Heaven in the form of a cat treat

Meow Meow!

I am so happy! All my life, Mommy thought I didn't like cat treats. Boy was she wrong! The first hint that I actually adored some kinds of cat treats came when Lucky Boo's friend Simba sent him a pawkage... it was some Tabby Take-out! In his pawkage there was a little sample of something called Wildside Salmon treats... Mommy saw me jump on the desk and paw at the little baggie these freeze-dried yummies were in. Then I proceeded to chew on the baggie! So she opened it up and gave me one of the treats, expecting me to snub it, as I do with all treats. I sure did surprise her when I chewed that treat up and swallowed it!

Well that bag of sample treats is long gone, but I just couldn't get that taste, that fresh freeze-dried aroma, out of my little mind. Mommy says I have a one-track mind. All I can think about is freeze-dried yummies! I have been jumping on the desk where the baggie used to be, looking at Mommy, and giving her the saddest little kitty face you ever did see. Finally, my pouting started to take effect. Mommy felt really sorry for me and didn't want to deprive me of my freeze-dried-treat-eating-kitty-joy. So she went on a quest to find me some yummies. First she went to a pet store and bought a tube of freeze-dried stuff. She thought it looked kind of gross, and kind of old, but she decided to let me tell her whether or not I liked it. She was right; I didn't like it. I wouldn't even sniff it! Yuck!

Then, yesterday, Mommy came home grumbling about how much she had just spent on a container of treats and that I sure better like them. She'd gone to Kroger and purchased the treats she said she would NEVER buy. She had bought the Halo Liv-a-Littles freeze-dried chicken treats. 1.5 ounces for 9.99. All for me! She said they were similar in texture to the Wildside Salmon treats and she hoped that I'd like them.

She opened the container. I edged nearer to her. She broke the protective seal. I jumped on her lap. She picked up a treat. I stuck my head in the box. She told me "NO!" I took my head out of the box. I sniffed the treat. Could it be? I took a little nibble and experienced heaven in the form of a kitty treat. My ecstasy was apparent as I purred and purred and purred and headbutted and headbutted and headbutted. I was one happy boy.

I still am one happy boy. Mommy has been generous with the expensive treats, and she told me today that she has ordered some Wildside Salmon treats from on-line because she found a pretty good deal on them at a new website she'd never seen before! I am so thrilled. I don't know if I like the Liv-a-Littles or the Wildside Salmon better. I am inclined to think they are both equally celestial in nature.

I wanted to share this story with you, friends, because if any of you is a treat-snubbing kitty, you may want to have your Mommy or Daddy buy you some freeze-dried treats. They may open up a whole new world of tasty pleasures for you, as they have for me. Mommy thought she had tried every kind of treat known to cat with me, but she was wrong. Thanks to Simba, I now am able to enjoy that which other cats take for granted: the ability to enjoy a good cat treat. I'd snubbed Pounce Moist, Pounce Crunchy, Whisker Lickins, Greenies, Aquariyums, and many other varieties and brands of cat treats. Mommy said I'd never love treats. Never say never.

Purrs,
Sindri
