TAPAZOLE

May 19th 2013 5:36 pm

This is to let everycat know that I've been on Tapazole ( 2 little pink pills a day) for about a week for my slightly overactive thyroid. I have no adverse reactions so far; no vomiting or lethargy. One thing for sure, my itches haven't gone away as of today. Maybe it takes longer than a week before the drug fully works.

Next Saturday, Mommy takes me to the vet for followup blood work to see how well the Tapazole is working. If everything goes well, I stay on these two low dose pills per day for the rest of my life.

So, I'd appreciate some purrs that everything works out well and these pills keep my thyroid working normally.

Can you believe it? Joss and me are honored today for our Mother's Day Diaries! Cool!!

Thank you Diary Gal for this honor! I also thank my pawsome friends for their gifts & concats:

1. ANGEL BUDDIE & Family - pawsome pawmail;
2. MILO BLUE EYES & Family - cool blue rosette;
3. SMILEY CASSANOVA - pawsome pawmail.

Also,we got cold weather again. It's only 59 degrees now with an expected high of 61. Tomorrow it's to be 64 degrees. We won't have windows open days until Wednesday when it's supposed to be 79 degrees. I can't wait!

Lastly, Joss bought Mommy a toy mouse this morning. She meowed while she carried it upstairs in her mouth and dropped it at Mommy's feet. She does exactly what I did when I was a youngster! Way to go, Joss! You're one smart cookie!

Well, that's it for now.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

I wish our Mommy and all Mommies in the world, a Happy Mother's Day!

I was good to our Mommy today by giving her many licks and singing to her. Also, it made her feel good to see that my leaky, squinty, right eye is doing better today.

As to my blood work, the vet called Mommy late on Friday night, and she found out that I'm going to be put on Tapazole for my slightly overactive thyroid. The vet believes this is why I dropped down to 11 lbs and also it could be the reason why I get the itches. Anyway, she gets to pick up the Tapazole after work tomorrow and then I get the pills the first thing Tuesday a.m. Hopefully, these pills will work on me and make me bulk up a bit and stop itching.

Lastly, we sent out some freebee #1 Mom trophies. I also thank everycat who sent them to our Mommy.

Well, that's it. Time for a nap and then my heart meds when I wake up.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

VET VISIT

May 5th 2013 6:06 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 5 people already have ]

Mommy took me to the vet on Saturday to have a complete physical and a full panel blood work. The blood work will be ready this coming Monday.

I have lost some weight. Hopefully I don't have any health issues that have caused my drop in weight. I used to weigh 11.8 lbs and now I'm an even 11 lbs.

Send me purrs that the results are nothing serious. Having heart disease is enough to deal with.

Well, I must be on my way. I can't believe how fast these weekends go.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

CHECK UP NEXT SATURDAY

April 28th 2013 10:12 am
[ Leave A Comment ]

Mommy scheduled a check up for me for next Saturday 'cause she believes I'm getting too skinny! (maybe Merl can give me those 2 lbs the vet wants him to lose) MOL!

Anyway, she told the receptionist to book the appointment about the above issue. She believes they'll run a complete blood panel on me which needs to be done anyway. She also says my right eye doesn't look like the left one (I squint). Oh boy! Always something around here! If it isn't Mommy getting all these scares this year, it's us kitties getting stuff that scares her too!

We hope and pray that everything with my health turns out okay. Maybe the vet will have to give me a special dry food to make me pack on the weight.

Lastly, we had a lovely day yesterday. It was sunny and got up to 70 degrees! Mommy had three upstairs windows open for us kitties to lay in and soak up the sun. I did that in the bedroom window as it's the only upstairs one I can leap into from the bed to the windowsill perch. The downstairs one's aren't open until it gets warmer and only during the daytime or when she's at home.

Also, Mommy didn't hear about the results of her wearing the heart monitor last Saturday. They told her it would be ready this past Friday, and she still didn't hear anything. We're praying and purring that she doesn't have to take the same meds as I do for any heart-related problems. She's hoping the palpitations are only the result of her stressful job and eating chocolate. By the way, she stopped the chocolate (mostly chocolate chip cookies) for over a week now and the palpitations have lessened. Also, MSG makes her have those palpitations. A lot of food has it in there. Mostly, the fast food places and Chinese restaurants. Whenever she eats Chinese, she orders their no MSG low fat dinners.

Well, that's about it. I hope everycat is enjoying their weekend.

I'M SWEET 16 TODAY!

April 6th 2013 8:22 am
[ Leave A Comment | 4 people already have ]

On April 6, 1997 I was born in a trailer park in a town called Lexington Park, MD. My Dad was an apparent Maine Coon named Sampson and had long silver hair. My Mom was named Skimpy and was 1/2 Siamese with other half being domestic short hair. I also had four brothers, two shorthairs and two longhairs like me.

My now Mommy took me home to where she used to live at that time, and I was introduced to my other sibs, Bentley, Max and Jasmine Bibette. Bentley took me under his wing and we ended up having the greatest bond ever. Jasmine didn't like me at all because I was interfering with her's and Bentley's bond and Max was too sick to be bothered with anycat.

Now, in the present, I have another very close bond with Landy; we groom each other constantly and sleep together a lot. We also have some wrestling matches which I don't care for as I'm older now and my joints aren't as limber as they used to be.

Jocelyn Mae and I have also started to form a licking type of bond; she licks the top of my head a couple of times and I return same.

Bail and Merl are tolerated and we haven't formed any thick bonds. Once in a while I give Bail a small lick on his head. Merl and I just sniff each other and walk away.

Anyway, I'm hanging in there as best as I could with my restrictive cardiomyopathy which was diagnosed in September 2009. I'm on pills to help my old ticker do its job and to control its irregular beats. I thank God that I'm still here and glad that Mommy has a cardiologist to help monitor my heart once a year.

Now, I thank HQ for the yummy birthday cake and my following pawsome friends for their gifts and comments:

1. GLEEK - cool kite;
2. TINY & Family - cool baseball;
3. MILO BLUE EYES & Family - cute bluebird;
4. FRISKIE & Family - cute bluebird;
5. MARMELADE - pretty tulips, lovely picture and cool comment;
6. BEAR & Family - cool baseball.

Lastly, Mommy took some pics of Landy and I sleeping. This is how we spent my birthday. MOL!

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

HAPPY EASTER!

I also wish everycat a Happy Easter!

I'm doing fine except my right eye was acting up. Mommy had some ointment left over from last time (expires next year) so she applied it for a couple days. As of today, my eye is much better. I think I got something in it which made it leak gooey stuff and made me squint.

Also, Bail's birthday is on April 2nd and mine is on April 6th. Joss' birthday will be in June. It's hard to believe that she'll be 1 year old and looks like a 3 year old (size-wise)! Also, she's letting me wash her and she washes me. For a long time, she only wanted to wrestle me.

Anyway, I'm going to keep it short.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

WINTER'S LAST STAND

March 6th 2013 4:05 am
[ Leave A Comment | 4 people already have ]

We're supposed to have a nasty snowstorm today and the news people are calling it "Winter's Last Stand". Right now, it's nothing to get freaked out about. There's a slight frosting on the grass and the roofs of cars. The roads are clear. Later on, the temps are supposed to drop and then this mixture of mostly rain with a little snow will become all snow and reach about 5" or more. I hope not! One inch will do, just enough for Mommy to get a few snow pics with her new camera.

Mostly, we don't want to lose power. We want the warmth and of course our computer, music and phones. As to TV, we can do without that for a day or two.

Lastly, I send on behalf of all of us, a belated concats to Joss for her DDP yesterday. Way to go, Sis!

Got to run.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

THIS WEEKEND

March 3rd 2013 5:39 pm
[ Leave A Comment ]

First of all, I thank Marmalade for the lovely heart and his concerns for our Mommy and me. We're doing fine. She feels much better since her blood work is benign and my heart meds are still keeping me going strong. I even wrestle a bit with our young sis, Joss!

She's quite a tomboy as she plays rough and loves it. She's not submissive nor scared of her brothers like Jasmine Bibette or Cam were.

Anyway, Mommy's been busy this weekend. She spent most of it in the garage getting her car fixed as the check engine light wouldn't go off and the vehicle would sputter whenever she stopped at a light or stop sign. Everything's fine with the car now; it runs like brand new.

Today, she was working on our St. Patrick's Day pages most of the time. There's still a few finishing touches left.

Well, I must be on my way now. I hope everycat had a great weekend.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy

THANK YOU!

Thank you so much Timmy Tomcat and Princess Sophie for your concerns for our Mommy! She's doing much better and is catching up on a lot of sleep she missed worrying about her health in the past few weeks.

Anyway, not much else is going on except the months are going by really fast. Soon, Bail and I will have a birthday in April. I'll be 16 years old and he'll be 8 years old. Can you believe that? Bail was almost a year old when he joined Catster in March of 2006!. Yep, our anniversaries are coming up too!

As to Joss, she's a color-shifter. When Mommy first got her, she was mostly a black cat except for some gray on her tummy. Now, she has a red ruff (not as bright as the camera brings out but more of a diluted red). In fact, there are a few long gray hairs showing up on her tail. Her britches also have gray stripes on them (like racing stripes, in fact). Mommy believes Joss is a black smoke tortie. She read that black smokes don't get their full color until they're a year old or more.

Anyway, Mommy wants to make Joss a show cat soon. I know our sis will bring in a lot of rosettes as she's really pretty. I wish her the best of luck.

Well, that's about it. It's my bedtime.

Purrs & Breeps,

Sampy
