OH MY CATNESS!

Good grief! I can NOT believe that I was chosen DDP.

The past couple weeks have been incatible.....I am one furry blessed kitty.

MONDAY MEWNIFICIENCE!!!

I have had a most PAWSOME week!

Last Tuesday was my birfday.
Saturday was my speshul Kentucky Derby Day
and now, today, I have been selected as a DOTD Cat.

I am ofurr-whelmed with gratitude and joy and aPURRciation.

Thank you, Catster, for honoring me.

And thanks to all my readers & fur-riends who have sent me so many kind mewssages & rosies.

I am truly a furry blessed kitty.

And now I must go brag to my bruvvers, OWP, Dexter DuFF Goldman & thomas macguffan and ESPECIALLY I must brag brag brag to my sisfur, Cagney!!

IT'S MY DAY!!!!

Today is my Furry Furry Speshul Day!! 7 years ago, on Kentucky Derby Day, a lady found me. I was only a week old & furry tiny. She called the Dr Vet who met the lady at the clinic & took me. For that Saturday & Sunday I went efurry where with the dr vet and I drank from a furry tiny bottle.

Then! It was Monday and the dr vet took me to work with her. There were LOTS of nice ladies there. And one lady said, "well, it's my turn to bottle feed & I don't have anything going on -- I'll take care of him". Do you know who that lady was???

MY ALMOST MAMA!

She wasn't my mama immediately. Oh No! I was just part of her work. She loved me and cared for me & took me efurry where. I got to meet BIG kitties & I slept in a carrier on the dining room table. Sometimes, when she had meetings, Almost Mama left me with a lady named Granny. Granny & Granddad took good care of me. One time mama (still not yet) & I were traveling in the car, I heard mama talkin' on that phone thing. Then we pulled ofurr. She explained to me that there was a tornado & we would have to stay in the car & wait for it to pass. So for awhile we just stayed in the car & didn't go anywhere. Almost Mama sang to me & talked to me. Purrty soon she said the tornado had gone ofurr us & we could continue on. So off we went.

I lived with Almost Mama & Baxter & OWP & Cagney. Baxter was THE BEST. When I was furry tiny he was furry furry gentle with me & taught me all kinds of things a big cat needs to know. The bigger I got the more he played with me. Our favorite game was to play with Chick-Fil-A boxes. OH!!! That was GRRRRRREAT FUN! And when Almost Daddy would comb Baxter out he would toss the ball of Baxter fur to me and I would chase it & carry it & run with it. My furry favorite toy efurr!

Then there came a day when Almost Mama put me in the carrier and we went to her work. That wasn't unusual cuz I went to work with her efurry day, but this day when she left I STAYED IN THE CAGE. She had told me I was a big boy & it was time to find me a home. She kissed me & hugged me & told me good bye & to be a good boy at my new home.

WHAT?????

Well, I thought about that all night. Then morning came & no Almost Mama. The other ladies were furry nice to me. They said it was "the weekend" & Almost Mama would be back to work on Monday.

WHAT???? Days without Almost Mama?

I DON'T THINK SO!!

So I cried and cried and cried. And I pawed at my cage door and I wouldn't eat & I cried and cried and cried. Finally one of the ladies said "oh ok I'll call her for you". And then she used the phone thing.

But then that lady came back & told me that Almost Mama wasn't home. She was out of town.

OUT OF TOWN?? But that's what I do with Almost Mama. Oh! I was so sad then and I just sniffled & lay down.

Purrty soon I looked up & there was Almost Daddy. He said "come on little Derby, let's go HOME". All the ladies laughed at Daddy (DADDY!! not Almost Daddy anymore) and they called him an "old softy".

After another night without her I woke up from my afternoon nap to hear her coming in the door of our house. "What in the world? Derby, what are you doing back here?" I pawed and pawed at the carrier door. I wanted to tell her but I just couldn't find the words. She got on the phone thing & I heard her talking & laughing. Then she came back to the carrier and opened the door. I jumped out at her just as she said,

"Well, Henry K. Derby, it looks like I'm your Mama now,

Welcome Home!"

And to think it all started on my Furry Speshul Day -- Kentucky Derby Day.

It's My Birfday!!

Today has been my birfday. I am a Purrr-fect Seven years old. Mama asked me what I wanted for my birfday. I told her I want a bunny. She said she'd do what she could, but that it would take awhile for a bunny to come live wif us.

Mama wasn't home for awhile today cuz it's her birfday too and Daddy took her out to lunch & for some fun. When mama came back she called me & said she had a birfday purrresent fur me. YIPEEEE!!!! My bunny is here.

But no bunny.

No matter where I looked.

No bunny.

"here Derby. Here's some tuna granola for you for your birthday", mama said. She gave me some dry crunchy stuff.

I backed up.

She gave me more.

I backed up further & stared at her.

I don't know what she was thinking but that tuna granola is not a birfday purrresent. I am NOT eating that. I don't care that it's organic & specially made by a lady wif a cute store.

So I hafta say, my birfday has been a little disappointing cuz there was no bunny & no great eats.

[sigh]

Maybe Saturday, when it's my gotcha day & my name day, maybe THEN I'll get some special treat.

(Saturday is the Kentucky Derby & that was the day I was found & brought to mama for her to bottle feed & raise me. It's also why my middle names are "Kentucky Derby"

This is the Beginning

Today is a big day for me because mama is helping me get my own diary.

My big bruvver, Oliver Winston Parson Cat, has his diary and mama helps him alot. She says now that I had my birfday I am old enough for a diary.

YEA....HURRAY!

Plus, today I was TAGGED. That means that on my diary page I have to list 7 Facts About Me. (easy, I LIKE to talk about myself!) Then I will TAG 7 of my fur-riends. And hopefully they will play along too.

SEVEN THINGS YOU PROBABLY DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME:

1) My nick name is Gravity Cat. That's because I am constantly testing the theory of gravity by knocking anything off a surface from which it could fall and make noise.

2) Certain sounds, like the clicking of a pen or mama's hair clip, make me gag.

3) I am named after Henry Anderson, an orange tabby patient of mama's. Henry went to The Bridge and since mama thought he was a most wonderful cat & brave patient she honored him by naming me Henry. I wish I had known him. I try to do his name proud.

4) I love when daddy uses his litter box & he rubs my ears or throws little bits of paper for me to chase.

5) My sisfur makes me nutz. I chase her and used to stalk her. Then mama put stuff in the plugs of our house [from Mama: it's called Feliway Plug In] and I feel much calmer. Now I just chase that pesky sisfur, but I don't try to hurt her. It's fun to see her run!

6) I don't like my bruvver, Sam Lloyd, who moved in from outside. He gets attention that I think I should get.

7) Mama calls me her Babiest of Babies. And I like that. She says I am the purr-fect last baby in a series. She says I incorporate just the right blend of sweetness and sassyness and throw in a touch of bitey-ness.
