The season of celebrations is upon us for 2008 and I wanted to meow that we need to count our blessings rather than focus on hard times. Yes our economy is in a downturn..... a serious one, but it will bounce back in time. We must ban together and take care of each other as we have in the past and it will pass and we will all be alright.

To all my furiends and their hoomans, may you be blessed and bless others! If efur you need me, just meow and I will be beside you in an instant.

Please enjoy the Holidays by loving each other and spending time together.

The Rescuer

Rainbow Bridge Rescuer

Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All of the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before. But, the animals who had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway leading to The Rainbow Bridge to watch.

It wasn't long before an elderly animal came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the ones who had been there for while, knew what his story was right away, for they had seen this happen far too often. He approached slowly, obviously in great emotional pain, but with no sign of injury or illness. Unlike all of the other animals waiting at The Bridge, this animal had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again. As he walked toward The Rainbow Bridge, he watched all of the other animals watching him. He knew he was out of place here and the sooner he could cross over, the happier he would be. But alas, as he approached The Bridge, his way was barred by the appearance of an Angel who apologized, but told him that he would not be able to pass. Only those animals who were with their people could pass over The Rainbow Bridge.

With no place else to turn to, the elderly animal turned towards the fields before The Bridge and saw a group of other animals like himself, also elderly and infirm. They weren't playing, but rather simply lying on the green grass, forlornly staring out at the pathway leading to The Bridge. And so, he took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting.

One of the newest arrivals at The Bridge didn't understand what he had just witnessed and asked one of the animals that had been there for a while to explain it to him.

"You see, that poor animal was a rescue. He was turned in to rescue just as you see him now, an older animal with his fur graying and his eyes clouding. He never made it out of rescue and passed on with only the love of his rescuer to comfort him as he left his earthly existence. Because he had no family to give his love to, he has no one to escort him across The Bridge."

The first animal thought about this for a minute and then asked, "So what will happen now?" As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted and the gloom lifted. Approaching The Bridge could be seen a single person and among the older animals, a whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light and they were all young and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of life. "Watch, and see", said the second animal. A second group of animals from those waiting came to the pathway and bowed low as the person neared. At each bowed head, the person offered a pat on the head or a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell into line and followed him towards The Bridge. They all crossed The Bridge together.

"What happened?" asked the first animal. "That was a rescuer." replied the second. "The animals you saw bowing in respect were those who found new homes because of his work. They will cross when their new families arrive. Those you saw restored were those who never found homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed to perform one, final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort those poor animals that they couldn't
place on earth, across The Rainbow Bridge.

I am such a blessed Kitty this holiday season. Not only did my beautiful Katrine marry me on November 11, 2007, but today, we have become adoptive pawrents to the cutiest little boy kitty you could ever imagine. His name is Bailey and we welcome him into our furmily with open paws.

This holiday season is going to be purrrrfect! We are decorating our house and making it a place where little Bailey can enjoy himself and play with his furiends. Yes, this old plantation will be warmed by the pitter patter of kitten paws.

We are truly blessed kitties to have such a loving furmily.

The Reasons I am a Thankful Kitty

I have a lot of things to be Thankful for. The first thing I am thankful for is that wandered into the yard of my meomy's furiend in Colorado Springs. I has hungry, scared and very alone. I had been lost for quite a while because I was skinny, with sore feet, matted fur and was covered in motor oil from hiding underneath cars all the time.

Meomy took one look at me and said "I want that kitty!" Daddy told her "You don't want that poor, ugly thing." But meomy insisted that she did want me and would not give up until daddy gave in. That was the day that I was a blessed kitty.

The vet told meomy the next day that I would probably have not survived out there for much longer. They shaved my beautiful but horribly matted fur. I was not please about that, but it grew back and meomy told me all the time how beautiful I was.

They gave me 9 good years to live in the lap of luxery. I had anything a kitty could want..... good food..... a warm home ...... and lots of love. Meomy has never forgiven herself for going on vacation and not knowing that I was sick. When she got home, I was gone. Daddy was really upset that he couldn't help me. I forgive them both because I know they loved me. That is why I found Simon and Champion Smudge to go and live in their house and give them the kitty love that I gave them.

Yep, I am thankful for my furefur home, my furefur pawrents, and now my beautiful bride, Katrine, who married me yesterday at Rainbow Bridge. I am truly a blessed kitty.

My Special Surprise for Rennie

I took a trip toNew York City with a my buddies Albert, Ginger, Sparky, & Pink. I bought her engagement ring from a shop in the New York City diamond exchange district on West 47th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. We did it online because I just could not wait to ask her to be my furever mate, but I was thinking that this trip with my buddies would be a really romatic way to select her wedding band. I want it to be perfect.

I have told my lady, the sweet Katrine that I was going on a business trip (and it is a very special business trip indeed. My pals and I are going to do some site seeing and just hang out like guys do while we are there, but the main reason for this trip is to design the absolute most perfect wedding band for my soon to be wife. I just hate lying to her, but when I return with my treasure, I feel sure she will understand. In fact, she will be ecstatic with with my romantic efforts. Here's why the NYC idea makes sense:

1. I can wheel and deal with the diamond exchange merchants using the price points and education I have gained gained from Blue Nile. The merchants are used to bargaining and they will come down in price when they realize that I am serious about the purchase. The process of bargaining alone can be a lot of fun and rather hilarious at times. It certainly beats the heck out of talking to an old boring salesperson at the local jeweler.

2. There are an abundance of shops and a plethora of ring choices which guarantees that I am going to find something we will really like at the price I want to spend. Matching the band to her engagement settings can actually be pretty interesting, and I will know exactly what I am getting for my love.

3. The ring I build in NYC won't be sitting in the case at the local jewelry store either. The ring will be unique, and all her female family members and friends will notice it as such. Not to mention, she will love the fact that I went to such great lengths to customize her ring.

And look around, we're in New York City! Picking out the wedding ring will take a total of a few hours of bargaining over the course two days. The remainder of the time is a "vacation with the boys" in one of the coolest cities in the world.

It will be the only vacation I ever take with my male counterparts that can be flipped around and told as a romantic story to loved ones. And when I really think about it, it is actually totally romantic. I ventured out on a lengthy voyage to pick out the perfect wedding ring for the girl cat that I love.

Once I have revealed to my beloved the great journey that I embarked on in order to build the precious ring she has already fallen in love with, I am sure she will forgive me for not telling her the real purpose of my 'business' trip to NYC. If she is at all upset, I will take her on a romantic weekend getaway to the city and and we will do some fun things together. It will be fun for the both of us and the trip will double as a vacation.

I strongly recommend this wedding ring purchasing process to every "groom to be" that is about to embark on the journey of marriage. I know it sounds a little pricey, but just remember that even though you will be dropping extra cash on travel arrangements, you will be getting way more ring for your money. The diamond merchants will even FedEX the rings to you via insured air shipping which allows you to avoid paying sales tax on your purchase. (F.Y.I. - I found the engagement ring I liked at Allure Diamond, which is where I ended up making my purchases.) So if you are about to marry the love of your like take my lead and do this special thing for her too.

No shhhhhh, don't spoil my surprise.

Purrrrrrrrrr,
Gizmo

My Poem to Rennie

Sweetest girl I've ever known
It's nice to know I'm not alone
You make me smile with just a touch.
I'll alway love you oh so much.

I love the way you look at me
You are the only one I see
When evening comes I wait for you
To care for me the way you do.

We spend our time and how it flies
In loves embrace here in the skies
No one could ever take your place
For I can only see your face.

Together we will always be
Cause I'm for you and you're for me.

Your furever mate,
Gizmo

I am rolling in Catnip because the beautiful Katrine has consented to be my Valentine. She is just the sweetest and loveliest girl kitty I have ever known. We are spending our evenings purring together and grooming each other and we are just about as happy as two kits can be. I think we make a wonderful couple and I can't quit jumping with joy!!

My "Replacement" is Coming!

Not really, cause we can never be replaced. But I found a sweet boy that needs my mommie's love and I know she needs his. I went to the bridge a long time ago so it is time for kitty power in our house again. Camden is coming all the way from West Virginia to Colorado to take care of my mommie. She sure deserves it too. Hurry Camden! Hurry! Before it starts snowing again, get on that plane!

Don't get me wrong though, Mommie adores the doggie fur-babies. There was just something missing..........and that would be a kitty.

Purrrrs,
Gizmo

To My Humans,
I know you miss me and I miss you too. I wish that I could lie back in your arms again and pet your cheek like I used to do, but I think of you just like you do me and I hope someday another special kitty comes to take care of you for me.

Love,
Gizmo
