Bissell is known for their vacuums, especially by pet parents trying to stay on top of pet hair. While they have several wonderful vacuums, cat parents looking for a cordless vacuum that’s easier to cart around but powerful enough to still remove cat hair may want to take a look at the Bissell Air Ram Cordless Vacuum Cleaner. This vacuum may be small and lightweight, but the suction power on it is phenomenal, and it’s fantastic at sucking up pet hair. Because it’s so lightweight and easy to move, it’s also a breeze to use this vacuum to get underneath furniture to ensure everything is clean. However, this vacuum does not turn into a handheld or have attachments, so you’re relegated to cleaning floors only.

Battery Life

It seems the majority of people who used this vacuum were incredibly impressed with how long the battery lasted after it was charged. Though the battery sometimes died closer to 35 minutes than the advertised 40 minutes, the time it lasted was more than enough to vacuum the whole house for those with smaller homes. And for many, charging the battery also didn’t take the entire four hours advertised, making this vacuum easier to use.

Some commented that it took longer for this vacuum’s battery to die out over time; often, vacuum batteries can lose their charging capacity after continued use. However, the battery for the Bissell Air Ram seemed to last longer than most.

Suction

People were highly impressed with the suction on this vacuum! In fact, it might even be a touch too powerful, as some warned against using it on older or damaged carpets, as the carpets could be torn. It seems the beater bar in this vacuum has bristles that are long and rather stiff, so it can easily do mild damage to delicate carpets with raised designs or cotton loops.

That super powerful suction means, though, that this vacuum picks up pretty much anything it comes up against. Pet parents, in particular, were thrilled with how well it sucked up pet hair and how much it got out of carpets. This suction applies to carpets and bare floors (which isn’t always the case), so you don’t have to worry that it will pick up pet hair and dirt on one type of floor but not another.

Maneuverability

Another aspect people loved was the maneuverability of the Air Ram. Because it’s lightweight, it’s a breeze to both push around or carry up to a second floor. Plus, with its swivel action and handle that lays flat, getting beneath furniture, like your sofa, is a breeze, which means you don’t have to move things around to vacuum properly. People also mentioned that this vacuum gets close to the edges, so you can pick up even more without breaking out a handheld vacuum.

No Handheld or Attachments

One area where the Air Ram is lacking is the fact it doesn’t transform into a handheld or have attachments so you can vacuum the sofa or comforters on the bed. Most vacuums will have some sort of handheld feature or hose attachments, making them multi-functional, but with the Air Ram, you’re limited to cleaning the floors only. If you want to clear your sofa or bed of pet hair, you’ll have to purchase a handheld vacuum or invest in a heavy-duty lint roller!

Recall History

We could find no recalls for the Bissell Air Ram Cordless Vacuum Cleaner.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is the battery charged in or out of the vacuum?

You can charge the battery either way! Leave it in the vacuum and simply hook the vacuum up to the outlet, or remove the battery and attach it to the outlet.

What do I do if my battery dies for good?

If something happens to the battery for your Bissell Air Ram, you can purchase another battery from Bissell to replace it.

Is the brush roll removable?

Yes. If you need to clean pet fur or hair from the brush roll, you can remove it from the vacuum for easier cleaning.

Is the Bissell Air Ram heavy enough to stand up on its own?

It is! This vacuum may be lightweight, but it is still able to stand up on its own, so you don’t need to prop it in a corner when you’re finished using it.

What the Users Say

Of course, one of the fastest and best ways to find out what others have to say about a product is to comb through reviews. That takes a lot of time, though, so we’ve gone ahead and done the work for you! We looked through several reviews on the Bissell Air Ram Cordless Vacuum Cleaner and discovered what people were saying.

When it comes to the good, the amazing suction of this vacuum and battery life were winners (as we mentioned previously). People were constantly amazed at how much dirt and debris this vacuum managed to suck up, and pet parents were impressed with how it handled pet hair. People liked more than that, though.

Another aspect they loved was the light on the front of the vacuum that illuminated how much dirt and debris was on the carpet and how much was getting picked up (a couple of people were shocked that what they thought had been clean carpets were much dirtier than expected!). There were also several comments about how easy it was to remove the bin on this vacuum and how easy it was to clean the filters.

There were some downsides to this vacuum, too. Some people commented that the filter needs to be cleaned out often (especially if you’re a pet parent who vacuums every day; in that case, you’ll be cleaning the filter every couple of days). The constant filter cleaning was definitely a pain. The lack of attachments or hoses that could transform this vacuum into a handheld to vacuum things other than floors was another negative aspect of the Air Ram. Finally, there were some complaints about the handle of this vacuum, as it is made from plastic that can break if you aren’t careful with how you move the vacuum around.

Conclusion

Overall, the Bissell Air Ram Cordless Vacuum Cleaner seems like a good vacuum, particularly if you live in a smaller space, such as a condor or apartment. Many pet parents loved how much pet hair it picked up, and most people were impressed with the suction of this vacuum. That doesn’t mean the Air Ram isn’t without its downsides, though. The biggest negative to this vacuum may be that it can only vacuum floors, but not sofas, beds, cat trees, or anything else. Not being able to clean up cat hair from everywhere may be a dealbreaker for some.
