Arrival Story:
I saw Boeboe online while searching for a dog to adopt. The moment her picture flashed on the screen, her olive green eyes stared right through me as if saying "please take me home". It moved me instantly. I wasted no time, drove to the Humane Society the next day and processed the adoption. According to records, Boeboe has been given away twice. The previous owner left Boeboe with her younger brother. Unfortunately, her brother was adopted a month earlier. It also showed that she was a little overweight, experienced urine crystals before, has excellent litter pan habits and requires a good number of scratching posts. Nevertheless, she's a healthy purebred Russian Blue cat just waiting to be adopted.

Boeboe is truly a blessing. I was still grieving the loss of a pet boxer named Hudson whom I lost to cancer when I had her. My grief transformed into joy with Boeboe's presence. She would sleep right beside me at night and when I wake up, I see her sleeping soundly and curled up on top of my thighs and sometimes even on my chest . I never experienced having such a sweet and affectionate pet. From what I read, cats don't normally follow orders like dogs do, but Boe's different. Whenever I call her name, she would approach me without hesitation or fear and rub herself againts me. She's rather shy when I first brought her home. She hid inside my walk-in cabinet underneath boxes of shoes and clothes. I thought it would take a while for her to come out of the closet, but that same night, she began to explore the room, marking everything with her cheeks and tail and the best of it all, she decided to sleep beside me. I was esctatic. I expected a 2-3 month adjustment period but not with Boeboe. In a way I knew Boeboe felt instantly secure in my presence and in her new home. Cats are sensitive and I knew she felt how much I wanted her to have a home and how much I wanted to wipe all her fears. It's not easy being given away TWICE. Everyday I would take time out to whisper to her my commitment to give her a good life and utter that promise of never ever giving her away. I would tell her i love her over and over making sure she feels it...and I know she does.

I cannot begin to tell everyone here how ecstatic I was when my mom finally placed my comfy pillowbed right next to her own daybed. Now I can slowly walk over her bed and snuggle close when i feel needy and possessive of my human. Now she can easily reach out and pet me whenever she wants to. I'm glad she finally heard my insistent request for my bed to be transferred right next to her. What a relief. An added bonus to this whole setup is that I have a good view and vantage point of my sister Pozzy's room. Now I can anticipate her playful attacks and watch her do stupid things to herself at night. I can even swipe her tail off when she attempts to disturb my peace and invade my territory. Ha! Got yah Pozzy.

Thanks mom!

Russian Blue Breed Information

Russian Blue cats are quiet and sensitive, sometimes shy and reserved but are also tremendously loyal to their chosen human being. They may be cautious of strangers and take time to develop a friendship with humans but it is often worthwhile as Russian Blues can become devoted pets. Once settled in a loving environment they love to play with toys and enjoy jumping, climbing and racing around and are extremely agile and light footed. They love human attention and can appear to be quite hurt when rejected. Russian Blues are quite content to be house cats as long as they have the company of their human friends.

Russian Blue is an intelligent cat which is renowned for its gentleness. It will often talk to its owner in a quiet voice, although a queen in season can make as much noise as any other cat. The Russian Blue is affectionate but not demanding. Many love to be picked up and cuddled but some are not so keen. Nevertheless, they are still likely to be loving and devoted companions to their owners. This has made the breed particularly popular with elderly people. However, it is also very good with children and as a general rule will tolerate the clumsy handling of a child. The cat will wriggle, rather than claw, its way out of a tight grip. It is rare for a Russian Blue to bite or scratch.
