Arrival Story:
Sophie is a feral kitten who had been hanging around our housing development. We first saw her when we were driving home and she ran in front of our car into the storm drain. We started putting food out for any stray cats and she came around the house a few times. Finally we rented a humane trap and caught her.
Bio:
Sophie has been living with us for about 4 weeks. She started her life with us in the attached garage, and she was terrified for quite a while. Ian (Dad) tried to pick her up the second week and she chomped down on his finger! We started leaving the garage door open into the house and she started coming and sitting in the doorway and finally coming into the house. Now she lives in the house permanently and has taken over the spare bedroom. She loves to stay under the bed until she feels like coming out and being sociable. She sits around us but still doesn't want anyone touching her. She loves her brother Brutus and follows him everywhere. She wants him to play with her and he will only once in a while but he does have a reputation to think of, as the big adult tom cat in charge of the house who is too sophisticated to play with his kitten sister.
We love Sophie very much and can't wait until she lets us pet her and sit on our laps.

Sophie came home!:
Sophie disappeared on August 16 and came home 2.5 months later! On November 2, 2006, she came back to us. She is very thin, but has put on weight during the past week she has been home. Her two brothers were a bit unsure at first, but now they are used to her, and it is just like old times. We are so grateful that she is home. It's a miracle!
