Arrival Story:
William appeared on my back porch Sept 2010. I saw him fairly often during the fall, he was a friendly guy so I assumed he was someones inside/outside cat. As it got colder, I noticed he wasn't "plumping" up like other outside cats and became worried about him. One evening, as a large feral male was about ready to fight with him (William is a little guy), I hollered, "KITTY!!" and he came running over to me. I scooped him up and ran inside with him. No one responded to "found cat" notices and I never saw any "lost cat" listings so William stayed in my bathroom/bedroom until I was sure he was flea, worm and disease (FIV/FeLV) free. I also took him to be vaccinated at a local low-cost clinic. I really couldn't afford a 6th cat, so I held on to him until a space opened up at a no-kill shelter in Jan. 2011 (he was adopted within a week). I cried the whole way home, then would burst into tears every time I'd find a favorite toy of his over the next month or so. His adopter returned him this December (2011), he looked less healthy than when I first took him there. I still really don't need to add another cat, but he's so sweet and loveable... I didn't want to lose him a second time. I officially re-claim him on 12/23/11. Yep, I'm turning into a crazy cat lady!
