Our buddy Leo has tagged us in his love bug diary - thanks Leo! Here we go:

1. Meow! Are you a noisy kitty or a quiet kitty?
I'm quiet until mom settles in bed to watch TV at night. Then I play a game with her to try to get her up. I meow and she meows back. It's like singing a song. Although mom can't sing at all!

2. Litterbox! Cover your business or let some other kitty cover?
I not only cover but try to make it go away. I come out with litter dust on my head and on my big clown feet. Mom has to wipe me down some days.

3. Happy! Favorite Daily Routine?
When mommy comes home and opens the apartment door so I can go out in the hallway. I wander and explore and sometimes I just sit and oversee everything, like the king of the 6th floor.

4. Hiss! Least Favorite Routine?
EAR DROPS!! Those things are nasty and I run if mom even says the words!

5. Ding-Dong! What do you think about visitors to your house?
I have to be the first one to greet anyone that comes over. They have to pass my inspection of course!

6. Friends! Do you like other animals?
My nickname is The Ambassador because I love all the fosters that come in. Well, almost all of them. We've had a few that I wasn't crazy about. But I never start any trouble!

Thanks for tagging us Leo! It's fun to learn about other kitties!

It's my special day! (Oh, and I have a sister...)

So I thought mom was going to write a diary entry today about how it was my special Gotcha Day and how I changed her life for the better in so many ways and how amazing I am and… OW! Mom!!! OK, OK! It turns out she wants me to write about my "new" sister! She's not really that new, but I guess it just dawned on mom that she's staying and needs her own page. (Thanks Auntie Jenn, for the kick in the butt she needed!)

Her name is Callie and she's pretty special. When Teddy died mom and I were heartbroken but she eventually realized we had room in our hearts for another special needs kitty. Callie is a CH (Cerebellar Hypoplasia) or "wobbly" kitty, and she's almost blind. It's taken me a while to get used to how she bumbles around and falls over, especially when she falls on ME, but I've gotten used to her now and… alright, I'll admit it, I kind of like her.

I hope you'll come see her page and ask her to be friends. Her Catster ID number is 1193976 and she's pretty cute!

Miss Crabby found a home!

I'm taking a break from purring with joy to tell everyone that I finally got rid of that grumpy foster, Miss Vicky! A friend of a friend of mom's decided he needed a grump at his house and he just picked her up - woo hoo!! OK mom, time for a playmate for me!

Note from mom: I'm sure you can imagine the relief I feel after finding the perfect home for Miss Vicky. A very special guy who lost his own crabby cat last year agreed to give her a try. It's a long term foster with intent but I've seen them together and it's a match made in heaven. It just goes to show, there's a home out there for everycat. Many thanks to all our Catster friends for their purrs and spreading the word!!

Help me get rid of Miss Grumps!

So mom is making me write a new diary entry even though I have SO many better things to do. I mean, there are xmas toys that haven't been broken yet and spots that haven't been napped in. But I'm going to give up a nap to try and get some long term peace around here.

Some of you know that we foster all the time. I'm actually known as The Ambassador 'cause I welcome all the fosters and make them feel at home. But every once in a while we get a foster that doesn't want to be friends with me. We have one now, so I'm going to do what I can do to hurry her along.

Here's her story. Her name is Vicky and mom calls her Miss Vicks. I call her Miss Crabby. Anyway, her original owner died and she was with our rescue group for a long time without getting adopted. She was in a cage at Petco when someone noticed she was drinking lots of water. She went to the vet and mom picked her up to give her a break from Petco. The next day we found out that Miss V had diabetes.

Mom went to the vet to learn how to give Miss Vicks insulin, and after consulting with some very helpful and knowledgeable Catsters (thanks Gump!) she put her on a high protein/low carb diet - none of that yucky prescription food. She had to go to the vet regularly to get her glucose levels checked but her numbers started coming down. Within 3 weeks her levels were well into the normal range. So we were able to stop the insulin and mom thinks her diabetes can be controlled just by diet. (And believe it or not, it's a Friskies diet! It just has to be canned food in the grain free flavors.)

Anyway, mom thinks Miss Vicks is a very nice cat but I think she's closer to Oscar the Grouch. She doesn't want to play with me so I think she'd be best as an only child. But I will admit, if I leave her alone she doesn't bother me and she could probably live with a laid back cat or two. She's about 5 years old and all black. She's a little overweight but we're working on that. She's a real string kitty too - omc, I've never seen a kitty go so wild over a piece of string! She's not a lap cat but she can be affectionate. Boy oh boy is she affectionate at mealtime - then she's mom's best friend.

Anyway, we need to move this kitty to a furever home so I can get a new foster in that wants to play with me. Mom doesn't want to send her back to Petco where all her trouble started although I'd be happy to pack her bags for her. If anyone knows where Miss V might find a home can you pmail my mom? We're in the NYC area. If mom would give me some money I'd ship her someplace but she thinks the rescue group would prefer a local adoption. We also have a post on FaceBook about Miss Crabby, oops, I mean Miss Vicky - just pmail us for the link to share.

Thanks Catsters - I know I can count on you to help a fellow kitty!

Many, many thanks

I've never been much for a diary - I have a lot of things to take care of over here at the kitty U.N. (sometimes also known as the loony bin) so between my responsibilities as the Ambassador and getting in all my meals and naps, there's not a lot of time left. But mom was so touched by all our friends' kind words when my brother Teddy went to the bridge that she asked me to try to thank everyone.

Thanks to the families of Miss Mittens, Mea-Angel, Lucy, Ava Corrine, Sally Maria, Dashiell, Missy, Edgar, Misha, Onxy, and Angel Princess for the wonderful crowns and stars.

And thanks to the families of Tasha, Alex, Casey, Luke, Nikolai, Shadow, Whispers, Sky, Adam, Rebby, Riley, Smokey, Blade, Mia, Nadia and Wesley for the beautiful rainbows and hearts.

More thanks to the families of Simon, Calvin, Tigger, Ashley, Sally, Olivia and Smudge for the lovely wings, candles and We Are One gifts.

Simon, Bella Mae and Sammie sent us lovely personal paw mails that were much appreciated.

We saw and loved touching posts from Simon, Finnegan, Miss Mittens, Tasha, Lucy Ava Corrine, Shadow, Rile-y, Nonny, Gump, Xena-Princess-Warrior, Sky, Misha, Kitty, Lacey, Coopurr, Dyna-Cats, Toffy, Luke, Pookie, Mo and Popeye.

And the amazing diary entries that Miss Mittens, Alex, Lucy, Misha and Coopurr wrote, along with all the sweet comments meant so much to mom in this sad time.

Last, the personal note and wings we got from Shade's mom, the unending support from Alex's mom, the nonstop kindness from Coopurr's mom, the thoughtful words from Misha's mom, and the phenomenal all-around support from Bill's dad have helped mom get through this more than you'll ever know. Many thanks to all.

Teddy was truly one of a kind and will be forever missed. Thanks to everyone for the condolences that helped make his journey easier for mom.
