I was very sick and today you'd never know that ever happened to me. It's been a long time since I've written in my diary, but today is my birthday and I'm 9 years old! Geez, I'm catching up to my sister, Burbank, she's old!

I'm also a changed cat since my illness last year. I had so many people tending to me that I outgrew my shyness. And I don't eat like a bird anymore. I don't know why I turned into a hearty eater, but it's allowed me to gain a little weight so I don't look so skinny anymore. I'm more social and most people notice that right away about me. I'm still skittish with little kids, but not with adults that come to visit.

My favorite past time is laying in the sun, or in the young adult's room. I'll sit at the door and holler until someone lets me in her room.

Well, that's about it for now. Nothing special, just another year older, and very lucky to be alive and healthy!

I am feeling so good this past week, you never would have known I was such a sick kitty. Last night I took my last dose of liquid medicine, and I finished my last pill way before that. Whenever Mom came up to me I always checked to see if she had anything that looked like medicine in her hands, she was real tricky. A few times I hid under the cars in the garage, but they always found me in the end.

I used to eat very small amounts of food just a few times a day, but now I bug Mom to feed me a few times in the morning and quite a few times in the evening. See...I only eat a few morsels at a time and my kitty sisters and brother never leave left overs for me. There's no stopping me now, I enjoy food and I pursue until I get someone to feed me. And of course, I guzzle most of the water in the pink bowl. Mom loves to see me drink from there, she told me that if I hadn't come home that she was going to throw that pink bowl away because it reminded her of me. Apparently I was so jealous when they brought Lily home that I always tried to drink all the water so she couldn't get any. And yes, I still do that, but now it's so that Dylan can't get any water, hehehe...

My family has noticed that I'm more social too, musta been all those vets and technicians that treated me. I'm off of bedrest now, so Mom plays soccer with me but she's starting me off in short periods, and we even played with the lazer but she cut that short too.

The young adult lets me sleep in her room all day even if she's not home, and in the evening I come down to play and I usually beat Dylan up to show him that he's not the boss. Actually we just do a tumble and I bat at him once and I leave him shaking in his boots.

Speaking of boots, I still have my little black boots on my front paws. They shaved me and the teenager says I look like a poodle. Mom knows I'm sensitive and corrects her and says they are my "little black boots". I still have a shaved tummy and neck, and my hair just isn't growing very fast, but it doesn't bother me at all. I'm just so happy to be home and alive!

I haven't written in a long time and I guess I should update my diary. This may be long, but here it goes. Friday I turned my nose at breakfast and didn't hog the water dish, so Mom went looking for me and found me hiding. She took me to a new vet and he did blood tests, but had to sedate me cuz I wouldn't co-operate.

So Mom went back for the results on Saturday morning and was told I was probably diabetic and had a problem with my liver. She totally lost it, poor Mom. To make things worse I hid all day because my family was having a huge party. She and my human sisters kept finding me and checking on me, and they even took me outside to walk in the grass and smell the flowers that I love to see from the window. They thought they were losing me. I hid one more time and about 7pm they caravaned me to the animal hospital. See...they love me so much they filled two cars full of people. But I understand now, they thought they had to say goodbye to me.

The vet lady came in and said I had a 50/50 chance so Dad took out his credit card and my family left so the treatment and tests could get started on me. Mom called the hospital for an update at midnight. I felt bad and had lost a lot of weight very rapidly. I was lethargic and my calcium count kept going down. I had bloody diarrhea and wouldn't eat. They gave me a puffy paw bandage and my paw was bigger than the other one, but it was feeding liquids into me for nutrition and medicine.

The vet lady called Mom at 6am Sunday to update her. She could hear me meowing and was told I was bathing myself, but still not eating. My family came to visit me that night for almost two hours, and I was so happy, especially when my favorite girl, the young adult, came after work to hold me. I purred for her too. They were told to pick me up in the morning and take me to the vet's office and suggested an ultrasound.

Mom picked me up Monday morning and rushed me to the new vet by 8am. I still had the catheter in so they hooked me up and there we went again with more tests.

Tuesday morning they woke me to do an ultrasound. I didn't have a problem with that but why did they have to shave my belly? They also did more blood work and the only thing the vet suspects is an infection in my pancreas or liver and that all the antibiotics in my body since Friday was healing me. Mom and the vet talked a long time and agreed that I should come home. He said even the most hearty kitty eaters stop eating when they're being treated so he hoped I would come home and eat. That was the plan, for me to eat and not throw up. Mom and the teen came for me after school and I loved the car ride home. I checked every room in the house and turned my nose at my favorite wet food, well, I took four licks, but that was all. They took pictures of me and followed me everywhere. Two hours after my homecoming I decided to eat and I didn't throw up. Yay! Cuz I really don't want to go anywhere anymore. I want to stay home and stay well. I hope I can do that cuz I love my family and they must love me cuz Dad says I'm a $3,000 kitty now.

So I'm eating little at a time like I always do, and keeping it down, and now everyone treats me like a princess, I love it!

Today is my birthhhday!
Today is my birthhhday!
I just had to tell everyone! I am so excited! It's my day!

I'm usually very shy, but today I'm estatic and hyper. Mama played with me this morning before she had her cup of tea. We played soccer and then my favorite - the laser pointer.

Meows, kitty kisses, and purrs to everyone! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to everyone that also has an April birthday!

I just don't understand...yesterday I was walking past my Mom and she said something...and I kept going, minding my own business, and heading to the window to see if there were any lizards to drool over. But I heard her tell Dad, "look, she's just like you...I said something to her and she just keeps walking" and then she tells him his face turned all red. Whatever...

Maybe I should be proud that I'm just like Dad, I hope that's a good trait for cats. After all, I am the most mature and serious cat in this house. And I do sneak off to my human sister's room every morning after breakfast. She's an artist and her room has a calming effect on me. Hmm...I think I'll go see if she left her door open, it's my naptime...

Lily is really getting on my nerves. I tried playing soccer with Mom while Lily was in the garage and she runs in and takes over. I'm faster than her, but she doesn't understand that Mom and I had a routine every morning. She says "ready" and I get into position and she kicks the ball to me. Then I run like a jaguar and catch it, take it back to Mom and we start all over. Darn Lily. Remember all those things I said for your first birthday? I take it alllll back!

Thank You Thank You Thank You

I am so excited! Mom said my friend Morticia gave me a pretty blue Rosette on my page. She said she liked my pictures, and now I feel so special. That's my favorite color too! Thank you Morticia! If you were here I'd share my window with you, and we could watch the birdies together.

Happy Birthday Little Sister

Little Lil - I know I gave you a hard time when you first came to live with us. I admit I did everything possible to make you run away. I hissed and snarled at you everytime you came in the room even though you just wanted to snuggle up next to me. Mom kept telling me to be nice because you were only three weeks old when someone dumped you in a box and left you outside on a cold morning, and you missed your real mommy and brother and sisters. Today is your first birthday, and you know what? You're a cute little sister, and I like having you around to play with, especially since Burbank pretty much just lays around. I enjoy our morning wrestling, and I've gotten used to you hogging the toys. You're okay. Happy Birthday Little Lil!
