Arrival Story:
Believe it or not, being a cat lover was foreign to me until two months before my Gabby came into my life. A stray cat stumbled across the path of my goddaughter one day, who immediately wanted to take the cat home. Lucky for her, her dad acquiesced to her pleas. However, her mom was not too happy about having a cat in the house since they already had a young Beagle. So, they invited me over for dinner to meet the kitty, to which I liked at first sight. The plan was for me to take the kitty home as my own, however, my goddaugther & godson had already become quite attached to this kitty, and I just couldn't take him away from them. So then began the quest to adopt a cat of my own. Just when I started to search petfinder and local shelters for cats, I heard from the same friends that they knew someone who was desperately looking for a new owner for their cat. They had only had the cat for 9 months or so, and soon discovered that the cat was not a good fit for their family. They were also in the midst of relocating to a place were pets were not allowed. The cat was a senior cat and in the span of 2 years had lived with two owners and in a shelter...quite a lot of change for her I'm sure! Even though I thought my heart was set on adopting a kitten, I decided to visit this cat to see if she would be right for me. Long story short and to my delight, she was indeed perfect for me! So, over the course of the next week, I prepped my home for it to be "cat cozy" with warm beds, toys, food & treats, and other cat supplies. As soon as I brought her home, Gabby explored her new surroundings and has been by my side ever since. :)

* Gabby is a brown & tan Domestic Shorthair Tabby with beautiful black swirls and strips in her fur. * Gabby spent her early years without knowing the love and affection of human care, and spent the two years before I adopted her in several locations, so she was quite timid initially. During the time she's been with me, she's become a little more social with new people, and even though she does not particularly enjoy being picked up, she gives me lots of head-butts and likes to sleep at my feet.
