I promised an update after my vet appointment yesterday. My vet believes I may have IBD and an inflamed pancreas. My intestinal wall is slightly thickened...she says that could be inflammation from the bad diarrhea bout I had. I had an in-house blood panel done and my Amylase was high, which is what indicated the inflamed pancreas.
Regarding my CRF, my Creatinine level has increased and my BUN level has decreased since my last blood panel. My vet recommended increasing my fluid sessions to twice a week and she prescribed an anti-nausea medicine for me to take. As of now I am taking a high blood pressure medicine, an antacid and now the anti-nausea medicine.
I want to thank Finney, Lacey and Angel Alex's mom for emailing with my mom about IBD. (Their mom has the IBD Kitties website.) My mom got some good information on foods and such that may help with IBD.
I will see my vet again in two weeks for a recheck. I sure could use some healing purrs my friends.
what caused ur high blood pressure? and is this IBD thingy something very serious??
Hi Pharaoh Purrince Tao,
The high blood pressure is caused by my Chronic Renal Failure (CRF). It has to be treated with high blood pressure medicine or there is a risk of stroke or blindness. The IBD is serious because it can cause chronic diarrhea and inflammation internally, which can lead to loss of appetite and weight loss. Since I already have CRF, adding IBD to my body is not a good thing. But, hopefully if it can be controlled by diet, etc. I will have some time left to spend with my family. :)
We are so sorry to hear about the IBD, Uncle Tigger. We know you are a strong Uncle and can fight this too. Their IBD site should be very helpful.
We have you in our thoughts and purrs as usual. Tell your Mom to give you a big hug and kiss for both of us.

Oh Tigger, is not good news. Happy Finney, Alex, & Lacey's mama is he'pin. She so smart 'bout this stuff. I's purrin fur ya too.
Hi everyone! My ears are burnin', MOL! Hi Tiggs sweetheart. We love you sweetie, and we're here to help you in every way possible. Hi Pharaoh Purrince, IBD is serious and it can range from minor inflammation to very severe parts of it like I had. Tigger's pancreatitis (that's what an inflamed pancreas is) is due to his IBD and MUST be treated soon.
Tigger we're gonna talk to your meowmy about that. That's painful stuff. IBD is not curable but yes, can be controlled although having other illnesses does not make it easy. But look at Norman! The vet gave up on him and sent him home all jaundiced! He's feeling so much better (hope I didn't jinx that) and we could not be happier.
If anyone here would like to read more about IBD and what happened with me, please go to www.ibdkitties.net.
We are sending you lots of purrs! We love you much and I understand...I have pancretitis. Please know we're purring for you in unison.
Purring for you to feel better soon. Even though IBD isn't a desired diagnosis, this will hopefully allow your vet to alleviate your discomfort!
You were there purring for me Buddy...I am here for you.
That Pancreas stuff is not fun....
Alex's Mom has so much important information on her site.
For now we have to get you feeling better.
Hang in there..my friend.
Sorry to hear about the IBD, pal, but you know we're all purring for you and hoping that things get settled and you get back to feeling better soon!
Alex's Mom is an angel in her work. Take care of yourself.
Oh Tigger, our furmily is so sorry to hear that you have IBD on top of CRF! We are thankful that your Vet has a purrlan of action, and is treating you for it. Good luck to you and your pawrents when they give you fluids. Purrlease don't fight them when they give them to you...they are only doing it because you need the fluids to survive. Meowmy and my family are all praying for you to feel better soon. We love you, and want you to have a lot of time left to be with your family. Get well soon my furiend!
Laura Belle, Daisy, Blue II, E.J., and Furmily

I am sorry Tigger, I don't know how I missed this. Sorry about the IBD. My bro, Wally had a terrible time with it.But today there is so much more good info out there. Alex's mom knows a lot. I am glad you found her.
