Catmas Staycation!

Meow,

As I meowed earlier, I was on staycation over the Catmas weekend. I had a good weekend just resting, eating, and enjoying my toys. I also decided to leave meowmy 4 little hairball presents. Meowmy didn't seem to like them as much as I thought she would.

Meowmy told me that she got to see my cousin Kitty Mae yesterday. Kitty Mae is a cute little orange tabby kitty with one eye. You see Kitty Mae had a tumor behind one of her eyes and had to have it removed over the summer, but she is doing quite well. Meowmy says that she is much shyer than I am around company though. She let meowmy pet her, but then she ran right down to the basement and hid. Meowmy also got a book from Kitty Mae and her bird sister Baby the cockateil.

I was also glad to hear that the Green Bay Packers won their game against the Chicago Bears last night. They have only lost 1 game out of about 15 games so far. We think it would be pretty cool if they made it to the Superbowl again this year.

Lastly and most impawtantly, I'd like to thanks everycat who left me Catmas rosettes. I love them all.

I Want Cat Treats NOW!

Meow, Meooww, Meoowwww!

That is what I say when I'm trying to tell meowmy to give me some cat treats. Actually, first I will go out to the kitchen and sit down in the same spot every morning and then I will start talking. Meowmy usually caves in and gives me some treats. Sometimes if I am not full, I will do this several times to see if meowmy will give me more treats. Usually I'm told, "Colleen, I can't give you anymore treats or else you will become a fat cat." I say forget that! When a kitty wants treats a kitty should be able to have treats.

This morning I was hanging out in the kitchen again after having my morning treat and meowmy was eating her breakfast. Well meowmy was too preoccupied with eating her breakfast that she didn't stop to give me anymore treats, so I decided to try and open the kitchen cupboards to see if there were any cat treats in there. Darn! The cupboards have kitty proof locks on them. Why does meowmy do that? Anymeow, she claims there aren't any cat treats in there anymeow, but I just don't know about that meowmy of mine.

Today we are supposed to get the first substantial snowfall of the winter. I'm just being a lazy cat like a usually am and am napping on my meowmy's bed.

Hope everycat has a nice day!

Happy Birthday Meowmy!

Meow,

Happy Birthday to my meowmy! She is 34 years young today.

I didn't give her anything pawsonally today as I didn't know what to give her. Usually my gifts (hairballs) aren't appreciated that much. Meowmy bought this little knick-knack that is a kitty playing on a shoe at the hospital gift shop she volunteers at. She said that it could be from me.

To start off meowmy's special day, I jumped in bed with her and pounced up on top of her. Then I gave her a whole bunch of kitty birthday kisses. I'm sure I will have a lot more quality meowmy/kitty time with her today.

Meowmy went to Panera Bread this morning and got a cup of Honey Ginseng Green Tea and a free Cinnamon Roll for her birthday. She also has a coupon for a free scoop of ice cream at this new place called Maroon Bells which she will go to later. This evening she is going to celebrate her birthday with Grandmaw and Grandpaw and have pizza and Mrs. Fields cookie cake with them.

I wish my meowmy many more very Happy Birthdays!

Cabinets Sure Make Pawsome Hiding Spots!

Meow,

This morning when meowmy was eating her breakfast I was walking around the kitchen, meowing at her to get me some more cat treats as I was not yet full from the food and treats she already gave me. Well, like she has been doing when I meow at her for more treats, she ignored me. Well, if she wasn't going to give me anymore food I figured I'd go find it myself. So I discovered one of meowmy's kitchen cabinets that is not kitty proof. I took my paw and easily pried open the door and let myself in. While there was no food in there, I did see some interesting looking things - some items like a pancake griddle, a George Foreman grill, a hand mixer, and something to extinguish candles with. Meowmy was eating her cereal and talking to Grandmaw on the phone while I was doing this. As soon as she noticed that I let myself into the cabinet, she had to tell grandmaw what I was doing and that she had to get me out. Meowmy really should have let me play in that cabinet. I just don't understand why she always has to spoil the fun. Now she is even talking about kitty proofing the remaining to cabinets in our place that aren't kitty proof. Can you believe that? Now I'm just going to have to find another way to get meowmy's attention in the morning.

You Are Getting Sleepy, Very Sleepy!

Meow,

That's what my meowmy will be around 9 am tomorrow morning. You see, she is going in for an upper GI endoscopy and the human vet has to put meowmy to sleep for the procedure. My meowmy has had GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) for a couple years now and all of a sudden she has been having more problems with heartburn and chronic sinus infections (meowmy's allergist thinks these are related to her GERD). Anymeow, the human vet just wants to take a look in there to rule out a couple of other problems. Meowmy doesn't think they will find anything too serious wrong with her. Let's just purr that everything goes o.k with the procedure and that meowmy doesn't have any problems with the sedative they give her. I think meowmy is more nervous about the sedative than she is about the procedure. I do wonder if meowmy will get souvenir pictures? Anymeow, this also means I will be home alone for the day too as meowmy cannot drive the rest of the day after she has her endoscopy due to the sedative. She will be staying at Grandmaw and Grandpaw's house.

I'm sure glad I'm not the one having to go to the V-E-T tomorrow.

Meowmy's Endoscopy

Meow,

As I was meowing to you all yesterday, my meowmy has been having some tummy/acid reflux issues lately. Her human tummy vet wanted her to go through an endoscopy of her esophagus and tummy to see just what is really causing her problems.

Well, the procedure went just fine. Furrst, they started an IV, probably the worst part about it in meowmy's opinion as she hates needles. Then they took her into the procedure room and had her gargle with this really nasty tasting stuff and then she had to swallow it. This was supposed to numb up meowmy's throat and prevent her from gagging. Then they put a sedative and a narcotic medication into meowmy's IV. She said the room started spinning a little and all of a sudden she was asleep. Before she knew it, she woke up and the procedure was over. She said it wasn't bad at all and her throat was not sore and she didn't have any nausea. She just felt very buzzed from the drugs they gave her.

Anymeow, everycat is probably wondering about the results. Well, the nurse explained that meowmy does indeed have GERD (Gastroesophogeal Reflux Disease), a Hiatal Hernia, and they found a benign polyp in her stomach. Basically, they just told meowmy to keep taking her 2 Protonix a day and especially with the Hernia, it is important that she not lie down after eating. So, I'm very happy to report that there is nothing radically wrong with my meowmy. I will be very happy to see her when she comes back home tomorrow.

Meow,

Thanks to everycat who sent congratulatory messages, p-mails, and rosettes for my Daily Diary Pick yesterday. Also, my meowmy would like to thank you all for your concern and well wishes. Even though what she has can be a real nuisance at times, she is happy to know that it is nothing real serious.

Hope everycat has a nice weekend!

Newmies and Zoomies!

Meow,

For those cats who haven't read Poopology by Newman Strickland, I'd highly recommend you check it out, otherwise the rest of you will certainly know what this entry is about. The book has several contributions from various Catster cats, including myself. It is a very entertaining read.

You see, the past couple of mornings, meowmy has cleaned my litter and has noticed that I've been leaving some incredibly huge Newmies (poopies). She has also noticed that I've been doing the zoomies (where you run back and forth from room to room after you've deposited a newmie).

Otherwise, not too much is new with me. I'm just enjoying hanging with meowmy and taking my catnaps.

Getting Ready for Superbowl Sunday!

Meow,

Well as you might know I tend to root for the Green Bay Packers when it comes to football so naturally, I'm a little bummed they didn't make it to the Superbowl this year, so I've designated Super Bowl Sunday as Super Catnap Day! You see meowmy is going over by Grandmaw and Grandpaw's house that day and will probably watch a little of it, but certainly won't be glued to the television. They are also ordering pizza, which in my younger days would have been delicious, but I don't eat people food so much anymore.

Anymeow, hope everycat enjoys their weekend and Happy Ground Hog Day today!

Great Lakes Pet Expo

Meow,

Today meowmy went to the Great Lakes Pet Expo. Unfortunately, pets couldn't come unless they were with a certain vendor. Well, that was o.k. because meowmy brought me home plenty of treats and goodies and from what she told me she had a pawsome time.

She brought me home some yummy cat treats from a local pet food bakery and a few other cat treats. She also bought me a nice, soft pink mat with peace signs on it and my favorite present - a big, homemade catnip kick toy that has pirates all over it. She also bought me a little stuffed caterpillar that she won and Newman if you are reading, you'll love this, she won it by paying a dollar to scoop a plastic poopie out of a litter box. What meowmies won't do for us cats! She also had a very cute drawing made of me by this artist that was at my vet clinic's booth. Meowmy has it hanging on her bedroom wall.

While she was at the show, she got to look at and pet several little kittens. She got hand kisses from a pitbull doggie that was really sweet. Meowmy told me that there was supposed to be a pitbull there that was rescued from the whole Michael Vick situation. She doesn't think she actually saw it though. She also got to hold a pretty orange rat snake. She also saw some king snakes and some corn snakes. There was also a really huge, yellow python there that she got to touch. She also got to touch a cute little leopard gecko. Also, meowmy saw some really cute baby ragdoll kitties there and thought of my friends Mittens, Tiskers, and Porkchop. She wishes she could have brought some of the animals home, but one she doesn't have the money to take care of all of them and two, I would not be a happy camper. You see, I am the princess after all. I really would not like having to compete with another animal for meowmy's attention.

Anymeow, today has turned out to be a really pawsome Saturday. As I said in a previous diary entry, I'm just going to take it easy tomorrow on Superbowl Sunday and make it my catnap day.
