Arrival Story:
We were planning for a while to adopt a friend for B.A. and finally at the end of March 2013, the time seemed right. We headed to the Washington Humane Society to meet the cats we had viewed online. Our top choice was Jelly, since she had lived with a cat in her previous home (the photo of her pretty face certainly helped, too). She was surprisingly affectionate with us and the shelter staff considering her circumstances: we realized later that she had been surrendered to the shelter only a week before we adopted her! She meowed in her carrier the whole way home, and didn't like B.A. very much for the first few days (he came on a little strong). But after a week or two, they started play-fighting and grooming each other. Now they have sort of a love-hate relationship. But mostly love.

A few days after her last episode of health problems, Jelly started to feel better. She's been doing well since then, and continues to amuse us all with her antics.

Sick :(

Jelly's health has been pretty great for the past couple of years, and her asthma is under control, but now she's having stomach issues and is finally starting to eat a tiny bit of pureed chicken, but isn't back to her usual self yet, so we're taking her in to the vet again and she might need expensive tests :(

I hope we can get her feeling healthy and happy again soon. It's sad to see her feeling sick.

I was so worried about the cats' health that I haven't remembered to update. Jelly and B.A. are both doing quite well. Jelly's asthma attacks have not returned since that terrifying night at the end of May. She's on prednisolone once every other day to prevent symptoms and it's been working great. We have an albuterol inhaler and an Aerokat on hand in case either of our wee beasties have rapid breathing or the onset of an asthma attack.
