My So-called Nine Lives

Hissing mad!

Yesterday I was at the window looking outside, and I saw a neighbor cat outside in a big cage. My Grandmom was talking to the neighbor cat's person, who said that the cat and the dog had fleas and she had given them flea treatment. The person didn't want to take her cat to the vet for a flea dip, and when Grandmom suggested she get a flea comb to use after the treatment, the person said "Do you know what that costs?" Imagine, someone not wanting to buy a flea comb because it cost too much! Not someone who doesn't have six dollars, but someone who doesn't love their cat enough to spend six dollars!

The worst is though, the person wants to get rid of her cat because they have a dog now and they say the cat stays in the basement all the time. I know Mommy said she watched their cat once when they were on vacation, and the cat was down the basement and there was no dog! The neighbor cat is older, and they are okay with just giving her away like she was a shoe that didn't fit! Would she give away one of her kids? Mommy can't take in another cat right now. Someone will take her, and I sure hope that whoever does will appreciate how special she is!

Some people really don't deserve to have any cats! Or dogs either! Shame on them!

Join you in hissing at your neighbor. I can't stand how some people think pets are so disposable. I hope the cat will find a family that will treat her better!!

Some people really shouldn't have pets or kids!

Mom saw a graphic on I Can Has Cheezburger? that said:

I AM A FOREVER CAT
not an "until" cat.

I am not an...
..."until you get bored" cat.
..."until you find a boy or girlfriend" cat.
..."until I get old" cat.
..."until you have to move" cat.
..."until you have a baby" cat.
..."until you get a new kitten" cat.

I AM A FOREVER CAT

If you cannot promise forever, I am not your cat.

That's a wonderful quote, Tigger! You're both so right, no one should have a cat live with them unless they are willing and able to make a commitment to care for them. It just breaks my heart to know that not every cat is loved and appreciated.

It breaks my heart too. Mom has a special place in her heart for abandoned senior kitties. She wants to cry when she sees senior kitties dumped at shelters because they are no longer wanted after they have given years of love and devotion to their owners. :(

I have been with my mom and dad since I was 10 days old and I am soon to be 20 years old. Caring for me through all the phases of my life has been part of the commitment my pawrents made to me (and my geriatric fursiblings who have since crossed the Bridge.)

My uncle Tiny and aunt Beauty were ferals. Aunt Beauty was 17 when she crossed rhe bridge. Uncle Tiny has his thyrpoid problem and his allergies, and he doesn' t run as fast as he used to, but mommy loves him just as much as ever. Aunt Beauty, too! Geriatric cats deserve plenty of hugs for all the years of lovre and devotion they have given. They are to be honored.

Your ,ommy is obviously devoted to you, Tigger! And I know you are glad that you got to grow up witj a family. I know I am!

Yes, Mom and Dad are very devoted to me and to my brofur and two sisfurs. I have CRF and I am on a schedule of sub-q fluid three times a week, and I take medicines nightly. I also have high blood pressure related to my CRF. I am still kicking it though! :)

My brofur Marmelade and sisfur Midge are formerly feral. They came into our house, two hissing and spitting twelve week old kittens, and ended up a sweet duo. They are now four years old.

Pippin was diagnosed with FeLV at six weeks of age after Mom and Dad picked her out of a litter of rescue kittens. It ends up she didn't have FeLV, thank goodness! She is now six years old.

We just lost fourteen year old Bob to lymphoma on June 24th. :(

Thank you Tiger. It was so sudden...Mom and Dad had no time to emotionally prepare for Bob's crossing. I am sure Beauty and Bob are playing at the Bridge! :)
