Arrival Story:
Our princess diva, Ollie Popoki had been acting lethargic, needy and bored. I made the comment that perhaps she needed a playmate. Much to my surprise "Da" agreed and off we went, to visit the adoption days at the pet stores. At the second store, close to closing time, we saw a little orangie in a quadra-condo with six other kitties. We were delighted to learn she was a "she." It was chaos in the store. People were everywhere and dogs were barking constantly, but it didn't seem to faze her as we tooks turns holding her. We were taken with her golden orangeness and her sage colored eyes.

Bio:
Blossoms story: The people I thought were my forever family left me behind when they moved out of their mobile home. Up to then I was well cared for...spayed and all that. The caretaker and a real estate agent made sure I was fed. They kept putting me outside the trailer, but I kept finding my way back in! mol!! The caretaker contacted a lady (a vet tech) who lived in the park and asked her to take me. She has six kitties of her own, but she fostered me for 8 months until I was ready to go to the rescue to be adopted. She made sure I was well socialized and was current on all innoculations and that I looked beautiful. I stayed at the rescue for less than two weeks when Mam and Da found me. I was a good girl when they held me, hoping they would like to take me home with them. But they weren't prepared and made an appointment to pick me up the next day. I am a stocky girl....my legs are on the short side, so is my tail! I love to play with Ollie's - er my peacock feathers and the 'nip! Oh my! The nip! Love that 'nip!

This morning just as I was reaching my fabulous peak of meow-nagging for an early lunch, Mam scooped me up 'n we went into the bedroom. She burritoed me. Yup, that's right! She wrapped me up good 'n tight in a little blanket. Then she proceeded to put drops in my eyes. I didn't put up a fight because the drops acktally feel good. She puts them in when she sees me squinting. THEN......she unwrapped me but wouldn't let me go. Can you guess what she did next??? It was pawdicure time. Acktally that wasn't so bad either, although by the time she got to the last two claws, I was ready to call it quits. mol! When I do that she cuddles me 'n wispers kewt little things in my ears to help keep me calm. Boy was I glad when she was done. There is no lesson here. I will keep on meow-nagging and when it needs to be done, Mam will burrito me. I am a vurrry good meow-nagger.

No more bells around the neck....

Yay! Mam finally took the bells of Ollie 'n me. We've been wearing them for a long time 'n even learned how to walk wifout making them jingle, which was the purpose of wearing them (she likes to know where we are) . But that isn't why she took 'em off. She took 'em off because she read an article about keeping us safe from predatory animals like coyotes 'n bobcats. It said for kitties not to wear bells 'cuz the predators could hear them 'n try to come for us. We do not go outside 'cept on the pool deck inside the screen cage, but a determined animal could break through. Mam says even though she liked hearing our bells, she would rather play it safe. "N now we can stalk the birds 'n bunns right up to the screen wifout them hearing us 'n we can sit there, real quiet 'n watch them for just the longest time!

That's all today.

just call me....

Life in Florida - an overdue update....

First, I must thank Mam for finally breaking away from her own personal stuff and giving some time to Ollie Pop and me so that we can fulfill our obligations here. She has become just too busy to think of us! But hah! I meowed and meowed and meowowowowowed to the point where she threw up her hands and said "OK! OK! OK! I'll help you with your diary!" (I knew I could wear her down!)

We have it pretty good here. I like playing around the pool, but I haven't fallen in any more. Hah! I might "fall" for something once, but that's all. (Did you notice how I said "fall?" MOL!) I do have a very important pool job, though. When Mam is swimming her laps, I often walk along the edge, cheering her on and when I get tired of walking back and forth, I sit at the end so she can give me a kiss before she swims back the other way. Da calls me her little lifeguard.

We aren't allowed out in the pool area after dusk until sunrise because of the critters here. No, we don't have a gater problem here because we have a seawall and they can't climb up, but there are bobcats, coyotes and rattle snakes. The other day Ollie and I were in the house looking out past the pool. When Da looked to see what we were looking at, he saw a bobcat, sitting in the flower bed, right up against the screen. That has made all of us a little nervous.

Well, Mam says my time is up so I have to say "'Bye for now...."

just call me....
