Arrival Story:
Rascal originally belonged to my grandmother, then to my parents after my grandmother died. My parents were never really "cat people," so after my husband and I bought our first house, we brought Rascal to live with us. That was about 6 years ago, and she's been here ever since.

After a short battle with a fast-growing cancer, Rascal passed away March 22, 2006. Although in some discomfort at the very end of her life, we believe she was happy right up to the end. We miss her.

More trips to the vet...

Well, unfortunately, my sore paw turned out to be a bad infection mixed with some cancer. The vet and my parents thought it would be best to have the toe removed so I had surgery. As you can imagine, I wasn't too happy about the whole idea, especially having a bandage wrapped around my paw for 2 days. But it's been about 2 weeks since the operation and I'm just about back to normal. It didn't take me long to readjust my balance and get along without that infected toe.

Thursday, I'm off to the vet again for a follow-up visit and to have my chest x-rayed to make sure I don't have cancer anywhere else. Keep your fingers crossed, everyone!

A Visit to the Vet

Hi, everyone,

My usually uneventful life has recently been interrupted by a trip to the vet. Seems I have a stubborn paw infection. One of my "toes" is very swollen and smells a little funky. The doctor gave me a shot of antibiotics today and my parents are going to give me antibiotic pills twice a day for the next two weeks.

Like most of you humans out there, I don't really enjoy getting poked and prodded by the doctor. But I knew I needed some medical attention, so I didn't complain too much about being put in my cat taxi and riding in the car.

I feel pretty good mostly, except that I'm more tired than usual. It would be nice if all you visitors to my site could send me a treat to help these antibiotics go down a little easier.

I'll keep you posted on my progress!
