Mommy feels bad for this being so late today, but today is Daisy's birthday!! She turned 11 years old today! She has been so excited today - it's like she knew what was coming: she got a spoonful of Peanut Butter and some treats! MOL Her and Toby have always gone crazy for PB so she has been one happy girlie today!!

**
Mommy and everyone was worried about Daisy when Toby passed. They were very close - when Toby would leave for the vet, Daisy would go NUTS waiting for him to come back. But she has been doing great!! She has stayed very happy and we are so relieved! I'm sure it doesn't hurt that she's been getting some extra lovin's to help make sure she doesn't go into a depression ;-) She's loving the extra attention :-) Also, when Mommy feels sad about Toby, she goes and loves on Daisy and I think it's been very therapeutic for them both.

Thank you to everyone for their support during Toby's journey to the Bridge. We're sorry we haven't been on sooner, as promised, but Mommy hasn't been on the computer much. We appreciate each and every one of you for your support during this time. Thank you for the pawmails, rosies, and stars that you all have sent to us. Each message made Mommy cry because they were so sweet and heartfelt.

Mommy and Grandma took Toby to the vet the morning after his passing so that he could be cremated. He was supposed to be ready to pick up today but we have not received our call yet, so I guess we will be able to bring him home tomorrow. The place the vet's office works with for cremations is north of us, in Maryland, and southbound traffic was horrible today - we're guessing that caused the delay. Mommy will be happier when Toby is back home us.

I also wanted to thank everyone who helped me celebrate my birthday! Whew! What a week we had last week! Toby's birthday, Toby's journey, then my birthday! Granddad said, "What a roller coaster...Can we end the week on a high note with Harry's birthday, please?" Thankfully that's exactly what happened. Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who celebrated with me and sent me messages and gifts!

Here is what Mommy wrote about Toby on her fb yesterday:

"Toby's in a vicious cycle right now: tu ...

Here is what Mommy wrote about Toby on her fb yesterday:

"Toby's in a vicious cycle right now: tummy problems throwing off his meds, which causes him to feel yucky and not want to eat because his heart is doing too much, then when he does eat again, the tummy problems start again, which throws off the meds again...and so on...If we could just get his meds back on track, he'd feel better. My vet started him on some probiotics today to help his tummy so maybe we can get him on track with the meds again...*Fingers crossed*"

He licked at the yogurt covered food last night, but that was it. Today he wouldn't eat again. Since it is his birthday, Mommy and Grandma gave him some Peanut Butter (his favorite) and as soon as he saw the jar his eyes perked up and he came trotting over to Mommy. He didn't eat everything she offered him, though. That was all he ate today. They even tried offering him more PB tonight and he turned it down - he NEVER turns down PB...

He still has tummy issues (diarrhea - how, we don't know since he isn't eating) and even threw up a little yellow bile earlier. Usually when he vomits, it is white creamy YUCK from his heart/lungs filling up. So, the bile was about of a shock, but not totally since he has no food in him. He is having a really hard time walking and can't take the stairs on the deck, so when he goes out we have to carry him up to get back inside. He has gone down them on his own, but we've had to carry him down them today, too.

Toby has had Mitral Valve Disease since he was 5 and has been in Congestive Heart Failure since he was 10. He turned 13 today.

We are trying to decide what to do...contact the Cardiologist. Or go ahead and ask our home vet to come see him. We've done everything in our power to help him...we don't want him to suffer. And he is right now. We don't know if there is anything the Cardio can do at this point...he just won't eat and not eating means not getting meds, either.

We love Toby so much...

She really did!! A stranger came to the door early this morning and came inside to talk to Mommy. As usual, I ran and hid, but Albie went right up to the stranger to investigate. She loved him and thought he was very handsome. Albie was so busy loving the attention that he wasn't paying attention to what the lady and Mommy were talking about. They were talking about Albie's health...uh oh...this didn't sound right. This sounded like a conversation Mommy would have with the V-E-T. But...she takes us to a scary office for that...so who was this lady?? Soon the lady went back out to her car and came back in with a scale and a big medical bag. Albie continued to be his curious self and I was trying to send him silent "Run for your life!" signals!! This was a trick!! This lady was a V-E-T!! How could Mommy do this?!? Soon the lady had Mommy holding Albie while she examined him. Albie didn't seem to mind until she started pressing on his belly/bladder area. Then, she pressed on his back and he SCREAMED! The V-E-T said that was right over a kidney. At this point, I went out into the kitchen where they were to check on my little bro! I was so worried about him! Mommy was shocked because I've never gotten so close to a stranger so soon before. My brother needed me, Mom! Apparently, she had asked Mommy to keep Albie in a bathroom last night with a new empty litter pan to try a urine sample. But, Albie held it all night and only went once he was out of the bathroom and in one of our usual litter boxes. (Us kitties had wondered why he was locked up...Albie had been so upset over it!) So, Mommy had no sample. The V-E-T doesn't like to use what she refers to as "quack" meds, she prefers homeopathic remedies, but she said that antibiotics do help to "cool down" inflamed bladders. So, she gave Albie a shot of an antibiotic in case he does have something going on. His reaction to her pressing on him is what has her nervous. Mommy is going to try to get a sample tonight (wish her luck!) and then take it to the V-E-T's house tomorrow. Albie also has the pill version of the antibiotic to take starting tomorrow, 1/2 pill twice a day and just for a week.

Mommy had called the V-E-T because Albie's cystitis has never really gotten better. The carpet on the main level of the house has been replaced and before replacing the carpet in the room where he has accidents Grandma put that Killz stuff down to get rid of the smell hoping that would help. But, Albie is still having accidents. We know he stresses when our doggie cousin comes to visit and it used to just be around those visits that this would happen. But, now, it seems like it is all the time. Albie acts fine, though, plays, eats, drinks, sleeps normal! The only symptom is the urinating outside of the box... The V-E-T said it could be psychological at this point. In which case Mommy may just have to retrain him to the box. He has a tendency to growl when the V-E-T presses around his back side, so his growling could have been that. The urine sample will tell for sure.

Oh! The reason we have this new V-E-T who comes to the house?? ME!! I hate care rides so Mommy found this V-E-T for ME! I need to find a really good hiding spot before I'm due for my check up....

Please purr for Albie to be okay! As tough as it would be to retrain him to the box...that would be better than him being sick!!

Toby is home!! Mommy and Granddad picked him up early yesterday afternoon. The vet had a little bit of a hard time taking him off the oxygen, he kept stressing out, but they did get him off of it and finally called to say he was ready to be picked up. He is now on another diuretic which he takes half a pill every other day (weird dosage, right?) and he is also on Viagra, for hypertension, which he takes 25 mg three times a day. The vet said "he is doing well considering his condition." Mommy is choosing to look at that comment in a positive light. Because he is doing well. No, he cannot get better, but he can stay stable for as long as possible. He is a fighter. He is kicking MVD butt!! MOL! Go Toby!!

Thank you to everyone for the purrs and prayers! We really appreciate each and everyone of you :-)

Our doggie uncle, Toby, had to go see his cardiologist today because his tummy was bloated with fluids again. He has also not been eating well for the last few weeks, but especially for the last few days. He has just not been himself the past couple days. So, Mommy and Granddad took Toby to his cardiologist and after they took his BP they gave him some oxygen. Then, they did a tap to drain the fluid from his belly before taking some x-rays. He was better after having the fluid drained but was still in hypertension. So, the cardio suggested leaving him with them overnight to help him stabilize. She is worried about his lungs being under so much pressure and she is worried because his heart is just so HUGE anymore. So, she is giving him time to stabilize before he comes home. Toby is in ICU at the office and is actually in an oxygen tent for the first 12 hours he is there. They will be giving him lasix through an IV and will try to give him his oral meds that he usually gets. The cardio is thinking about starting a new medicine to help with the hypertension. It's called Viagra (yes, the little blue pill! MOL) and since it was originally used for hypertension, this is what the cardio would put Toby on. We will see if she does that. We are hoping that they can get Toby to take his meds like he is supposed to. He takes his meds when he eats and since he has not been eating normal lately, he has not really been getting his meds like he should. Hopefully, after being drained and getting some oxygen, he will feel better and his appetite will come back.

We know we have asked several times before, but we would like to ask for purrs and prayers for our Toby again. We know how powerful the Power of the Paw is and our Toby means so much to us so please keep our Toby in your thoughts... We love you, Toby!!

Skittles is one of the kitties that Mommy and Granddad care for at the local SPCA. She was one of the kitties being housed there for a local rescue who needed extra help due to special circumstances (I'm sure Skittles will fill you all in at some point). The lady who runs the rescue is slowly getting the kitties back out of the SPCA and is in need of fosters, and knowing how much Granddad and Mommy love Skittles, she asked if they would mind fostering her. So after a lot of talking with Grandma, they finally convinced her of it and Skittles moved in this past Sunday! She is staying in a room separate from the rest of us for now. Albie can't wait to meet her, he is such a flirt!! I'm very curious about her...but only because I want to know who the stranger is in that room!

Mommy has created a page for her here on Catster and has listed her as adoptable. However, if everything works out and we all get along (meaning all three cats and two dogs), then Skittles will probably stay here!! Mommy and Granddad said she is such a love bug that it would be hard to let her get adopted after having her live here! They have known Skittles since they started to help the rescue back in November. Mommy feels bad that she is alone in a room right now and goes up to visit her often, she can't wait to be able to start introducing her to us so she can finally join us all in the rest of the house!

Mommy has to go vote for the county's Commonwealth Attorney now, but we will update you all more about Skittles later! :-)

Mommy was napping and woke up to being shaken all around the bed! Granddad works at night so he was sleeping, too, and was woken the same way! Grandma was painting in the family room and couldn't figure out what was going on! Mommy had just gotten a new bed today that has a massager...she had fallen asleep to it, so she woke up thinking her bad was malfunctioning. That is, until Granddad came running in saying "What is going on?!?!?" So, Mommy jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs with him...noticing that her floor was covered in stuff from her shelves. Granny was at her volunteer job at the library and we couldn't get a hold of her...but luckily she was allowed to come home as soon as things calmed down. We were so happy to see her home safe!!

Albie and I are still extremely scared right now...we've never been through anything like that! Granddad saw kitties scattering every which way when he got out of bed...Albie ended up under our Grandparents bed...I ended up down in the basement! Mommy just started fostering a kitty on Sunday and that kitty is still hiding under the bed in her room right now...A shelf on the desk in that room fell to the floor scattering everything that had been on it...no wonder the poor thing is so scared!! Plus, she had just been to the vet yesterday and was still recovering from that trauma!(Mommy was going to post a diary for us today about the foster kitty...so she will get to that later...she will also create a page for her so you all can meet her!!)

We hope everyone who has been effected by the earthquake is safe!! Please let us know that you are!!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to everyone who purred for our Toby! And thank you to "da tabbies" for asking St. Francis to watch over Toby! All of your support has been truly appreciated and it helped!!!

Mommy and our grandparents woke up Thursday morning to find Toby acting like his ol' self! They took him to his cardiologist at 9am and she examined him and did a mini ultrasound to check his abdomen. She said the vet had gotten most of the fluid out and that his liver was the reason for his still swollen belly. She told them to continue with the 3 halves of Pimobendan a day and to also raise his Hydralizine to 1 twice a day instead of 3/4 twice a day. She also said to definitely get him on fish oils now to help build up his muscle mass since he has lost so much. She really seemed a little confused about why Toby was there because he seemed to be doing so well. Grandma had to tell her how bad off he had been the day before to get her to understand their concern. Apparently, this is just one of those spells that Toby will have from time to time now that he is in the final stage of CHF.

This is the second time that Toby has gone downhill quickly after a major vet appointment. The first time was after his ER appointment and now he has done it after they had to drain his belly. So, we have learned that Toby has to be given time to recover after appointments like that. He goes into a depression and takes a good 24 hours to recover! Poor Tobers...

We are grateful that he is doing so much better now and we want to thank you all again for all the purrs!!! We cannot thank you all enough or tell you how much your support means to us! We love you all!!

The pain medicine has worn off, so Toby is feeling better - no longer loopy or acting scared. We see what the vet was saying about his belly - it is still big...you can tell where his liver is pressing on his belly. He has a hard time laying down for long periods of time. It is uncomfortable for him because of his belly. Also, he's soaking wet on his belly and back legs so we guess maybe it is pressing on his bladder or something? It is not urine coming out, though, so we are not sure what is coming out...the lasix, fluid?

Toby is going to the Cardiologist tomorrow to see if there is anything she can do to help. If nothing else, we hope to try to make Toby more comfortable. We love Toby too much to let him suffer, though, so who knows what may be happening in the coming days/weeks...Toby is a fighter so we have not given up hope!

Thank you to our wonderful friends for the sweet comments...Please keep the purrs and prayers coming!

Our doggie Uncle, Toby, went to the vet today because of a swollen belly. Well, his MVD (mitral valve disease) and CHF had caused fluid to back up into his belly. So, the vet had to remove the fluid. He's been coughing and wheezing a lot lately and wheezed a lot while at the vet. When she listened to his heart she heard an arrhythmia again, which had been gone at his last Cardio appointment (about 6-8 weeks ago). When she drained the fluid from his belly, she noticed that he still looked swollen. So, she did an x-ray and saw that the blood backing up from his HUGE heart is going into his liver making his liver very big now! Plus, he is still wheezing pretty bad after the draining, so it really did not help as much as she had hoped. She gave him a pain medicine to help him calm down (he was very stressed at the vet!) but he is STILL stressed out even now, a couple hours later, just loopy from the meds on top of it. The vet also gave him 2 shots of Lasix to help with the fluid. The vet also called the Cardio and was told to have us raise Toby's lasix, again, to 3 a day and raise his Pimobendan to 3 halves a day.

The vet is very worried about Toby right now. He did not bounce back after having the fluid drained like he should have. And suggested having us take him somewhere for overnight care just in case. We won't do that, though, because when Toby stayed at the ER vet overnight back in November, he had a hard time recovering from the depression it sent him into. He would rather be home with his family! The vet got choked up and was tearing up with Mommy and Grandma while they were talking. So, since Grandma said they would take Toby home and talk to Granddad, the vet said to be sure to call her tonight if they needed her for ANYTHING.

Granddad is going to call the Cardio tomorrow and see what they say...

Please keep Toby in your prayers...We love him so much!

WOW! Thank you for such a special honor! And a super duper humongous thank you to all my wonderful friends for celebrating with me! You all are the BEST! :-)

Albie is feeling much better! He continued to throw up until about 11pm Friday night, even after Mommy managed to give him a Pepcid. Saturday morning Albie's appetite was back and he was eating well without getting sick. Mommy called the vet anyway, though, since she did NOT want to give Albie anymore Clavamox and the vet asked Mommy to bring Albie back in.

Albie was given Sub-Q Fluids, a shot of antibiotics that will last 2 weeks, and another 1/4 Pepcid. They told Mommy to give Albie Pepcid Saturday night and Sunday morning even though Albie was eating okay, just to make sure his tummy really was back to normal. While there, the vet tech who was helping Mommy made sure to put an alert on Albie's file that said NO CLAVAMOX!!!! Or something along those lines...MOL! It just makes sure that Albie will not be given that nasty medicine anymore! Yay!

Albie's Cystitis medicine - Dasuquin - is supposed to be sprinkled over food, but Albie won't take that way. So, Mommy is putting it is a syringe with warm water, shaking it up, and squirting it in his mouth! Albie's been pretty good about that so far...paws crossed he keeps it up! :-)

The vet had told Mommy that Cystitis is caused by stress, but we couldn't think of carefree Albie having any stress in his life. Then we remembered Zildjian. He is our doggie cousin - Mommy's brother's Pomeranian. He likes to chase Albie and Albie is pretty annoyed that whole time Zildjian is here during each visit. So, we think this would explain why Albie has been having this issue off and on - only when Zildj has been here. Mommy took awhile getting Albie to the vet because she didn't know if it was a litter box issue, behavioral issue, or what! So, after knocking out the first 2 options, she decided to take Albie to the vet. Luckily, she still caught it early - like we said before, no crystals and normal pH - we think because it has been a random issue and not a constant in Albie's life. Only when Zildj has been here. So, once Albie has completed the 4 weeks of Dasuquin (2 times a day), he'll just be given it once a day to help prevent a recurrence.

Thank you again for all the sweet comments, pmails, and gifts wishing Albie well. They really mean a lot to us. :-)

That Clavamox made Albie sick! He has been throwing up since about 1 this afternoon! Mommy called the vet after he had thrown up 4 times by 2:30 and they told her to give him 1/4 of a Pepcid 30 minutes before she gives him the Clavamox. He continued to throw up and feel icky so one of the times he came out of hiding, Mommy went ahead and gave him the 1/4 Pepcid (at about 5:55). He slept out in the open for a little and then went back into hiding under our grandparents bed. Mommy coaxed him out a little bit ago and he ended up throwing up 2 more times! It's only a tiny bit of phlegm at this point. He has no food or water in his tummy and looks like he is "drugged" according to Mommy. She is going to call the vet first thing tomorrow morning and tell them she will NOT be giving him anymore Clavamox. "So what now??"

Mommy feels terrible that he feel so yucky right now because he was fine before the vet visit. Never acted like he was in pain or sick or anything. And now he feels so icky because of those nasty antibiotics!

Thank you to everyone for the sweet comments! We have such wonderful friends! :-) We love you all very much!!

This if from Albie's Diary:

"Mommy took me to the vet today. She was worried because for the past few months I've been having pee accidents right outside the litter box. But it's not all the time, just randomly. It's been pretty consistent for the last couple weeks, though. The vet took some urine from me and tested. She said there were a lot of red cells and some white cells. No bacteria, no crystals, and normal ph level. She said this means I have Cystitis, which is part of FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disease). She put me on Dasuquin 2 times a day for 4 weeks and then once a day to prevent a recurrence. It is a joint medicine but it will help build up the mucous membrane around my bladder to protect my bladder.

The vet also put me on 7 days of Clavamox (2 times a day) in case I have a low grade infection. I drink a lot of water and she said this could be because my body knows my bladder needs to be flushed and since it's being flushed, she won't see any bacteria if there is any due to infection. Mommy will call her in 7-10 days to let her know how I am doing. If I end the Clavamox and start having issues again then I will be put on more Clavamox, since that means that I did have an infection.

Mommy also has to switch me litter to Cat Attract and spray around my litter box with some stress relief spray or use a feliway plug-in in the room where my box is.

Mommy has more info on the what and why of the Cystitis but she will help me post it in another entry later. I'm napping as she writes this and Mommy is in need of a nap, too! She didn't sleep last night because of worrying about my appointment today. We just wanted to be sure to give our friends a quick overview of what happened with me today!"

Thank you to everyone who purred and prayed for Toby! After my last entry, you all know that Toby really scared us the other day. However, Toby is a fighter and his cardio has done a couple things to help him become comfortable again. That was something she said that Mommy loved hearing: "We keep them comfortable for as long as possible." It was the "as long as possible" part that really got to Mommy. It means the cardio will do everything that is within her power to help Toby!

The cardio did an ultrasound on his chest/abdomen and said that everything looks to be about the same as when she checked him this past June. The only difference is his increased heart rate. She called it "atrial fibrillation." This is why he almost fainted and ended up so weak Sunday night - the atrial fibrillation kicked in suddenly and his body was not used to it. So, as he got used to it he started to seem a little better. Before we left for the cardio, he had been able to rest a little in the comfort of his own home so he had already begun to bounce back by the time they left to take him to the cardio appt. He was able to drink some, go potty, and even was walking with more "pep in his step" as Granddad put it. Toby got really stressed about being back in a doc's office while at the cardio and hid his head in Mommy's arm! The way he was just laying there, the doc had them put him on the ground so she could watch him walk...as soon as he got done his tail started wagging and he started trotting to the door. That made the cardio feel better - he had scared her with how he was just laying there! "Just stressed out", they told her... So, Toby is now on 2 more meds that are supposed to slow his heart rate a little. He starts one slowly over two weeks and the other one he starts on Thursday night. He also had a bp that was a little too low so the med. he is on for that was decreased a little.

Toby was glad to finally come home yesterday and be able to rest after the cardio. His energy is still low, but it should get better as his body adjusts to his new heart rate and as the meds fix his heart rate. He has been put on "limited activity" for the next two weeks until everything gets adjusted. He seems better in the morning after a good night's rest and by the evening he seems a little exhausted. But again, this will get better as everything gets adjusted...

We would appreciate it if everyone would continue to purr and say prayers for our sweet Toby!! Thank you all so much! :-)

Toby just had to be rushed to the ER vet tonight. He had what we think is one of the fainting spells his cardio told us to watch for. He looked much better and was acting like himself by the time Mommy and my Grandparents got him to the ER vet, but the vet still was worried and said some things that Mommy was not wanting to hear. The vet is keeping him over night so that he can keep an eye on Toby and then my Grandparents and Mommy will pick him up early tomorrow morning. The ER vet has spoken to Toby's cardio so they know to try to squeeze us in tomorrow. So, after they pick Toby up they will be calling the cardio to see what time to take Toby up to the cardio to get an ultrasound and check up.

Please purr as hard as you can for Toby tonight!! And please send up some prayers for him!!

We love our Toby so much...

***UPDATE***

They picked Toby up and just got home about 30 minutes ago. The poor guy has no energy. He wants a drink of water but his back legs can't hold him up long enough to get the drink. Last night, Granddad got a call from the ER vet saying the bloodwork showed that Toby is anemic, so we will see what the cardio says about that...The ER vet is afraid Toby might have a tumor in his abdomen now, too...But, the anemia may just be from the heart disease...The cardio will do a ultrasound of his chest and one of his abdomen to see what all is going on...We will keep you all posted as we get more info...As of right now, it's not looking good...Please purr as hard as you can and pray for our Toby... Thank you to those who have commented and sent Toby a gift!

Mommy would like some help figuring out why the litter box smells HORRIBLE lately. I use the one upstairs and you can barely smell anything. Albie uses the one downstairs and for the past month it has smelled like 10 kitties are using it instead of just the one!!! I use it every now and then, but it is mostly just Albie. We have a third litter box that neither of us ever uses, but Mommy leaves set up just in case. When she scooped yesterday she did find a couple pee spots and a couple poopies for the first time in that one in a while. We are on a grain-free and chicken-free diet and we have been eating canned food a lot more often lately - Our appetites seem to have increased a little when it comes to the canned food and we always drink a lot of water, so Mommy is not too concerned about the smell being from a decrease in our intake of water. (again, I do want to point out that ALBIE is the one stinking the place up, though! MOL)

Oh, and a couple weeks ago, Mommy found two big pee spots outside the box...At the time, we had the litter box facing the corner since the doggies like to "eat" out of our litter boxes, but after the pee spots showed up (and after numerous times of Albie standing in the litter box and pooping OUT of it) we turned it back around thinking that maybe we had confused him. He has only pooped outside of the box once since then and we don't think he has peed outside of it again. (We have an extra large box but he can't always seem to keep his whole body inside when he is pooping!)

Does anyone have any suggestions about what we should do about the smell? Mommy really does not understand why it has gotten so bad all of a sudden. Albie just has to use the litter box once and it smells like it hasn't been scooped in days! We are using World's Best Cat Litter which really is the best that we've used, but even it can't mask this smell... Also, Mommy can't decide if it is the urine causing the issue or the poopies... One time it seems like it is the urine, but the next time it will seem less ammonia-like or more poopie smelling...

Any ideas? Suggestions? Advice? Anything? Thank you, everyone!!

Toki tagged me last week! (Sorry about being slow to play...Mom's on summer break and enjoying it way too much! MOL)

1.Do you ever wake your parent up in the night?

I jump up on the bed and walk along Mommy's pillows, paw at her pillows, paw at her hair, and touch her cheek with my paw or nose. (Albie likes to knock things off the dresser, night stand, vanity, etc. with his paw just like you, Toki!)

2. Do you ever tear up things?

Paper! I love to play with paper!!

3.What is your favorite treat?

I'm only allowed to have boring treats anymore because of Albie's food allergies...MOL Every now and then Mommy will give me a little scrambled egg, which I love! Recently Mommy has found that I go a little nutty over vanilla ice cream!! (Granddad let me smell a popsicle stick that had had vanilla ice cream on it...I wouldn't stop sniffing it and trying to lick it! Then when he wasn't paying attention...I STOLE IT! MOL!!)

4.Can you fetch something when asked to do so?

I can and I used to...but I won't do it anymore. I used to fetch my little plastic toys and my scrunchies (Mommy's hair ties).

5.Have you ever lived any place other than where you live now?

Nope, I've lived here since Mommy brought me home at 10 weeks old...although, Mommy keeps saying something about me, her, and Albie getting our own place soon...I'm not sure I like that idea - I'd miss my Granddad and Grandma too much!

Okay, so now you copy the questions into your own diary and make your own answers. Then choose FIVE cats to tag! Have fun!

I am 4 years old today!!!!! Mommy can't believe it - she says it feels like just yesterday that she first laid eyes on me at our local Petsmart...and fell in love :-) MOL Mommy can be so silly sometimes!

We haven't really done much today - I've been napping down in the basement most of the day. The basement is my new favorite napping spot since it is cool, dark, and quiet! So, if the door is open, everyone knows that I am down there or heading down there! MOL I actually got shut down there at one point - Granddad was doing laundry and didn't realize I had snuck down there with him. I was rescued when Mommy was in the kitchen and saw my paw sticking out from under the door! MOL!

Poor Mommy has been sick all weekend - she feels bad because she was sick for Albie's birthday and now mine, too! We told her not to worry - we still love her :-) Especially since she spoils us all of the time anyway - MOL!!!

Mommy bought me and Albie an automatic litter box for Christmas (yes, we did ask if that gift was really for us...or for her...MOL) Well, I took to it right away and love it! I only use that box now. Albie just started using it a couple weeks ago. Now that two kitties are using it...Mommy is not so sure she likes it.

It is a Scoopfree litter box - it uses litter trays full of crystals. The crystals absorb the urine instead of clumping and the solid waste is raked into an enclosure. The litter tray is supposed to last up to a month...up to 2 weeks when 2 kitties use it. It barely lasted a month for me and now that Albie is using it? Well, Mommy replaced the tray Monday evening; this is now Thursday evening and the blue crystals are green and the room that the box is in STINKS already!

Mommy had chosen the Scoopfree over the other boxes because it had the most positive reviews...She doesn't understand why now... So, we thought we would ask our furiends here on Catster if any of you use automatic litter boxes and if so which ones? Thanks! :-)

We have a question for all our friends, so I am borrowing part of Toby's diary from today:

----
Anyway, I've been doing pretty well since I started all my new meds. I made it through the first two weeks, which was VERY important because of all that fluid threatening to tear my heart! I will be going to the regular vet soon, so that can listen to my chest and make sure that the fluid really has reduced, because if not then I have to increase my lasix.

I am having one issue since I started these new meds (pimobendan and lasix). I am licking the carpet ALL THE TIME. I used to do this every now and then, but I was always easily distracted from that with my favorite spearmint rope toy. However, since starting these new meds, nothing distracts me from that carpet. The worst part is, the more I lick the carpet, the more I cough because of all the doggie and kitty hair! (Mommy and Stefi gave up hope a while ago of ever being able to keep the carpet hairless again! BOL) Has anybody ever heard of these meds causing this problem - carpet licking? I also started a new food when I started the new meds - Science Diet Mature Little Bites. We don't know if it's the meds or the food because I started everything at the same time, all we know is that I HAVE TO STOP LICKING THE CARPET! So, any adivce or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :-)

Thanks everyone! -Harry

We are still here everyone! Sorry we are not around too much anymore, but Mommy has started a new job. She is actually subbing in the position she wants with hopes of actually getting the job once they start hiring for it. But it is full time, and she has never worked full time before - she is exhausted!! Not to mention that she is in a classroom all day with 19 4 year olds! There's a teacher in the room with her (always 2 people with the kids) but it is still exhausting! Mommy has been coming home from work, taking a shower, eating dinner, and going straight to bed!! Hopefully, as she gets used to the job and used to working full time, she won't be going to bed so early...Her online classes start this week, so she is hoping she is up at least long enough for homework! MOL

But until Mommy gets used to her new schedule, we just wanted to let everyone know that we are still here!! We hope everyone is doing well and we will catch up soon!!

Sorry we didn't post when we said we would - the past couple of days have been a little crazy here.. ...

Sorry we didn't post when we said we would - the past couple of days have been a little crazy here...

Toby was weighed and had his blood pressure taken when he first got to the doctor on Wednesday. He had gained back the 2lbs. he had lost and his blood pressure was good. Then, he had an ultrasound done followed by some x-rays. The ultrasound showed that his heart had gotten even bigger and that there was fluid in the sack that goes around his heart. The x-rays showed some fluid was backing up into his lungs from his heart, which explains his coughing. Since his heart is so much worse and there is now fluid in his lungs, he is considered to be in the beginning stages of congestive heart failure.

He has been on Enalapril since he was first diagnosed when he was 5. He is staying on that, and the doctor added Lasix to help with the fluid, as well as Pimobendan, which is supposed to help prolong survival of dogs in heart failure. He started the Lasix on Thursday and starts the Pimobendan on Monday. He also had his food switched to the Science Diet Mature Little Bites, since it has a lower sodium count.

As if it is not bad enough that he is starting to go into congestive heart failure, there is another issue because of the fluid in the sack around his heart. The doctor said that the pressure from this fluid can cause a small tear in his heart. We have to watch for the signs of this happening (trouble breathing, fainting) because if it does, he has to be seen immediately. The doctor said it can cause S***** D****. Hopefully, you all can understand what that means, Mommy and I are too upset by the thought of that to actually type it...However, during the next couple weeks, Toby is having to restrict his activity and is not allowed to exercise, take the stairs, play too hard, etc. This is so that the Lasix has time to "kick in" and get rid of the fluid since being too active with all that fluid in there can make him worse.

The doctor used 2 more words that Mommy says are words that you never want to hear a doctor say: "borrowed time". This is what she said that Toby COULD be living on. As long as the meds kick in, and he starts feeling better, we don't have to worry too much, though... Cavs live 10-12 years and he is 10. So, considering he was diagnosed with MVD at 5, he's really been doing very well. So, we are trying to be optimistic about the meds working - the Lasix already seems to be helping with his cough! In fact, on the web site for the US Cav club, it says that Cavs with MVD have been able to live up to 13-14 years old! So, we are keeping our paws and fingers crossed that this is the case with Toby.

Along with keeping our paws crossed, we know that that the power of purrs can be an amazing thing so we would like to ask all of our wonderful furiends to please PURR for Toby! Thank you!!

Oh, and thank you to the kitties who have sent Toby gifts: Tiskers and the Family of The Drifter, Mouse, Purrdie, Muffin, Willow, Charley, Ellie, Flick, Toby, Bonnie, April, Merlin, Toby Too, Sylvester, Gazza, Tikka, Arri, Red, Smudge, Smokey, Pooh, Bruiser, Thomas, and Da Vinci.
That's right! My tumor is gone! We can't believe it! Yesterday mommy noticed that it was half skin color, half red, but still swollen. Then, today when Granddad told her to go ahead and schedule my surgery, she decided to check it first. Good thing she did! It's GONE. There is a very little bit of dry skin where it used to be but that's it...and Mommy only sees that because she knows where to look!

Mommy called Dr. Jewett to tell them and Dr. Jewett said "That's great!" She said that it's because she waved her magic wand and made it disappear! MOL She said that these can do that sometimes, they can just come and go. So, we just have to keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't come back, but other than that...I'm fine now! No surgery for me! Unbelieveable, right?!? Mommy was SO worried about me... So, we are super excited now!!! :-)

Toby has had growths before...his vet said it was because of his age and that he would get them every now and then. The first time he had them he had 2 and 1 fell off on its own. He now has another one. He is getting on in years, so this makes sense. So, we're a little confused about me getting something similar...but we're not going to question it anymore - we're are just going to CELEBRATE!

Thanks to everyone who sent purrs, pawmails, gifts and prayers! They must have been what helped me!! :-)

Mommy and I just came inside after being outside for at least 20 minutes, if not longer...and Mommy is NOT happy about that... She was sitting here at the computer...about to apply for some part time jobs to help pay for my surgery...when she heard a cat meowing. She thought it was Albie, but realized it was the gold cat from across the street and it had cornered our friend Oliver. Oliver is the kitty that lives in the house across the street next to the house where the gold kitty lives. Oliver comes to visit all the time...his owner jokes that this is his second home! MOL The gold cat is always picking fights with Oliver and Mommy had been out there with both of them earlier...only coming in when the gold cat seemed to be on his way home. Well, when she stepped outside after hearing the gold cat meowing she found that he had cornered Oliver in a corner of the porch. Well, she shooed the gold cat away and told him to go back home. However, when she turned to come back inside...I bolted out!

I went to the opposite side of the porch from where Oliver was, but Mommy tried to catch me so I flew down the stairs and went behind some bushes so she couldn't catch me. It was also in my favor that her leg had fallen asleep while she had been sitting at the computer so she could barely walk much less run after me. So, she yelled for my Granny to get my Uncle Jason so he could come help. Meanwhile, I went down to the side of the house. (The entire front of the house is lined with bushes and flowers and I used those to prevent Mommy from being able to get to me.) Mommy almost had me at one point but I ran under a big holly bush just in time. Then, when I came out from under there, she almost had me again, but I ran under the porch before she could get me. The porch has that trellis stuff along the bottom of it all the way around. There is a good 4-5 inches on the side I was on where it is raised off the ground a bit...so I was able to get in, but she wasn't able to get me. They had flashlights by this point and followed my progress down to the other side of the porch with those. I spent at least 5 minutes under there before coming out and using the bushes once again to escape Mommy. I had almost made it down to the OTHER side of the house, when she came up from in front of me...her leg had woken up so she was able to run ahead of me...but using the bushes I still made it to the driveway which is when I put on a burst of speed and headed toward the woods that are next to/behind our house. Mommy was able to block me again though so I led her back down towards the porch and was about to hide under these really big plants when all of a sudden she grabbed me by my hips. I tried to run but it was too late - she had me! She took me back inside and told me I was a bad boy for going outside like that.

Uncle Jason is FURIOUS with me, but while Mommy is upset, she's more sad because she doesn't want anything to happen to me. But I am always trying to get outside and she is afraid that one day she won't be able to catch me in time and something bad will happen.

Oliver sat on the porch the whole time I was exploring trying to figure out why they were chasing me around. He came down off the porch at one point and was rubbing against her as she tried to see me when I was under the porch. He was trying to tell her that it was ok, but she kept telling him to go get me out from under the porch! He kept rubbing against her, giving her headbonks and that actually made her feel a little better - there's nothing like kitty headbonks!! Once she had caught me and went to take me in, we passed by him (he was sitting on the porch again) and she leaned down to pet him and tell him he was a good boy. I'm confused - he runs around outside and is a "good boy", I go outside and I'm a bad boy?? NO FAIR!! Although, Mommy does say that if she had her way she'd let him move in with us so he wouldn't be outside anymore. She is such a worrier she even worries about the neighbor kitties!!

I'm upset that I wasn't able to explore me...but I also know that I really really upset Mommy tonight. Between the vet the other day and now this...I'm going to have to find a way to cheer Mommy up (and let her know I love her!!)

Mommy and Grandma took me to see Dr. Jewett this afternoon for my 6 month wellness visit and rabies ...

Mommy and Grandma took me to see Dr. Jewett this afternoon for my 6 month wellness visit and rabies shot. The assistant asked Mommy lots of questions about me to make sure I was purrfectly healthy. Mommy answered "no" to questions about tummy troubles, lumps and bumps, and told her what food I eat. When she left to get Dr. Jewett, Mommy was petting me to keep me calm and started rubbing my ears. She looked down at my ears when she did and noticed something red. She took a closer look and saw that I have a red bump right inside my right ear. So much for the "no" Mommy gave to the question about me having any lumps or bumps...

Well, Dr. Jewett finally came in and kept saying how gorgeous I am! She started checking me over and Mommy told her about the bump. So, Dr. Jewett checked it out and said it was definitely not from a scratch. Mommy had thought it might be an ulcer like Albie gets, but it wasn't that either. So, Dr. Jewett used a syringe to take a mini biopsy and was able to get some blood from it, too, and got all of that on to a slide. Before she went to look at it up closely, she said not to worry if she comes back in and says anything involving the words "tumor or cancer." She said those words mean nothing unless she adds malignant to them.

When she came back from looking at the cells she got from me, she said, "ok....well..." which made Mommy and Grandma go "uh-oh." I have a "round-celled" tumor, however there were not enough cells there for Dr. Jewett to tell if it is malignant (bad) or benign (g00d). She does not like ANY bumps or lumps on her animals, she says there is always a chance of them leading to bad things. So, she said we can either just keep an eye on it or we can remove it right away. She said she can said the slide to a pathologist, but even the pathologist will not be 100% sure unless they have the entire tumor. So, the best option for me is for Dr. Jewett to remove the tumor as soon as possible, and send it off to the pathologist; that way we definitely know what kind of tumor it is AND it will be gone before it can cause too many issues! Dr. Jewett said that since it it tiny (less than half an inch), it would be better for her to remove it now anyway since she would be able to definitely get ALL of it. She said that it may be small, but the incision will be big so that she doesn't leave anything behind and so that the pathologist can see all of it when deciding what it is.

When Dr. Jewett was telling me how gorgeous I am :-) ... she said that I have a lot of traits that go along with an American Shorthair. So, she said she is going to do some research to see if American Shorthairs are known to have any problems with their skin. She knows they have a history of Cardiomyopathy (same thing that several of my friends have! - we knew it was common among ragdolls and maine coons, but american shorthairs, too?!?) but she is not sure of anything other than that. We don't know what breeds are in me, but it makes sense to go with the one that is the most obvious!!

Have any of you ever heard of American Shorthairs having problems with their skin??

Mommy is so sad right now...Albie's ulcers were finally getting better and now I have a tumor! Albie and I will have to give her some extra loving for the next few days...

UPDATE:
I just received a power of the paw from sweet Muppet and family. It said: "Sweet Harry, We have our paws crossed for you that your tumor is not the bad kind! Hugs, purrs & prayers, Lil' Muppet & Family xoxo" Thank you so much, Muppet and Family, for thinking of me!

Ludo is doing much, much better! Thank you to everyone who purred for him! We don't know what exactly caused him to be so sick - but at least he is better!

Ludo actually came to visit us this past weekend. His Daddy came to visit our Mommy and brought Ludo along, too! We were first introduced to Ludo while he was still in the carrier - he seemed like a nice kitty and Albie actually tried to help him escape his carrer - he tried to open the door for him! So, Mommy took that as a sign that we would be okay and opened the carrier. Ludo came out and we sniffed each other all over and then we followed Ludo around as he explored the house. He got cranky when his Daddy picked him up to get him away from our litter box, then got even more cranky when our Mommy and his Daddy kept him from going upstairs. He was mad at them - but took it out on me and Albie! He growled at us and then even smacked at me and hissed! So, he got put in "time out" in the carrier and taken downstairs, which is where he spent most of the weekend. He got introduced to the dogs eventually, and from that point on couldn't be allowed upstairs for too long. When he would come up he we would spend the whole time growling and hissing at all of us! He doesn't like doggies and so was scared to be up here. Mommy and his Daddy would try holding him, but he still growled and hissed at all of us. So, he spent most of the weekend downstairs. We are all being understanding though because he was a stray kitty, so we have no clue what all he met while outside but we do know that he was covered in scabs and scars when his Daddy found him, so he had been in a fight with someone, we just don't know who - because of his reaction to the dogs, we think it might have been another doggie. His Daddy is bringing him up for a little bit this weekend, to give us all another chance. He doesn't want to wait too long to bring him back and have us all forget each other and have to start all over. So, we'll see how it goes this weekend...

On another note, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince comes out tomorrow (Tuesday) night at midnight! And Mommy has tickets for the midnight showing!!! YAY!! :-D We can't wait!!

Ludo's x-ray didn't show anything that would be causing a blockage. So, the vet said that either it passed the first time they put the catheter in or there was never anything there and he was just trying to get over an infection. So, the vet put him on Clavamox in case of infection and Torbutrol for his urinary spasms (for pain). Since there was no blockage on the x-ray, the vet went ahead and sent Ludo home this morning. Ludo is still in pain, though.

However, about an hour ago, Mommy heard from Ludo's Daddy - he had to take Ludo back to the vet. Ludo has been eating and drinking since getting home this morning, but has yet to use the litter box - for any reason... So, he took him back to the vet to make sure that there is nothing else wrong. We will update when we get more information!!!

Please continue to keep your paws crossed and purr for Ludo!

**Thank you, Sam, for the purrs!!

UPDATE: Ludo had another urinalysis done and the vet still didn't find anything. So, the vet went ahead and expressed his bladder again, just in case. The vet is thinking that maybe this has happened because Ludo injured his tail somehow, afterall. He thinks that maybe he injured a nerve which has caused the issue with his bladder. So, on top of the Clavamox and Torbutrol, the vet now has him on something to help his bladder contract so he can pee on his own, as well as Metacam to help with any inflammation that could be causing pain in his tail. If he still hasn't peed on his own by tomorrow, then they want Ludo's Daddy to take Ludo back to the office to see the vet from last night who had originally thought it was a problem with his urinary tract.

This is all very confusing. It seems that both the urinary tract and tail are acting up - and one caused the other, it just is confusing which caused the other.

Please continue to purr for Ludo! He is in so much pain right now...

Our new furriend, Ludo, is very sick right now. His daddy has taken him to the ER vet - he noticed that Ludo wasn't lifting his tail when he moved...and was barely moving, so he was worried that Ludo had somehow broken his tail. However, then he realized that Ludo had been to the litter box to pee 3 times in only 5 minutes. So, he took him to the ER vet, and the vet took Ludo into the back to get a urine sample. Apparently, Ludo had a full bladder - and that was after peeing 3 times!! So, the vet said that something is preventing Ludo from peeing as much as he needs to with one visit to the litter box. His daddy and our Mommy had noticed this about him this past weekend, but he had just been in the vet's office to get neutered, so they figured it might be because of that. Apparently not. The vet had to put a catheter in Ludo to drain his bladder, and then he will be hooked up to a catheter and an IV for the next 3-4 days so they can flush his system out in order to get rid of anything causing a blockage. We are very worried about Ludo right now...Please keep your paws crossed that he gets better soon!!

Good news!! Toby is ok!! The vet listened to his heart and lungs and said that she didn't hear any fluid!! She said that there could be a small amount...and that x-rays might show it, but she doesn't think that is what is causing the coughing and wheezing. She said because it's the left side of his heart that is enlarged, it is probably just that his heart is pressing against his trachea. She said it's not causing him any pain - just causing him to cough and wheeze a little. She asked about his activity level and Mommy and Grandma said that he was just as active as always. The vet said he is totally fine right now - especially since there is no fluid and he is active! Apparently, he is on the highest dose he can take of Enalapril - but that's ok since he's doing so well.

If there had been fluid in his lungs, she would have put him on Lasix to help remove the fluid - but there's no fluid! The vet said that we just have to watch for him to be coughing and wheezing a lot worse...and for him to stop wanting to play and run around...if that happens then we take him in for x-rays and if there's fluid he'll be put on Lasix then. But he's doing so well right now that we shouldn't have to worry about that for awhile. OH, the vet also said that his heart murmur is still a 4/6 - same as last time, which means he really is staying the same and not getting worse!

We are sooooo happy that Toby is ok! Mommy was REALLY worried about him...she has trouble sleeping at night and so she's usually up with him while he's wheezing several times a night - it seems to be worse at night. But, now we know he is ok and Mommy can stop worrying about our Toby Tobers!!

We love you, Toby!! :-)

We are very worried about our doggie uncle, Toby. He has MVD (mitral valve disease) which is common among his breed, Cavaliers. He was diagnosed when he was 5 and Cavs live 9-12 years, unless they have MVD. Well, we were very excited last month when he turned 10!! However, lately he's been coughing a lot more and wheezing... Mommy is afraid that his heart is getting worse and worse now that he is older and that the wheezing is because fluid has started backing up into his lungs. :-(

He has been doing so well on his Enalapril, though! He has been on it for 5 years and only in the past few weeks has the MVD seemed to be progressing. How amazing is that?? We love Enalapril!! MOL

Grandma made Toby a vet appointment for Thursday morning (it was the first available) so that he can get updated on his shots, since it is that time for him, and also so that they can check his heart. Mommy and Grandma will take him in - we are keeping our paws and fingers crossed that he has not gone into heart failure already. He is still acting like a happy puppy and is as playful as always, so we are hoping that the MVD hasn't progressed that far yet and that the vet can just raise his dose of Enalapril to stop the MVD from progressing even further. We know that he cannot get better, we just don't want him to get worse!!

WE LOVE OUR TOBY!! :-)

First, I want to thank everyone who sent me presents and birthday wishes for my 3rd Birthday! I feel like such a special kitty and am so thankful for my wonderful catster furiends!

My grandparents and Mommy went in on my present together this year. They got me a new bed from Drs. Foster and Smith. It has a blanket attached to the top. They know that I love burrowing into blankets, so they figured this was the perfect bed for me! :-) Mommy will try to upload pictures soon, but for now, here is the picture from the web site:

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3261+1883+8524&pcatid=8524

Mine is the "Blueberry Plaid Paws" color - it matches our furniture! MOL

Mommy hasn't had time to upload pictures yet, because she has been busy with Albie. He went to the vet a couple weeks ago because of a very sore paw. Here is the diary entry from that appointment:

http://www.catster.com/cats/789201/diary/Kitty_tales/584775

(Sorry, mommy does not know the better way of inserting links, so hopefully this works.)

Albie went back to the vet on Monday to get a re-check and found out that he really does have this "otto em youn" illness, as he calls it. Here is his newest diary entry:

http://www.catster.com/cats/789201/diary/Kitty_tales/587875

If any kitty out there has suggestions for grain-free cat food, we really would be grateful! We're not used to having a bland diet - we always have a variety of foods to eat! MOL (Are we spoiled or what? MOL)

Mommy and Granddad went to the Cat Show in Dulles on Saturday (yes, during the Tropical Storm)! They had tons of fun! Albie was upset that he didn't get to go, but I was ok with not going - I don't like strangers! But I did miss them while they were gone.

They sure made it up to me and Albie though! They brought home cool new toys for us! They brought home 3 peacock feathers, which are red, white, and blue! They are so fun!!!!! They also brought a new wand toy, it has what Mommy calls "fleece" hanging off of it. I think it's really cool cause it looks like a big tail, or a snake even, when they move it all around!

Mommy had been worried about me for the past few weeks because I was acting like a loner - I didn't want to be around anyone or play with anyone. But, last week I started acting a little bit more like myself - I had even slept in Mommy's room for half the night with her when Albus had been in with Grandma. Then, she brought these fun new toys home, and Mommy says I am totally back to my old self again!! I'm purring more, rubbing up against everyone, staying with everyone, and playing a whole lot more! Mommy doesn't know if it's just the new toys or what - She's just happy to see me happy again! (I'm not going to tell her what was wrong or what "cured" me - I'm just going to let her be happy!)

Mommy and my grandparents are going to go to another cat show, this time in Richmond, in October - I hope they bring me and Albie home more fun toys! :-)

Oh yeah - Mommy has pictures of me and Albie playing with our new toys that she will post later! :-)

I got to taste sunflower seeds the other day! Mommy was not happy about it, though! She had just gotten her snack ready - a little bowl with mini sesame sticks and sunflower seeds. She left it on the counter for a second so she could clean some dishes that were in the sink real fast. But, then all of a sudden she hears "Munch Munch Munch" and looked over to see me with my head in her bowl!! MOL! She told me NO and took it away, so I spit a couple pieces of the seeds out at her! MOL I just wanted to try them, that's all!

Mommy doesn't understand why I did this - I only ever smell her food - she knows that's all I do, and it makes me happy to be able to smell her food, so she always lets me smell anything she eats or drinks. But for some reason those sunflower seeds smelled so good I had to taste them! Mommy couldn't believe her eyes.

It's funny because Mommy had just told Albie that I must be rubbing off on him - he bolted out the bedroom door when she had opened it for a second while getting ready for them to go to bed. This is something I used to do whenever Mommy would have me lay in her room. So, she said I'm rubbing off on him. THEN, I pull the sunflower seed stunt. Albie is a kitty who can't just smell - he has to taste. She is trying to teach him to just smell like I do, though. So she said Albie must be rubbing off on me, too! MOL

As upset as Mommy was about me eating some sunflower seeds, I made sure to make it up to her. She ended up putting Albie in with my Grandma that night, so Mommy's bedroom door was open. So, I went in there and slept in her room for half the night. I've missed being with Mommy at night and I know it made her happy to have me in there!

So, now she has her computer back AND can get online!! WOHOO!!! We're doing the happy dance over here! :-)

Mommy is happy she got it back not only so we can get on Catster whenever we went, but also because her classes start tomorrow! Some of the courses are online so she was trying to figure out how she would be able to do them without her puter - but no worries anymore! :-)

I'm not happy that Mommy starts classes tomorrow - she won't be around all the time, and when she is she'll have tones of homework!! She is taking extra classes this semester so that she can graduate in May- she was supposed to have graduated by now and is determined to graduate in May! Although, she does only have to go in for 3 classes, but then she does have all that homework to do! ugh! At least me and Albie have each other while she's in class! We'll just force her to take breaks from homework and play with us!! :-)

Mommy and Grandma were in Grandma and Granddad's room yesterday for a long time and when I went to inspect the door was shut. I pushed it open (it's warped, so even I can open it!) and saw that the room had been turned upside down! All of the furniture was in the middle of the room and they had these cloth things spread on the floor. I could smell this really strong smell and I think it was coming from this wet stuff that they were spreading onto the walls! I have no clue what they were doing! Mommy saw me peak into the room and came over to make sure I didn't go in there - she did let me look, though.

Then today, they were in there again! This time I made it inside before they realized that someone had opened the door!! It smelled awful in there! The wet stuff was all over the walls!! And Grandma was finishing up spreading over the middle of the ceiling!!! Mommy wasn't happy that I was in there. She seemed to be afraid that I would get the wet stuff on me and she wasn't sure what it would do to me. They had Granddad try to get me out of there because they both had the wet stuff on their hands and couldn't pick me up. Granddad couldn't get to me, though. So, Mommy went downstairs and all of a sudden I hear "Shake, Shake, Shake" I peaked out of the door and down the stairs and there was Mommy shaking a container of treats!! I went downstairs and Mommy had Granddad give me and Albie some treats (Albie had heard the "Shake, Shake, Shake" and come running, too!) Mommy disappeared while I was eating my treats - I assume she went back up to Grandma and Granddad's room.

I have no clue what Mommy and Grandma were doing! Mommy said something about "paynt" but I don't know what that is - possibly the wet stuff? I don't know...all I know is that it smelled horrible in that room! Mommy and Grandma are crazy for using that wet stuff when it smells so bad!! Pewww!!

Ohh...Mommy is soooo mad!!!! When she turned in her puter they asked about a dsic and she said she didn't have one, so they said they would figure something out... Then, she got a call on Tuesday saying that Best Buy had her 'puter back and that they needed her to bring in her recovery discs...she has those, so she did...they were supposed to call her the next day to pick it up and didn't. So, Mommy called yesterday to ask about it and they said it STILL wasn't ready and that they would call her tomorrow (today) to pick it up!! But then it got even worse... They called her back last night and said the discs are BLANK and said she would have to call Gateway!!!! So, Grandma called Gateway for her because Mommy was too mad and the people at Gateway said that Mommy was supposed to have gone online and made the recovery dics when she first got her puter - nice of someone to finally tell her that...when it was too late!!!! So, they ordered recovery discs and they said it would be about THREE WEEKS before they showed up!!!! They have to make the discs, too, and because of everyone going back to school they're swamped! Mommy is furious!! She starts classes in a week and a couple of them are going to be online! Granddad's computer stopped working so we're taking it to a friend to work on it because he works on computers... Uncle Jason's computer is barely working - it shuts off whenever it wants....

Mommy is so mad at Best Buy and Gateway!!! HISSSSSSS.........

To top all that off - Mommy and I get on Uncle Jason's puter during the few minutes its actually working and find out in our HP fan Club that the release date for the Half-Blood Prince movie is being pushed back from Novemeber 21 to July 17!!!!!! HISSSSSSS....

We are NOT happy over here!!!!

Mommy is putting up with this ANCIENT computer long enough for me to tell you all about my outdoor adventure! (She is also doing this for me because she is just so happy I'm safe!!)

So, every morning that my Granddad is home (he works nights), he opens the windows for me and Albie so we can sit on the windowsills and enjoy the fresh air and watching the birds. This morning he had opened the windows and then went and sat at the table to read the paper; Albie went with him, while I lounged on one of the windowsills. Granddad heard a noise after a little bit but wasn't too concerned about it. About 5-10 minutes later, he got up and was going to go down into the basement when something told him to go into the dining room. He walks in and realizes the noise he heard was the screen popping out of the window that I had been in!! He didn't see me anywhere, so he went to the window and said, "Harry?" Then saw my head pop up from behind a bush that lines the sidewalk that leads to our porch!!!!

He tried to stay calm and was heading outside when he realized that the window was still open and Albie was now on the windowsill!! He went back and got Albie off the windowsill then shut the window. When he went outside, the noise of the door scared me a little and I almost ran, but realized it was just Granddad. So, he talked to me and asked me what I was doing outside. He slowly walked up to me and held his hand out for me to sniff. When I turned to look at something he scooped me up and carried me back inside!

Then he went and woke Mommy up and said he wanted to show her something. He told her that before he showed her that he wanted her to know that all kitties were present and accounted for - MOL. So, he showed her the screen that was sitting outside the window and told her what happened. You all should have seen her face!!! She thanked Granddad for getting me back inside and for waiting to wake her up after I was safe inside!! Then, she scopped me up because I had come to say "Hi" and she squeezed me tight and gave me tons of kisses...yuck!!! MOL I put up with it because I knew she was so relieved that I was okay!

I try to go outside on the deck every chance I get and have managed to a few times, but someone always gets me back inside. I can't help that I'm curious about the outdoors!! So, when the screen popped out today, I thought, "Hey! Here's my chance!" So, I went out onto the porch and then walked down the sidewalk to smell all the plants!! We have outdoor kitties that live on our street and they always like to come over here, so I had to make sure my scent was out there, too! One of the kitties even pees on (as in ON TOP OF) the bushes, so that's why Granddad found me sniffing the bushes!! MOL I don't need other kitties marking MY territory!!

I know Mommy worries about what might happen if I go outside though. Before this I had only made it onto the deck because like I said they always get me back in too fast for me to really investigate!! So, now Mommy is hoping that the sidewalk is the furthest I'll ever make it outside!! We'll see about that.... MOL!!!

Thank you to all the kitties who have given me febreeze collars since I last wrote: the family of Jadzia Dax, Tasha Yar, & Saavik, Milagro the Miracle, and the family of Snowflake, Caly, Kepler, and Maynrys!!

Yay! Mommy has finally added a bunch more pictures to my page! She was so excited about getting Catster Plus so she could add more pictures, but then hadn't added the pictures yet! But they're added now and she says that she'll add more as she takes them :-)

Mommy has been letting me have the run of the house at night more often lately - I normally lay in her room, but I always leave after just a couple hours, so she has tried just leaving me out all night. I like having the freedom, but don't like that I can't get back in to see Mommy whenever I want because she has to keep the door shut so that Albie doesn't leave! Mommy hasn't decided which way is better yet letting me stay for a couple hours or just letting me have my freedom- so we'll see...

Mommy was in Grandma's room last night (Granddad works nights) because she had to get a "pro-seed-your" done yesterday and so she didn't want to be by herself. So, I was able to get into our room whenever I wanted!! (but still didn't get to see Mommy!) Albie was with them and he told me that he was upset because Mommy wouldn't let him play with Grandma last night! He kept trying to play with her but Mommy told him that he was going to get them thrown out of the room because Grandma was trying to sleep! hehe If I had been in there, I would have been a good boy and I wouldn't have bothered Grandma. :-)

Albus came home last night! I got to see him for a little bit when he first came in but then he got taken upstairs to Uncle Jason's room (where he's staying for3 weeks). I was really nervous last night because of the dogs barking at the people that brought Albie...but then I felt better when mommy and I started our bedtime routine last night of me being fed and given water, then mommy giving me a "rub down" before we layed down to go to sleep...I was glad to being sleeping next to Mommy after the night I had! I even fell asleep while laying right against her - I felt so safe! :-)
I keep hearing Albie meow this morning... Last time it was when mommy left his room...so I went and stood guard at the door. When mommy came back I rubbed against her legs and then went to the door - i was trying to tell her that something was wrong with the kitty! I wanted to get in to help him feel better but couldn't get the door open...Mommy finally went in to help Albie when Granddad got my attention to follow him downstairs...I don't know why they won't let me in the room to see Albie! Mommy said something about it being so that I don't get upset and so Albie gets use to living here - but I want to see him!

UPDATE: Mommy just started Albie's page! Make sure to stop by and say "hi" to my baby brother! :-D

Mommy said that he's going to be in a separate room for a few weeks, though. They want us to get used to each other being in the same house before they put us together. Mommy said that he won't be coming home until next weekend (we're hoping Friday) because he still has to get his first distemper shot and the lady from the rescue wants to make sure he gets an exam from the vet before he comes home. He is recovering from an "upper respiratory infection" (I checked with Mommy before I typed that - it has so many big words!) and so she wants to make sure he is healthy before we get him - Mommy really appreciates that! Mommy has decided that his name will be Albus Severus and she'll call him Albie! hehe - you know she had to stick with a Harry Potter name! I'm so excited that I'm going to finally have someone to play with!! We can't wait for next weekend!!! :-D

Oh yeah, Mommy said she will create a Catster page for him once he comes home! We'll let everyone know when she's put it together! :-)

She also said something about "terrible 2s" and wondering if they effect cats, too... hmmm... I got new toys from Mommy and my grandparents - yay! One of the toys is a new catnip shrimpie that mommy made for me!! (My old one is falling apart so she had to take it away.) My other new toys are so cool! One is a ball with a fishie floating in water, another is a ball that flashes lights when I bat it around, and that other one is a ball that has a birdie sticking out of it! So fun!! :-D Mommy will add pics and a video of me with my new toys later! :-)

First, I want to say a big THANK YOU to Lancelot for the birdie! I'm glad you like the new pics - Mommy realized it had been awhile since she updated my profile and I'm glad she finally did! The furniture I'm laying on - Mommy keeps saying that I'm going to go through the window one day while I'm playing on it - I'm so rough with it and it starts moving around while I play! I bet you could tear it down in no time! hehe :-) Thanks again for the birdie!

Now I have a question for everyone - Has anyone every heard of a mousie that likes to live in a car? There's a mousie that keeps going into Grandpa's car - they have found torn up pieces of tissue and even some droppings! They tried getting rid of any paper products in the car (tissues were taken out and the paperwork for the car is in a leather case now) but the mousie is still leaving torn up pieces of tissue in the car, especially in the glove box!! Any ideas of why this mousie is doing this? I keep telling Mommy to let me go out there for a bit and I'll take care of it and Grandpa agrees! But Mommy said NO! She won't let me go outside - not even to let me solve the mousie problem!! Grandpa said he could try putting a trap in the car - but Mommy uses the car to go to class every day - so she said that if he does then he has to check it everyday before she leaves - she doesn't want to get in the car and find a mousie caught in the trap! She's already afraid of finding the mousie right now and she really doesn't want to find him stuck in a trap! Anyone have any ideas of what we can do about this? Thanks :-)

Oh yeah - the Mets logo on my profile - Mommy did that, but I am not happy with it!! We are all Nationals fans here - but Mommy is also a Mets fan. (She still likes the Nats, especially this Zimmer Man or whatever his name is - but the Nats traded two of her favorite players to the Mets so she likes them now, too.) I'm going to have to try to convince Mommy to put a Nats background up - I don't like the Mets! It's funny because my Grandpa had actually warned me that she might try to make me a Mets fan, too! But I'm with the rest of our family - GO NATS!! :-) Boo Mets!! :-P

I don't like the first day of the month! It means my icky flea/tick/heartworm treatment. Mommy puts in on my back but I can still taste it and then end up licking my lips for the next 5-10 minutes trying to get rid of the taste! I almost found a way out of it today though! Mommy had me on her lap and was messing with my hair just about to put it on - and I jumped down and ran away! HAHAHA freedom! I thought I was good to go, too. Once I was down there was no catching me! But then she pulled out my new shoe string toy and was playing with me - and just when I was really getting into playing - she grabbed me! ARGH!! I tried to get away again but she got the stuff on me before I could! It's so icky! She gave me a treat to try to help with the taste but I'm still upset that she put it on me! (She said only one because I had jumped down - I should get a lot more jus because she put that nasty stuff on me!) I guess I will have to go take my frustration out by chasing Toby and Daisy around the house... hehehe...

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't written for awhile but my Mommy's classes have started - so it's hard for me to get on her computer! I'm so excited because I've had friends coming to visit me during the past couple of weekends! Last weekend (not this past weekend), Zildj came to see us! He's been having a problem with his leg so I didn't know when I'd be able to see him again - or if we'd be able to play if he did come up! But he did come up and we were allowed to play - we had so much fun! I hope he's coming up during the weekend of my Grandpa's birthday!! Mommy has fall break then, and so does uncle Brian - so maybe Zildj will be able to stay a little longer if he does come then! This past weekend my friend Bella came to see me! Our mommies and my grandma were getting together to watch something - I think they called it Grey's Anatomy - I don't know what it is but they love it and were watching it on dvd because there is new ones on tv again. I don't know why they like it so much - Mommy has mentioned something about "mcdreamy" and "mcsteamy" whatever those are - I don't care, all i know it that this is time every week that mommy should be playing with me instead!! oh well...back to what i was saying - I finally got to meet Bella! We were both really nervous and kind of scared - we're not used to be around other cats. Bella had to go home early because Toby and Daisy were scaring her too much! Bella even took a swat at Daisy!! It didn't hurt her and I'm glad she did it because Daisy should have left her alone the first time Bella warned her that she was scared! Mommy might try to take me over to Bella's house next time - so that Bella will be more comfortable. But only if I can be brave and let mommy put me in my carrier - I really don't like it - it's scary!! So yeah - those were my busy weekends! I had a blast and can't wait to see Zildj and Bella again! :-D

So, mom was so worried about the 7th book being ruined for her that she wouldn't go near the phone, internet, or tv until she was done reading it! Which means that she wouldn't even let me get on here long enough to let everyone know that we got it!! Mommy and her brother threw their own Harry Potter Party here on Friday night...Mom even dressed me up in a cloak and hat!! (Pictures will be posted soon.) Then everyone went to Wal-Mart just before midnight for the official release. I was upset I couldn't go but they were only gone an hour! They got their books really fast! Mom immediately started reading when they got back. She was reading earlier today alone in her room...so I came in and rubbed my head all over the book - she thought I was marking it as my own but I was just reminding her that I wanted to read it, too, and so she needed to share! :-D She's already finished it but her, her brother, and some friends are getting together as soon as they are each finished to discuss it - it should be interesting to see what everyone thought of it! Then Mom's already decided she's going to start reading all of the books again from the beginning! I can't wait to read them from start to finish, either!

Today was a very sad day. I lost one of my best friends, Cocoa. Mommy's mommy is the one who found him this morning...he had fallen asleep...and stayed asleep... He was my Mommy's bunny and had been apart of her family for 9 years. I had only known him for a year, but I know he was the best bunny and he was one of my best friends! I have always loved playing with him; we would run around and chase each other - it was always so much fun! We're all very sad and we are going to miss Cocoa so much.
Rest in peace, Cocoa Bunny. We love you and will never forget you...

We celebrated my 1st birthday today! My birthday is actually not until Thursday, but my Mommy couldn't wait to give me my presents! She knitted me a toy mouse that has catnip in it! This is the first time I have been given catnip and I loved it! My mommy and her parents kept laughing cause I just kept rubbing all over the mouse over and over again. I also got a crinkle tunnel. It's so fun to crawl around in! I love hiding in it and then "attacking" Toby and Daisy when they pass by :-) I will post pictures from today soon. Toby was having a hard time with letting me get all the attention today...but luckily his birthday is tomorrow and that's when we are all celebrating it so he will get a lot of attention then! I was a little nervous at first, though, because he looked like he had gotten bigger! But he was the same Zildj and we had a blast playing together!
Today my Mommy decided to give me a bath. I was so scared! She put me in this shower that had glass walls and a glass door. When she turned the water on, I tried to find a way out but there wasn't one. She put some shampoo on me and then after a bit picked me up to get it off when she realized that I wasn't going to get into the water stream willingly. I climbed up her and onto the rack hanging on the side but she kept pulling me off! So, I tried to climb on her head but she didn't let me do that, either! When she put me back down I jumped and reached the rack and tried to climb but, again, she pulled me back down. I kept telling her how scared I was, and she kept trying to tell me I was okay...but I didn't believe her. She finally said I was almost done, but I was still so scared that I couldn't sit still...so almost done turned into a lot longer than that! She finally finished and wrapped me in a towel and took me downstairs to have her daddy help her dry me off. She tried to give me a treat to calm me down...but I was too upset. So I just walked off and started drying myself off. It was awhile before I started to feel better and would take a treat. I really do not like taking bathes! They are too scary. I hope my Mommy never makes me take another one again! I try to convince her that I can clean myself...but she just doesn't listen! I have had such a rough day and am so exhausted now! I am definitely getting some good sleep tonight!

Yesterday, I learned that I do NOT like NyQuil! I always love smelling anything that my mommy or her daddy are eating or drinking (they are the only ones who will let me take a smell of their food and drinks if I ask). But my mommy's daddy was taking NyQuil yesterday for his cold and so when I walked up to him he let me smell the bottle. YUCK!!!! :-P It was so nasty! It made my mommy's daddy laugh though and he showed her and then they showed her mommy later. They said I made a funny face, like how a kid would make a face after eating something they don't like. I didn't think it was very funny, though. I kept hoping that the next time I smelled it that it would smell better....but EW. So, to anybody reading this: If you see one of your family members with NyQuil...do not try to smell it! I don't know why anyone would drink it anyway. Do they not realize how bad it smells?!? YUCKY!!! :-P
