I have an appt on Friday. What I did find out, is that the place I went also has a 3rd location in the city, much closer, and that location is part of the University of Illinois Vet School. I am hoping that may mean reduced prices, and it is an excellent school - my daughter went there for Animal Science & Environmental Science.
I am thinking that the insurance may not kick in. Since he was born this way, I have a strong feeling they will consider it a pre-existing condition. Their goal really, is to not pay if they can see a way. I paid a fortune for Tig's illnesses, and he cannot even get insurance. I had thought by getting it for Smitty & Felix, I would be a step ahead. They did cover some of Smitty's tooth removal, so that made my bill less.
A few pals have mentioned about possible fund raising, and while I am a very proud person, and "take care of my business" I may need to ask for any help, I have no clue what this will cost, but I have no idea how to go about it. If anyone can give me any ideas on this, it would be great. I am not on FB though.
I am to fast him on Fri, because they may be able to do 1 surgery same day.
Just knowing how much you all care - I cannot tell you how much it means to me, and for my Feefer-kitty.

I'm sorry, we haven't been on here for awhile. What's going on with him that he needs surgery? There are things to use like i once used for Ingen's return home funds. That was a chip in which is no longer available but there are others just like it.
We're sending purrs for a easy surgery and quick recovery!
You don't have to be on Facebook - you can set up a special account with Paypal or a bank - if you need this, please let me know and will get her permission for you to contact her on how to go about it.
"Her" meaning the Catster member I can think of that has done this before.
We have Felix in our prayers and we know one way or the other he will be OK, thing shave a way of working out. Just know that even though you are proud and it is hard to ask for help your friends are here and ready to help. Alex's Mom is a good person to get in touch with to guide you in how to start the fundraising for Felix's surgery...it there is a way there is a will....and we know the will is there.
you thing you are doing right with getting insurance and bam you realize that things are not covered. My Zeke is covered but any respiratory issues he has will never be covered because when I adopted him he was always sick, then we found out he has asthma and I didn't have insurance yet...that will never be covered...one just never knows what the insurance will cover....maybe you should call them and ask...
Thanks for letting us know our sweet friend is going to the Vet...
Sending purrs and well wishes. You may want to check out
They are fund raising sites for people. I think they deal more with non-profits but they may be for individuals too. I think there's a site for individuals, I remember sending some money to a young couple who needed help with their vet bills a few years ago. But I can't find the email receipt to tell you where it is. Maybe it was kickstarter because they promised small gifts of appreciation for donations. I got a handmade kitty toy. Or if you want to be really simple, there's paypal if you have an account.
Sending purrs your way!
