to just lay on my frog tank where it is nice and warm.
mom was out of town and it was like dogs gone wild around here. she's back now and trying to get control of the situation. i'm tired of constantly having to clean dog slobber off my lovely coat. have they no respect? i hope mom takes them for a nice long walk and gives us a break here.

HOT DOG!!!!

mom was totally in a hurry to get rio to her obedience class and left the remainder of the hot dogs she was cutting up for bribes on the counter. no canines and hot dogs for all...it was a great kitty party!!! it even took mom awhile to figure it out. i guess there were some leftover bits on the floor. we'll have to be more careful next party to clean up before they return.

no fish in the tank still. the frogs are okay, but mom says the water is all out of whack so she'll have to keep working on it. well, i can still sack out on the tank...love when the light is on, it's all warm. every cat should have one.

more kitties joined our group...

i was so excited when i saw some new alaskan friends join up with the group we created, paws of alaska. i don't know many cats in town so great to finally meet some local whiskers.
the dog, blossom, tried to kill us all the other day, but luckily nothing happened except the house stank for a bit and we all had to be chilled as mom aired the place out. blossom had accidentally turned on the gas stove. can't wait for her to get out of her puppyness. she thinks we are her personal toys. hard to just walk across the room without her getting slobber all over my lovely orange coat!! i have a great deal of pride in my dashing good looks and i don't appreciate getting my fur ruffled. she doesn't seem to understand as she is constantly covered in water and mud.
not sure why kotenouk wants to escape this life of leisure but he sometimes darts out the door when mom tries to let the dogs in or out. it was funny today as blossom was out as well and chased him all over the back yard. mom went out to check on him later and didn't see him....but she did hear the beginings of a cat fight. she saved him. the tortie across the street is tiny, but she's a killer!! paws...

everyone but me is taking meds....

mufasa is still taking meds and getting thinner. mom says he was 18 pounds at one time and now weighs only 10. he still likes to snuggle and loves to eat. kotenouk has been rough with him at times...kotenouk has also been calmer these last few days, mom got him amytriptyline to help with his peeing problems. the pills look tough to take. i'm happy i don't have to take any.

mom had friends in town, they had to get a hotel as they found out they are allergic to cats. another friend came and crashed for a few nights and she's not allergic so we got lots of attention. the dogs and people were gone for a few days so we had the place to ourselves. no parties were thrown though. i'm the only party cat and i don't know anyone in the neighborhood. seemed too much work to plan anything and it was nice to have a few quiet days without the puppy slobbering all over all of us.

not much to report, other than the usual cat stuff, watching the frogs, the neighborhood and trying to avoid the dogs.

went into the file cabinet today...

it has all our records in it...i wanted to make sure mom didn't know something about mufasa that she wasn't telling us. his weight loss is scarey as he's my best buddy. he's moving much less and i want him around forever. so mom gave me some pats and loves and tried to let me know about mufasa. i guess they don't really know what is wrong but he's kinda old and has been here long time. mom talked about a bridge and though it sounds nice, i'm not ready to let mufasa go yet. mom says as long as he's happy he's stickin here.

mom has been working the past few days which means blossom is a bit more nutso. i think she thinks we are part of her elaborate toy collection and is desperatly trying to find our squeakers!!! silly dog. no squeakers here, just purrrrrrs.

found a nice snuggly sleeping spot the other day.....i think i may head there for a bit and rest. it's hard work being a cat.

earthquake....

we had a nice little jiggle tonight. i was a little nervous at first, but it was really pretty short so i walked off like the brave kitty i am. the dogs slept through it so forget about them having super sensitive senses...or was i supposed to have that. hmm....the usual stuff going on at the house, kotenouk is peeing in the dogs food bowl so mom took him to the vet to get some pills to help him relax. who'd think any cat would need to learn to relax. i thought that was instinct. poor guy. he gets all worked up over stuff though so hopefully this will help him. my other cat mate went to the vet today as well. mufasa is losing weight and the meds don't seem to be working very well. he sleeps lots. so far all his tests are negative except the thyroid...and that is just a little higher. i was home with the dogs this afternoon. the puppy blossom can be a bother as she likes to pounce, rio's okay. she just runs into you sometimes and is really big so it's good to watch where she's going. oh well, i just report the drama, for me, there is no drama.
