Yes! Chocolate, specifically the compound theobromine in chocolate, is very toxic to both dogs and cats.

Never feed a cat chocolate.

Just an odd question, but none of my cats has ever craved chocolate. (Obviously, I have never fed them any, either.) Do some cats actually want to eat chocolate? Yes, chocolate is well known for being poisonous to cats, but do some cats actually want to eat this poisonous substance?

Yes, it is bad for cats ...the darker the chocolate, the worse it is. Baker's chocolate is worst of all. As to cat's craving it (a poster asked), I know they wouldn't crave it for the sweet taste, because cats can neither smell, nor taste sweet. However, cats will sample all kinds of things, testing their world for what's good and what's not. If a taste makes them sick, they know that particular thing is toxic. The danger is, with some things, all it takes is a taste!
