Being super duper cute!
Within 5 months I lost my two elderly cats, Oreo and Ming. One can never replace a lost love, but thankfully, the human heart has boundless room for new loves, so I decided to get a kitten to help me cope with my grief - it is darn near impossible to be sad around a kitten. I brought Bailey home on October 10. The breeder told me he had turned 8 weeks that very day.
I normally adopt cats from shelters (Ming and Oreo) or breed rescues (Ben and Sam), but having spent the past few years nursing my two boys, I wanted to make sure my new pet was healthy. I also missed some of the super velcro peronality traits of my moggies (much as I love my Bengals), so I opted to go for a purebred kitten since you have a better indicator of personality that way. The breeder I selected also happens to be a veterinarian, and I chose the Ragdoll breed because their loving, sweet, gentle natures sounded like a lovely cross of my Ming and Oreo's personalities, which I missed so much. Bailey is loved for the individual he is, but the traits he shares with my furangels are of comfort to me.

Life has been pretty exciting for me. On Saturday, a strange lady came to see me and my brother. She seemed very nice. Next thing I knew, I was being put in a black carrier lined with blankies, and I was going for a (long) ride! Brave kitty that I am, I didn't cry, I just watched the sky go by, played with the contents of my carrier and napped. Every once in a while the lady (my new Mommy!) would put her hand in the carrier to pet me. The whole time, this nice music played by some lady named Enya. It was very relaxing.
Since then, I have been living a life of luxury. No more cage, I have something Mommy calls the "master bedroom suite" to play in. I have tons of toys, different beds to sleep on, and the first few nights, Mommy slept on the floor with me since I didn't know how to get on and off the bed. I like sleeping with Mommy...she's so TOASTY and WARM.
Yesterday, I learned how to climb on and off the bed using something called "pet stairs". Once I got the hang of it, it was so fun! While my new Daddy was trying to fall asleep, I kept running up the stairs, then I'd pounce on his head and quickly run back down the stairs. I did it over and over and over. Daddy tried to tell me "No" (what is this word?) but he was laughing so I think it means "keep going".
My Mommy lets me out of my room to explore sometimes. When I do, I see my two new big brothers. Their names are Sam (they also call him Monkey Boy) and Ben. They are SOOOOO BIG, but they see me coming and run away.....I am SO FIERCE and they can see this. Ben is starting to like me, I think. He watches me and sniffs places I've been. When I get too close he growls at me (sounds so scary!), but it's all he does. Mommy says he' being a big "faker". I don't know what that is, but Ben keeps coming to see me, and I have touched his tail twice! Mommy says he likes me but doesn't want to admit it.
Well, it's time to eat again and then I'm gonna take a nap. Life has sure been exciting lately!
