Arrival Story:
A while ago I became interested in getting a purebred cat and after lots of research, I decided a Cornish Rex would be the perfect companion for me. After some more searching I found Texas Rexes Cattery, and contacted the owner. When the litter was born there were 2 black and white males and another buyer was allowed to have the first pick. When I saw the pictures I knew exactly which kitten I was hoping to get, and I was so happy when the other buyer chose his brother. Anyways, the owner sent me pictures every week and I fell in love more and more. After almost 3 months of waiting I finally got to go pick up my kitten and bring him home. I couldn't be happier, Solo is a wondeful pet!

Solo's Modern Life:

No More Balcony for Solo :(

I live in a third story apartment that has a balcony, and Solo loves to go out there and sniff around and sit in a chair and watch the birds and people. Well, the other day I was home on my lunch break so I let him out on the balcony for a while to get some fresh air. When it was time for me to go back to work, I went out onto the balcony and he wasn't there. So, I proceeded to search the whole apartment for him. When I still couldn't find him it hit me that he may have fallen off the balcony, so I ran as fast as I could outside and down the stairs. I didn't see him anywhere so I called his name twice, and sure enough he came running out of some nearby bushes. He was crying at first because I'm sure it gave him a pretty bad scare, but thankfully he wasn't injured. Let's just say Solo will no longer be lounging on the balcony unless I'm out there with him and watching his every single move! MOL!

Solo Meets Porkchop

About a month ago I started pet-sitting for a family that has a miniature potbelly pig named Porkchop. This weekend I was asked to pet-sit again and the owner said she didn't mind if I lounged around the house while taking care of the pig. Of course I take Solo pretty much everywhere I go, so I brought him along. His reaction to Porkchop was hilarious. He immediately arched his back and watched the pig's every move. Over the weekend Solo got a little more used to Porkchop (who was very curious to meet him) but was still extremely cautious and preferred to keep his distance. He did however have a great time exploring the pig's backyard!

Trip to the Vet

Now that Solo has hit the 4 month mark, it was time to take him to get his final FVRCP booster and his rabies shot. I was so proud of him for being such a good boy in the waiting room (I take him on a leash instead of in a carrier). The vet tech fell in love with him immediately, as did the veterinarian who insisted on taking him in the back to show him to everybody. She also said that after seeing him she defintiely thinks that black&white Cornish Rex's are the cutest, heh heh. The best part of the visit though was that Solo didn't mind the shots at all, and the vet said he looks amazing and healthy. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful cat as my best lil buddy.
