Other cats that might try to steal her food
She's still working on how to play, but she's learning!
Favorite Nap Spot:
Behind furniture, so she can see who comes in before they see her.
Chicken breast, cooked and chopped into bite-sized pieces ;)
Very good balance, jumping, and climbing abilities.
Last winter the Guardians of the Palace noticed an Intruder who occasionally came to peer through the windows, and then as the weather warmed up, to sniff. A little over a month ago a neighbor brought her over - she was caught in a humane trap that another neighbor had set due to stray cats messing up his lawn. The neighbor knew we had a tortiseshell and wanted to be sure she wasn't ours.
She was extremely thin, and obviously didn't have a home.
Initially we called her 'Tortie', but she felt silly answering to an appearance-based nickname, so we sat down with her and discussed name options. She chose Chanel, pronounced like the perfume, because she's beautiful, refined, elegant - and has a few patches of coco(a) colour :)
She is currently recovering well from spaying and will be going in to get shots quite soon. She's not totally sure about this vet business, but if she really has to go, she quite approves of Dr. Kombert and his staff at Yorkshire Veterinary Clinic in Colorado Springs. Dr. Kombert agrees that she's approximately a year old and is in good health.
Since moving in, Chanel has worked very hard at her socilization skills with humans. She's working on learning to play, and on learning which items are and are not for her use - and why would people put shelves on the wall if they weren't intended as stairs for cats anyhow??
She is not nearly as approving of other cats. Chanel spends most of her time in a seperate room, with seperate food, water, and toilet facilities. After a year on her own, she can't quite believe other cats aren't rivals.
Chanel enjoys the 'Birdfeeder' channel outside the window, snuggling with people, and quiet naps under or behind furniture. She's eagerly waiting for the right FOREVER home!
We don't know for sure how old she is, or any info on her parentage. She's a very brave little lady - first she survived on her own, and then she's worked hard to adjust to life indoors. She's meticulous about litter-box use and is a very dainty eater.
