Last weekend's cat show

Mom took Vinny and I to an ACFA cat show in Jefferson, WI (Madison area) Dec. 29-30. It was a 2 day show with 10 rings. There were 27 cats in my class. I did very well! I made the judges' finals in 3 rings. I got 10th, 8th, and 6th Best All Breed.

ACFA show

Mom took Vinny and I to an ACFA show in Janesville, WI on Sat. It was a one day, 6 ring show. It was a large class with 28 Alters. I did manage to make one final, that judge gave me 9th Best All Breed Alter. Mom is happy I got a final in a large class.

Mom took us to a CFA cat show in Springfield, IL last weekend. Unfortunately, I did not make any of the judges' finals. We were a little disappointed, but that happens sometimes. Tonkinese are often considered the most difficult breed to judge, and natural is a difficult color for a Tonk too. However, I was a "fan favorite" and many spectators "ohh'ed" and "ahh'ed" over me. I'm a great ambassater for my breed.

Mom also entered me, Vinny, and Linus in Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) Halloween costume contest on CFA's Facebook. I'm a Harley Rider, Vinny is a Green Bay Packer, and Linus is a devil.

Last weekend's show...

Mom took Vinny and I to a CFA cat show in the Twin Cities last weekend Sept. 29. I did okay, but not quite as well as Mom had hoped. I only made one final - Shorthair Specialty 10th Best Shorthair in Premiership. I officially got 4 Grand Premier points. 75 cumulative points are required for the title of Grand Premier in CFA. After 2 shows as a Premier, I have a cumulative total of 15 points. We'll take what we can get though.

This Weekend's ACFA show

Mom took Vinny and I to a local ACFA show this weekend. I did pretty well. I made finals in 4/8 rings. I got 8th, 9th, and 10th Best All Breed. Mom was pretty happy I did well! Mom was also asked to help show a new exhibitor the ropes today, which she enjoyed.

Trupanion

Trupanion (the pet insurance company we use) had a contest for "How my pet changed my life." Mom wrote a story about me, and we got picked for an award - a $25 PetCo gift card! Here's the story Mom wrote:


My Tonkinese cat, Rider, came to me at a time when I really needed him. In January 2010 I lost my shelter cat, Mr. Fez, very suddenly from complications of a urinary blockage. He was only 4 years old, and I was heartbroken. My European Burmese, Linus, was very bonded to Mr. Fez, and missed his best friend. Linus started annoying my 14 year old shelter cat, Mickey, and I. Poor Mickey didn't appreciate Linus' antics at his age! I needed another kitty to love, and Linus needed a new friend (before he drove Mickey and I nuts!) but I wasn't sure what route I wanted to go...

A friend suggested the Tonkinese breeder she got her Tonk from. I contacted the breeder, and Rider was available at 6 months old. I decided Rider would be the perfect new addition to the family, and new friend for Linus. Rider moved in the end of February 2010. Initially Linus was NOT happy to meet his new best friend. He would hiss and growl at Rider... and Rider (who could clearly tell when someone was blowing smoke) would just walk right on by. That really seemed to irk Linus! Linus quickly figured out he had another young cat to play with, and started making play advances. You could see the confused look on Rider's face "You've been calling me every name in the book for days... and NOW you want to play!" Linus and Rider soon became best friends, and Linus wasted no time showing him all the high places and how to get into trouble! Mickey also liked Rider, and Rider didn't annoy him like Linus sometimes could.

Sadly, Mickey passed away in April 2010 due to kidney failure, only 6 weeks after I got Rider and 3 months after the death of Mr. Fez. I don't think Linus and I could have got through that without Rider. Losing two cats three months apart was extremely difficult. Rider was there to help Linus and I through that.

Rider has also proven to be a good show cat. He is a Grand Champion Alter in the American Cat Fanciers' Association. I have met several friends on the show circuit I wouldn't have without Rider. Rider is very special to me.

Last weekend's cat show...

Mom took all of us to an ACFA show in Neenah, WI last weekend. I did pretty good. I had no breed competition. I made finals in 2/7 rings. I got 2nd and 8th Bst All Breed.

I also had an ophthalmology re-check appointment today. Happy to report my eye checked out just fine. I will continue to be monnitored to make sure my "eye freckles" don't become a problem.

TCA show

Mom entered us in the Traditional Cat Association (TCA) annual photo show. We just found out I won! I got:

1st Place - Best Tonkinese in Premiership
3rd Best Alter in Show

Mom got an envelope in the mail today with our end of season awards. I got:
North Central Region's 2nd Best Tonkinese Alter
Inter-American 2nd Best Natural Mink Tonkinese Alter

Mom is very proud of me!
