We are very sad today because yesterday 1-30-2010 my kitten Bandit passed away. He was only 12 yrs old. Born sometime in August 1998.
The last few years Bandit had to stay in the ol' coal room in the basement of my parents house by him self because Patch didn't like him. Mom would bring Princess, Patch and Bandit up at separate times to run around the house so no one would cause anyone else any hardships.
Bandit Bo we will miss you terribly. Too bad I never got to take you with me when I moved away from home, but you were so wonderful that the whole family wanted to share you.
I remember when I first got to hold you in my hands. You were so small you fit into the palm of my young hand. You were so helpless only a few days old. We really bonded because we had to care for you so extraordinarily your first few months with us.
Then you went through your brat cat stage where you were a little fighter and a biter but we loved you still. We taught you to take your anger & aggression out on your stuffed pound kitty who was larger than you instead of us. You were friends with that pound kitty all your days and would carry your buddy everywhere with you. If we saw you with out your pound kitty we would just have to say one phrase to have you rushing back to find him, "Go Get your Kitty" or "Where's your kitty?" and off you'd go to rescue him from...the floor, the cat tree, the couch or where ever you had left him moments before.
You weren't a kitty that wanted to stay in the shadows and just live your kitty life unnoticed. You were the loudest and most obnoxious kitty at times. You voiced your opinions loudly. If the pizza man came to the door you had to first investigate and then give your blunt opinion of him, "HHSSSSSSSSSSSSHH!!!" NO PIZZA MAN or Guest was safe from you judgment. You also liked to go through visiting guest’s belongings to make sure they didn't have any valuables (kitty favorable valuables) that you may like to "borrow" until they noticed they were gone.
You didn't need the extravagant things in life. "Take that tuna away"
"No treats for me"
"Cheese, what do I look like a mouse?"
You dined on regular dry cat food, no human food or treats. Not because we didn't share them with you or ask you to eat them. You just knew your place and you weren't one of those kitties who needed to be bribed.
You were an adventurer & explorer. The rafters, back of the closets, the cupboards, the shower rail you had visited them all and mapped their layouts. You took risks like when you were just 3 months old and you jumped off of the staircase...it didn't matter that it was about 10 feet off the ground. You had to try it. Everyone thought that Lisa had thrown you off the stairs because your light little body had made the most horrendous boom when you landed on your feet at the bottom of the stairs. Why did you do it...I don't know. Why do people jump out of planes? I guess for the adventure and thrilling experience of doing something new.
We love you Bandit Bo and will miss you always. You are one of those kitties that will stay with the ones that knew you for the rest of their lives** We love you Dearly and know that you will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
Love your human sister,
**I'm sure even the pizza man still tells his tail...I mean tale of when this 3lb kitty scared him away from a house when he was delivering pizza.
