Arrival Story: Our neighbor moved and left behind their female Maine Coon. She started coming over to our yard and was very friendly. We didn't know that she was pregnant until one day I came home from work and there she was with two kittens on our porch. She and the kittens were taken to the vet and checked out, and when the kittens were old enough and had been weaned Tigger and her brother, Mr. Whiskers, stayed with us and their mother Pugsly was adopted by a nice lady at the vet clinic.
On November 27, 2010, Tigger slid out the front door and disappeared. I searched for her for two months, going door to door and checking everywhere, but no sign of her. We had a hard winter with freezing weather starting the night she disappeared and I was certain that she had died of exposure. Then, one night in April, I was getting something out of my car and I heard this familiar meowing. It was dark and I could barely see the cat but as soon as she ran into my neighbor's driveway and started rolling around I was fairly sure it was Tigger, though I didn't quite believe it. She wouldn't let me get near her so I went into the house with the intention of going back out with a flashlight. Before I could even get the flashlight she was at the door, meowing, and all I had to do was open it and in she walked!
Wherever she was for those five months, she was kept inside because she was clean, not hungry and her long fur wasn't matted. I believe she was abused though, because she would get scared and run away at sounds that had never bothered her before. I assume she was finally able to escape from whoever had her and found her way back home.

Bio: Tigger and her brother don't interact much with the other cats in the household. Tigger also doesn't like having her picture taken and will run from the camera.
