    Nutrisca Cat Food Reviewed

Who Makes Nutrisca Cat Food, & Where Is It Produced?

A company named Dogswell LLC makes Nutrisca cat and dog food. Their headquarters is in St. Louis, Missouri. They also manufacture and package the food in Missouri. Their plant is certified by the Safe Quality Foods Institute, which is a benchmark for the Global Food Safety Initiative. This initiative attempts to reduce food safety risks and manage costs globally.

Which Types of Cats Is Nutrisca Cat Best Suited For?

Nutrisca Cat Food is well suited to all cats and can be especially well suited for overweight cats since there are no fillers like corn, soy, or wheat. It’s well balanced and provides a complete meal for cats of all ages. It’s also well suited to sensitive cats with allergies. There are no chemical preservatives or artificial dyes in any of the recipes, and they use high-quality ingredients with no antibiotics or hormones.

Which Types of Cats Might Do Better with a Different Brand?

The only cats Nutrisca isn’t suitable for are those with a prescription diet because of a medical condition. Some cats might not like this food, and it can be difficult to get them to switch to something new.

Discussion of the Primary Ingredients (Good & Bad)

    High-Quality Protein

Nutrisca Cat Food has real meat like salmon, chicken, lamb, and tuna, listed as its first ingredient, and it contains no meat by-products. The dry food contains 30% protein, and the meat used is raised without artificial growth hormones or antibiotics.

NUTRISCA Premium Grain Free Dry Cat Food, Chicken Recipe

This protein is essential to your carnivorous cat, is responsible for countless biological functions, and also provides your pet with the energy they need to stay active. These proteins also provide your cat with taurine, an essential element your cat needs to survive. This amino acid plays a part in vision, digestion, heart muscle function, and more.

    No Grains

Grains are not part of your cat’s natural diet, and many of them will provide very little nutrition for your pet. Some grains like corn and soy are genetically modified and could be bad for your pet. Others might contain harmful chemical pesticides. Nutrisca uses high-quality vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, peas, cranberries, and carrots, to provide your cat with the vitamins and minerals they need to stay healthy. These nutrients will help boost the immune system so your pet can fight off disease and heal quicker. They also keep the eyesight sharp and prevent any disease from settling in later in life.

    Omega Fats

Omega fats are a popular human supplement, but they can also benefit your cat and even your dog.  Omega fats can help your cat maintain a healthy coat and reduce allergy symptoms. It can also reduce itching caused by flea bites, and it helps with brain and eye development. It improves heart health, boosts the immune system, and helps reduce inflammation, especially inflammation associated with arthritis. Fish oil is the main way to fortify the food with omega fats, but it can also come from vegetables and other plants, like flaxseed.

    Poor Packaging

If there is one thing we could complain about, it’s that the packaging of the dry food is flimsy and many of the bags we order often arrive damaged. It also tends to rip more often than other brands as we are using it, forcing us to use tape to keep it from spilling.

Feeding your cat a high-quality diet is important for keeping them healthy and happy. But it goes beyond the food you choose; the dishes they use also matter. The Hepper NomNom Cat Bowl is our favorite for its unique, five-star design that protects from whisker fatigue and promotes good posture which also aids in better digestion. As an added bonus, it’s beautifully crafted and offers a modern take on the traditional cat bowl that fits seamlessly with all home stylings. Learn more about the NomNom by clicking here.

At Catster, we’ve admired Hepper for many years and decided to take a controlling ownership interest so that we could benefit from the outstanding designs of this cool cat company!

Reviews of the 3 Best Nutrisca Cat Food Recipes

    1. NUTRISCA Dogswell Premium Grain-Free Dry Cat Food, Salmon Recipe

NUTRISCA Dogswell Premium Grain-Free Dry Cat Food, Salmon Recipe

NUTRISCA Dogswell Premium Grain-Free Dry Cat Food, Salmon Recipe has real salmon listed as its first ingredients. The formula contains no grains, which means no corn, soy, or wheat ingredients that might cause weight gain. It provides your cat with balanced nutrition that includes peas, apricots, carrots, tomatoes, and more. It uses rosemary extract as a preservative, so there are no harmful chemical preservatives, and there are also no artificial dyes to cause an allergic reaction.

While we were using this food, most of our cats liked it, but a few refused to eat it no matter how slowly we introduced it. Some would even pick through it for the other brand and leave this food in the bowl. The packaging is also extremely flimsy and often spills food on the floor.

    Pros
    • Salmon first ingredient
    • Grain-free
    • Balanced nutrition
    • No chemical preservatives or colors
    • No corn, wheat, or soy
    Cons
    • Some cats don’t like it
    • Flimsy packaging

    2. NUTRISCA Truly Flaked Canned Wet Cat Food, Grain-Free, Tuna & Crab in Broth

NUTRISCA Truly Flaked Canned Wet Cat Food, Grain-Free, Tuna & Crab in Broth

NUTRISCA Truly Flaked Canned Wet Cat Food, Grain-Free, Tuna & Crab in Broth is the wet version of Nutrisca brand of cat food. It features tuna and crab as its top ingredients, so it provides your pet with a high-protein diet packed with omega fats that will help keep your pet healthy with a soft and shiny coat. The formula only contains a few ingredients but still provides a complete meal without any grains or chemical preservatives.

While our cats enjoyed this food quite a bit, we prefer to feed dry food to help keep the cat’s teeth clean. We also thought that there was a lot of liquid compared to other brands.

    Calorie Breakdown:

    Pros
    • Tuna and crab as first ingredients
    • Grain-free
    • High protein
    • Balanced nutrition
    • Few ingredients
    Cons
    • Very liquidy

    3. NUTRISCA Premium Grain-Free Dry Cat Food, Chicken Recipe

NUTRISCA Premium Grain-Free Dry Cat Food, Chicken Recipe

NUTRISCA Premium Grain-Free Dry Cat Food, Chicken Recipe is similar to the first review, but this brand features chicken as its first ingredient, so you know your cat is getting a high-quality protein. There are no fillers like corn, wheat, or soy ingredients that can put weight on your cat. This formula is also suitable for kittens, so you can get them started on it as soon as they are ready for solid foods to prevent them from becoming too demanding.

The primary downside to feeding your pet the chicken recipe is that some cats don’t like it and would refuse to eat it. Some cats ate it for a few weeks, then stopped. We also thought it was a little expensive compared to a few of the other healthy brands. The expense is magnified if you only have one cat that refuses to eat it.

    Calorie Breakdown:

    Pros
    • Chicken first ingredient
    • Grain-free
    • High protein
    • No fillers
    • Suitable for kittens

    • Some cats don’t like it
    • Expensive

    Conclusion

If you are concerned about your pet’s weight, a brand like Nutrisca can be extremely helpful to make sure your pet gets the nutrients it needs without getting any filler ingredients that cause weight gain and can leave your pet hungry for more food. NUTRISCA Dogswell Premium Grain-Free Dry Cat Food, Salmon Recipe is our favorite because it has salmon listed as its first ingredient and our cats love it. Salmon also provides plenty of omega fats that are helpful to your cat in countless ways, and the real fruit and vegetable ingredients provide your cat with plenty of antioxidants and other nutrients.

The wet cat food is another smart choice, and even the pickiest cats will usually eat it. It has just as many nutrients as dry food and will also provide plenty of fluid. Extra water can help regulate a constipated cat or hydrate one that hasn’t been drinking enough and is beginning to get dandruff. The chicken recipe is suitable for puppies and is what we recommend if you’ve acquired a new kitten. It will help you provide the correct nutrition while getting your cat used to healthy food.

We hope you have enjoyed this review and found it helpful in answering your questions. If we have convinced you to give it a try, please share this review of Nutrisca Cat Food on Facebook and Twitter.
