When my mum is reading her book or wactching TV like she was last night sometimes I like to have a cuddle. Surely normal behaviour for an affectionate cat?

What my mum thinks is weird is how I go about it. I stand on the arm of the sofa and fall sideways to land on my back. I think this is fine, I know she will catch me and I land in perfect tummy rubbing position. She says normal cats get comfy on the lap first and build up to the rolling on the back. That strikes me as a terrible waste of time! The first time I did it she thought I had made a mistake but cats never make mistakes and I knew exactly what I was doing.

Do others cats just tumble into position or am I odd like my mum says?

I love a tummy rub too but I have to say your way of getting it is a little bit odd but it takes all kinds of kitties to make the world go around mate. If you like this method of cuddling your mum then keep doing it. I agree with Blizzard's comment above my. What is really normal. Cats are far from normal in the first place.

Toby, you're normal. Your kind of normal. Like Bizz says there are all kinds of normal for cats. Mom thinks I'm not normal because I don't even like my tummy rubbed. It tickles. I like my back, neck and head rubbed but not my tummy.

You should get extra points for style and daring with that maneuver. Me, I'm partial to the lean. When I want to snuggle I lean into my mom and collapse against her.

I think that sounds like the perfect way to get a belly rub! By the way, did you see the entry in the Cat's Meow blog about how food in the other cat's dish tastes better? I thought of you!
