Arrival Story:
Luna was found by a friend at a neighbors house, where a colony of feral cats lived. The woman at the house feeds them, and when my friend approached little Luna the woman suggested a different cat. Luna was 8 weeks and nearly blinded by conjunctivitis, her third eyelids covering her eyes almost completely. And although she was feral, tiny, and scared, she did not run away. My friend texted me about her, after previously offering 2 other cats for adoption (one was stolen, the other they kept and named 'Loki'). Luna was under a pound, severely emaciated, and sick. She had an URI and conjunctivitis. After she started feeling better, she began to act as a kitten should. She enjoyed playing with string, and napping on warm things. Being feral, little Luna didn't know how to use a litterbox. Luckily we had Oliver, our 16 pound polydactyl orange maine coon. Usually, he hisses and ignores new animals. Luna found a special place in his heart, and he became her 'Momma Cat'. He played with her, cleaned her, and showed her how to use the litterbox. Today, Luna is 11 months old, and weighs only about 4-5 pounds. Although she is tiny, she has the heart of a lion, and loves like no other cat. She is not afraid of new things, and she boldly faces any new challenge that she faces.

Bio:
We believe Luna to have some Sable Burmese in her. Her coat is a gradient of black, to brown, to black again, with some dark stripes on her head. She is a very small cat with a round face. She may have developmental disabilities, as she does not understand body language or territory. She knows when she should hiss and fluff her fur, but doesn't seem to understand when she is crossing lines. She also has spent an entire night licking a persons hand, she didn't seem to know why she was doing it. She has an unknown breathing problem that causes her to sound as if she is snoring whenever she breathes, and often times cannot meow or purr correctly because of it, though she still tries. *Update as of 5/31/12 Luna's breathing problem is either a migrated polyp, or a congenital defect. She also has an extra vertebrae in her spine, a result from inbreeding.
