Arrival Story: For our GS Silver, my friend and I held an event at Pet World to collect donations of pet supplies to give to four local shelters. One of these was GRASP. GRASP works closely with Pet World, and usually has a cat or two at Pet World. My friend and I spent two weekends there - and fell in love with the cute little blue-black and white kitten-cat mewing pitifully in the cage by the window! Then my mom fell in love too, and convinced my dad, and a few days later Phantom came home!
Bio: Phantom was originally called Miles. We renamed him Phantom, because at the time my friend and I were in the middle of a Phantom of the Opera craze, and we swore that Phantom looked like he had the Phantom of the Opera's half-mask on his face. And the black patch on his back looked like a cloak. And his yellow-gold eyes were eerie, as we were used to Patches' pretty green ones. And he was small and silent. Then he gained ten pounds and got a bell, and now he's a loveable bumbling disaster, but he still looks like the Phantom of the Opera. When we first got him, GRASP told us this story: When he was first found, Miles was thought to be too wild to be put up for adoption. He hissed and scratched, etc. On the day he was to be euthanized, he was backed in a corner in a room with dogs in it, hissing and scratching, etc. A worker came rushing in, scooped him up, and Miles buried his head in the worker's elbow. The worker said, "See? He's just scared." She called GRASP, and Miles was put up for adoption. I just want to say a huge thank you to that worker, whoever you are. We love him like crazy, and I hope you get to know what you did for us.

I've Been On Catster Since:
What is it with girls? My older sister Patches would never play with me, and my new little sister Jillian won't leave me alone. What's a guy to do?
It took me a while to figure out that Patches wasn't coming back. As much as I hate to admit it, I was sort of lost without her. And without someone to chase, well... I kinda got lazy.
Then about a week ago the family went off somewhere and came back with Jillian, only her name was Radon then. I don't know why. But anyway I didn't actually meet her until this week. She's cute, I guess, but she's a little annoying. Like, she loves to run at me and scare me, or steal my food, or reach up and lick me - ew! Cooties. But I don't mind too much because she's really good at tag, and she's not aloof like Patches was. Of course, I still kinda miss Patches, but I think Jilly and I are gonna get along better.
