I received another giftee from Anonymous the other day! Anonymous has been thinking of me and has sent me love and is wondering how my vet visit went :)
Tasha & I went for our yearly vet appointment on 10-March. We go to a kitties only vet, and mom always requests that we see Dr. Lund. When we were little and in foster care, we saw a lot of vets and mom has explained our issues over and over, she just feels that for the one or two vet visits we make per year, it is nice to see the same vet who knows us. Well Dr. Lund changed her schedule after our appointment was made and we ended up seeing a different vet.
The new vet inspected my teeth. I have been letting mommy brush my teeth every day since I had them cleaned last year. Mommy has apparently been missing my bottom teeth~ my gums are a bit red on the bottom only. The new vet said that my teeth looked good and that I would not need a dental this year~ yay! And even though Tasha won't let mommy brush her teeth, she did not need a dental either.
I weighed 8.12 and Tasha weighed 9.10~ good weights for both of us!
I still have asthma attacks once in a while. Mommy asked the vet if they had a lot of patients that use inhalers for their asthma and the vet said that they do. The vet does not feel that my attacks warrant daily treatment with an inhaler at this time; mommy just wanted to be sure they were open to that idea. Mommy is gonna keep monitoring me and writing down the details of my attacks.
While Daddy was talking to the vet about my asthma, mommy noticed the vet was getting 2 syringes ready for me. Mommy had to interrupt and ask what they were. We were only due for our rabies shot this year, not the 3 in 1 shot: we had that last year. The vet told mommy that they were giving everyone the 3 in 1 shot this year even if they had it last year. This made no sense to mommy because the shot is good for 3 years (probably more). Mommy told the vet that she did not want us to have the shot, and the vet said that was fine. Mommy was not happy that they tried to give us that shot! I'm lucky mommy was payin attention!
Overall it was a good visit. Last year they had to use large heavy gloves to handle Tasha and this year she sat very still and was a good girl. I'm always a good boy!
Good boy, TT! Tasha sounds like a little stinker, good she was quiet this year. Angel RA would love the story about the large heavy gloves as they use to have to put a blanket over her when she was young to give her the shots. They could never really look at her. MOL!
Good job on your Mommy brushing your teethes. Tonite we start. Mommy wanted to give us the weekend off because we were exhausted from the Vet visit. Great job by your Mommy on both your weights. You are in good shape!
Another booster?? What was that all about? Why if they gave one last year, would they try to give another this year. Did they think last years boosters weren't good or something? And your Mommy is right, these boosters might even last more than 3 years, they have no idea. GOOD your Mommy was really paying attention and they didn't slip that extra shot in!!
Hoping you don't have to visit the Vet again for a year. Wishing you a very healthy year ahead!
Tasha put on quite a show last year, RA would have been proud! Everyone was happy that she decided not to do that this year~ she was "wormy", but not too difficult!
You will have to let us know how your tooth brushing goes!
We are not sure what the whole thing with the booster was about. Mommy has become more educated in the past few years on this stuff~ she used to rely on the vet to know what they were doing. It is obviously not safe to do that. The vet offered no reason for the extra shot and had to agree with mommy that we were not due.
Healthy wishes to the Z & Z in the year ahead!
Whoa! We certainly don't like to hear this TT! This extra shot without telling you thing. Thank god your mommy is smart and told him NO! I wish your mommy had pressed him about why he was doing that. This is something I think my momma will mention in her next newsletter if that's okay with you guys! We want to make sure everyone always knows specifically what their vets are doing and WHY.
Tasha & TT,

Lubbs & purrs,
Kally Kat ;) ♥♥
Oh man! It's beyond awesome-pawsome that your Mom knows when and what vaccinations you're due for. That is sooooo uncool
(that should be capital U capital C ~ uncool) that your vet tried to double/triple dose you just to make their record keeping easier.
Bless the stars tonight and all your Angel Guardian friends that you have such an awesome Meowmie !
I'm super glad that your teeth looked good and I know you'll get those bottom gums into shape.
I'm so happy to hear that your Asthma is so mild. Little scary though to read that your sisfur is heavier than you are. DON'T let her dominate your playtime or take your toys. (Although... those are great weights for the both of you!)
Hi Lacey~ Mommy did not feel a need to press any further; there was no good reason that the vet could have given. They probably want most clients to be vaccinated on the same 3 year schedule for their own convenience. From the look on the vet's face, not many people question it, mol! You can mention it in your newsletter :)
Hi Miss Kally!! I hope you are feelin good!! Yes we are still taking our l-lysine~ every day!! YUMMMY!
MOL Nuk!! It IS scary that Tasha is heavier than me!! Not only does she hog all the playtime, but she has taken my nap spot away now too! What is a skinny little asthmatic boy to do??
We're all so furry glad everything went so well! And kudos to mom on the S-H-O-T-S!!!!
Like everyone else said, your mom did a really good job catching that extra shot. It's a little scary and too bad that you can't just trust everything the vet does. I hope they give the shots in your lower legs - a safer area for vaccines. Your mom is doing great with your toothie brushing. Mom is going to start with my sisfur, but I don't have many teethies left to brush.
Good weights for both of you. I didn't realize you were a smaller 8 pound guy like me. I thought you were long and lanky and probably weighed more. Sounds like your mom is taking very good care of you. Glad to hear you're doing okay with your asthma situation.
Yes Gumpy~ shots in the rear please!! I am long and lanky~ mom would like to see me in the 9 pound range. I hope Nadi is doing okay with her asthma~ keep us posted okay?
