Jackson's first home was with a Marine Corps wife while her husband was away in the Middle East. When the Marine came home, he said "cat's gotta go" so Jackson's mom took him to the cat rescue folks at a local pet store, but there was no room in the in. His new "dad" had taken a trip to Jacksonville and was browsing the pet store, where the workers knew him as a big time animal lover. They sought him out and brought him over to hear the kitty's sad story. His fate was to be taken to the "kill" shelter or dumped in the parking lot, unless someone took pity on him at that moment. When Jackson spoke up with his pleading "meow" the decision was made... and my SO called me on his way home to find out if he -- and Jackson -- still HAD a home or if they should keep driving! LOL
Jackson move to Fort Riley, KS a couple of months ago with my friend, and his good buddy, K. K is staying with his son-in-law and daughter for a bit, but had to come back to NC to tend to business and while he was gone, the kids were helping the neighbors move in and with all the people in and out, insufficient attention was paid to the cats, and Jackson took advantage of the open door.
He has been missing for about 3 weeks now and we want him BACK. Please, if you are on Fort Polk, keep an eye open. He likes people and will come to whistling (just don't tell him this is a DOG thing!). If you have seen him, email us at starwalker(at)gmail.com replacing the (a) with @ of course. Thanks! and in the meantime, prayers are also appreciated...
Jackson is a model! He is featured on the just published "Crystal Coast Calendar Girls" calendar, modestly showing off his tub-walking skills while his new mom bathes. ALL of the proceeds from sales of the calendar
- -- a take off on the original British calendar featuring mature women discretely bare -- will benefit Safe Harbor Farm and their not-for-profit mobile spay/neuter clinic.
