We first saw Moscow photographer Kristina Makeeva’s stunning photos of her cat Kotleta a couple of years ago, and we’ve been wanting to get her work in Catster ever since. Her photos are works of art, many having a beautiful fantasy twist. She shoots a wide variety of subjects — like travel and fashion — all over the world, and those shots have earned her more than 600K followers on her Instagram page.
“I have been working in Photoshop since I was 14,” Kristina tells us, “shooting from 16. I just shoot all my life.”
It’s the beautiful photos of her cat that, of course, caught the eyes of the Catster team. “The Kotleta cat is a red cat of the Maine Coon breed,” explains Kristina of the cat who has been with her for more than five years. She says he “quickly won the hearts of the Russian and world audience with his royal charisma. Of his special qualities — this calmness. He tolerates glasses, hats, gently crosses the petals and leaves, sits in a pose and knows commands.”
How did she get Kotleta to pose for those amazing photos? “In fact, there is no special secret — my reaction is more important here,” she says. “Kotleta in two minutes is annoyed by any object worn on him, so if you don’t have time, you need to wait for the next opportunity.”
Through her photography, Kristina hopes to show as many readers as possible the magic in ordinary things. I know I see it in her photos. Do you?
