I got these clumpies by my rear end. Big clumps of matted fur. My momcat kept trying to get rid of them, but everytime she tried I meowed and got mad. She finally cut them, but they were still there close to my skin. It sure didn't feel very good to me. She got a wire comb called a flea comb and told me to hold still. Like that is going to happen. She took that comb and it pulled my clumpies out. It didn't feel very good and I let her know it. I meowed and gave her a smackey paw. Then she did it again. Now my clumpies are all gone and I feel so much better. My momcat told me that if I wasn't so chunky I could clean myself better. I can't belive she told me I was chunky. She calls me her tootsie roll. Do you ever get any clumpies, if so, how does your momcat get rid of them?

Bet you are glad to be rid of those clumpies! I got some a few months ago - my momma used a stripping comb that she uses on the dogs to get rid of them.

Ahhh sweet Abby I sorry U had to go through alla dat 'n gettin' rid o' dem clumpies~! But Ur purrfect mommy got 'em out 'n dat'z a good thang~! I don't get any o' dem fur balls guess coz my fur so short 'n Milo don't either. Long haired furrs get 'em but I think good brushin' often will keep 'em 'way. How dare her call U chunkie~! But momkat sez I'm gettin plumpy too~! Hmmffft~!
I guess da on'y clumpies we see iz in our litter box~!!! MOL~!

Now that I am elderly, and since my surgery...yes. I can't groom very well. Daddy has a clipper thing for his beard and he went zzzzzz on my clumpies..and they came off. It felt funny, but did not hurt.

Jezebel, that stripping comb sounds as bad as the flea comb my momcat used.

Mallee, I have short fur but still get those clumpies as I'm so chunky I can't reach that area very well.

Bella, that is a interesting method I will have to tell my momcat. It sounds better than that flea comb.

I feel for you Abby! I get mats on each side near my tail. My mom uses a flea comb as gently as she can, but it still tugs at my fur! :( I am chunky too and have medium/short fur.

Thank you Pippin, I don't feel so bad now. I guess we are lucky to have a momcat or dadcat that cares for us as much as they do. We sure are lucky kitties.
