Sofie's Squeaks

I'm a Dream!

December 20th 2008 12:15 pm   [link to this entry]

Mom heard Dad mumble something about "Pebbles and Sofie Little" last night while he was sleeping, so this morning she told him about it. He said that was probably because yesterday he scolded Pebbles for chasing me.

About the only time I like being close to the others is when we're outside in the backyard or during meals. I rub against them and they don't chase me during those times. Other than that, I scream really loud even when they "look" like they want to chase me, including that Pixie, who probably weighs more than I do now!

It's nice to be protected, even in a dream!

Rub-a-dub-dub, Sofie in the tub!

December 12th 2008 5:49 pm   [link to this entry]

I was found sleeping in the tub! There was no water in it but there was a nice towel draped over the edge and into the tub that made it quite cozy.

No other cats bugged me because they weren't clever enough to go looking for me there. Yes, they bug me sometimes when I don't want to play their silly games.

Dad always makes a remark that he wishes I had a special friend in the house, but he doesn't need to worry too much because I'm really good at screaming and hitting when I need to!

Chicken Lips!

November 22nd 2008 7:08 pm   [link to this entry]

I did a good job of meowing at Dad today from the cat tree every time he walked by. He finally understood that we were out of chicken, so he went to the grocery store to buy some and did all the grocery shopping while he was there. He's even cooking it for us right now. Nice Dad!

Dad said I had chicken lips and a bottomless chicken pit! I don't know about the chicken lips but my chicken pit is definitely bottomless.

Lately my name has been Sofie Chicken. That's what it sounds like when I'm upstairs and they're calling for me to come down for chicken.

Sofie! Chicken!

I'm a Shy Daredevil!

November 14th 2008 6:53 pm   [link to this entry]

I'm a finalist in the World's Coolest Cat Show in the Daredevil category, along with my sister Pixie! We're really happy to see many of our friends as finalists, especially my good pal, "Harry Potter" Tinker, whose badge is on my page!

A friend sent me a pawmail when he saw my photo in the contest and made a comment that he was really surprised that I would do that, being the shy kitty I am. I may be shy but I know how to run, jump, and climb!

Thanks for the votes and good luck to all the finalists!

Hiding Spots!

October 19th 2008 2:59 pm   [link to this entry]

Mom spent most of yesterday with Grandma and didn't get home until the early evening. Even though Dad told her he saw me at dinner time, Mom could not find me before she went to bed. She wasn't worried as to whether or not I had gotten outside but that I was okay.

All my usual hiding spots were checked and I heard my name being called but I decided to just ignore it! I wanted to see how long it would take them to find me. About 15 minutes later, Dad got smart and looked under the back of a recliner chair that they've never seen me go under and found me! I just batted my eyes at Mom when she came to see for herself.

I'm going to try for 30 minutes next time.

Scrambled Eggs for Breakfast!

October 4th 2008 3:37 pm   [link to this entry]

It rained a little this morning and I had scrambled eggs for breakfast! It was cool that Dad dropped some on the floor while he was having breakfast so I wouldn't have to jump up on the chair and wait for some. I was hoping he'd drop some bacon on the floor but it never happened.

Why can't we have a smorgasbord, full of a variety of food? I could eat all I want and never gain an ounce!

Sit Up and Deliver!

September 3rd 2008 5:10 pm   [link to this entry]

My Fall picture is probably only the second time that I ever sat up for a special occasion photo session. First, I am very camera-flash-sensitive, and if there's not enough light, our non-flash pictures don't come out very well.

It's rare that Mom will have trouble getting us to look up because there is a window behind her which intrigues us, but she used a toy to get me to look up this time and instead I sat up, for all of three seconds! Not only that, this is one of the few times she actually used the camera flash for our photos.

Today, I did so good for my Halloween photo and next to Joy, I finished very quickly, but don't think I sat up this time! Most of the time, it's all Mom's fault if we take a little longer because she doesn't have the camera adjusted right!

A Drawer of Surprise!

August 28th 2008 4:23 pm   [link to this entry]

I was watching Mom empty out the Litter-Robots the other day from my perch in the guest bedroom. When she pulled out the waste drawer to the third one, she not only saw the usual stuff, she saw something colorful...a furry purple toy mouse!

I didn't do it. I know better than to do something tacky like bring a toy mouse with me to the litter box and then forget I left it in there. Who wants to do their business next to a mouse anyway? Eeeek!

Sandwich!

July 12th 2008 4:27 pm   [link to this entry]

I didn't get any hot dog today like I mentioned in my last diary entry, nor did I get to eat a sandwich. I *became* a sandwich last night!

Mom saw Riley on top of the sofa bed in the corner against the wall looking down towards the floor. She had a hunch and went to take a look and there I was, sandwiched between the side of the sofa and the wall! I looked up at mom with my pretty green eyes. Pixie would be the only other kitty who could fit in that narrow space.

Riley just batted his innocent eyes at Mom and got a quick lecture, even though there was no proof that he chased me into that spot. Mom started to help me get out but then I came out by myself, so I wasn't really trapped at all!

Mercy wrote that we're getting rid of that sofa bed next week. It's one of the places I take naps on but it'll be fine. I've got lots of other hidey-holes!

Hot Dog!

July 3rd 2008 1:08 pm   [link to this entry]

We do have a couple of big giant dogs in our family, but they don't smell as good as the hot dog that Mom just ate!

For a small adult cat like me, I sure am food driven. I came out from under the couch in the living room just because I could smell the hot dog that Mom was eating and sat right next to her on the couch because I wanted some. I got a piece about 1/8" wide and that really wasn't enough for me but it's all I got.

So, while I just knew I was going to get a new sister, I've only seen her once when Mom brought her upstairs to meet me while I was lounging on a cat condo. I wasn't afraid and just wanted to smell the "area under her tail" and that was it. I've never been shy towards other cats, just people.

My Dad sure knows how to try to make people believe that it was Mom's idea to bring a new member into our family.

Are 9 Cats and 2 Dogs Enough?

June 21st 2008 8:32 pm   [link to this entry]

Dad went to the pet store today to buy more canned food for us. As soon as he came home I overheard this conversation:

DAD: It's a good thing you didn't go because they had alot of kittens there today.

MOM: Really? I want to go see!

DAD: Well, you can go see and give them a donation or something but you can't bring anymore cats home.

I've heard "that" before. And yeah, Dad, give Mom a reason to go see the kittens. Why didn't you give them a donation?

MOM: Like how many were there? What did they look like?

DAD: There were alot, probably a dozen or so. Different kinds, with long and short hair.

MOM: Maybe I'll go see. No, maybe not.

DAD: Yeah, you probably shouldn't.

Mom spent the next hour talking herself out of going and she didn't. Why did Dad tell Mom anyway when he knows that she knows that the rescue place is there every Saturday? They're in a separate room at the pet store and he could have easily shopped for our food without stopping to look at them himself, and he also stopped to look at the dogs that were available for adoption.

Well, we know all those kitties and doggies are currently safe in their foster homes.

Boo-Boo on My Nose Again!

June 8th 2008 7:42 pm   [link to this entry]

The last time I wrote about a mysterious boo-boo on my nose was in January. Now I have another one!

Sometimes when I want to be alone, I crawl under the dresser. I am the only one who can fit under there. Enzo has started to lay down on his side and swat at me while I'm under there, otherwise, he never does that when I am out and about. That's how Mom thinks I got a boo-boo on my nose.

I have an idea, we'll send Enzo back to the house a few doors away where he was born! No, I don't think Mom will like that. I think he's just jealous that he can't fit under the dresser and also because he likes to wrestle with the girls in the family, and I don't wrestle!

I wonder if this will excuse me from the next photo session that Mom has planned for us. Probably not. She'll just have to hire a good make-up artist.

Paws, Purrs, and Chicken!

May 11th 2008 12:55 pm   [link to this entry]

I'm still sleeping with Mom at night, but for the first time while I was under her arm, I stretched my paws out and tapped her on the face and smelled her.
Since this is the only time she can get really close to me, she loves hearing my purr, which she never gets to hear otherwise. I even let her move me around while I'm there if she needs to.

Mom wishes she could hold me more during the day, because it would sure make it easier for her when I have to go see the vet. But, she may have to wait another year before I'll let her do that easily.

We haven't had boiled chicken breast for months because of the treats we've been getting, but today Dad announced that he was boiling chicken! That's much better than the treats!

It's My Birthday and I'll Scream if I Want to!

May 1st 2008 7:51 pm   [link to this entry]

This morning I was upstairs with my Dad and let out a blood-curdling scream! Mom was downstairs. Dad told Mom that all my brother Reebok did was look at me like he wanted to pounce on me and I screamed. You would scream too, if you only weighed 7lbs and you had a brother that weighs 20+ pounds who looked like he wanted to pounce on you.

Dad made Reebok leave the room. It pays to be small and shy because you always get protected and can never do wrong. That's how Mom and Dad treat me, anyway. Besides, it's my birthday, and I think I'm allowed to be a Drama Queen today, or every day for that matter!

Thank you to all of my friends who celebrated my 4th birthday with me today! Our family has great friends, and each of them are special to us.

I also want to mention *TINKER*, who added a primary picture of him on his page dressed up for my birthday!! Thanks Tink!

Happy May 1st Birthdays!

April 26th 2008 4:55 pm   [link to this entry]

I almost escaped celebrating my 4th birthday on Catster this year. Mom was not planning to making a birthday page for me, and she definitely wasn't going to try to put a hat or anything else on me for that matter. She just felt I should be left alone and I couldn't have agreed more, but this morning she decided to try taking pictures of me without wearing anything and thought I took a nice picture so she put a birthday page together for me.

So... now I'll be shyly celebrating my 4th birthday on May 1st, along with COUSIN HAZEL LUCY, who will be 11. She's like the celebrity Angelina Jolie. I'm not taking the celebrity test because you can't be a shy celebrity, so I'm sure there's no match for me.

Our good friend KASHMERE is also celebrating her 7th birthday on May 1st. Her family knows how to party, so I know it's going to be fun at her house!

Happy Birthday to all May 1st kitties!

Silly Sofie

March 7th 2008 10:59 pm   [link to this entry]

Mom is calling me Silly Sofie now. I have been sleeping in the guest bedroom on the sofa bed in the early evenings until I see Mom walking by on the way to the master bedroom. She stops at the door to the guest bedroom and says "Come on, Sofie" and I stand up, stretch, and with my eyes half closed, jump off the sofa bed and trot to the master bedroom. I wait for her to get in the bed and then I jump up and sleep on her right side just like I've been doing for about a month, and stay there all night. This is about the only time she can really hear my purr!

During the day, I am back to being shy! Oh, I come around to eat, go out in the yard with the others, and rub against Mom's or Dad's legs to tease them, but if they look like they're coming to pet me or pick me up, I run, unless they're eating something good like steak!

Purrs,

The Next Best Thing

February 18th 2008 7:52 pm   [link to this entry]

I've been sleeping next to Mom on her right side, and right side only, every night since I wrote my last diary entry on the 13th! That side is usually claimed by Reebok, but he's been good about letting me have his usual spot and sleeping at the foot of the bed instead. When some of the others jump on the bed, they always look at me real funny.

Mom believes I would not be sleeping with her if Milo were around and she is probably right. Guess she's the next best thing.

Bedtime Stories Part III

February 13th 2008 10:42 am   [link to this entry]

I slept next to Mom all night last night! It only took me three years to try it and it wasn't as bad as I thought! I started under her right arm and she made sure none of the others were going to push me out of my spot. When I stood up a few times to change positions and then curled right back up next to her, she had a good feeling I was staying. Sure enough, when she woke up this morning I was still there. But then I knew it was time to get up and have breakfast so I jumped off the bed.

I have to decide whether I'll sleep with Mom regularly or not. I don't want her to think she can start picking me up and carrying me around the house. I may not be ready for that until next year!

Oh, and we received a surprise package yesterday from TINKER and family for Valentine's Day! There were all kinds of toys, cards for each of us, and even stuff to wear! Mom will try to take some pictures of everything today. Thanks, Tink!

Bedtime Stories Part II

January 14th 2008 11:10 am   [link to this entry]

I surprised Mom again last night. We have a rectangular bed on the couch in the family room that is like a pad. It was put there for us kitties to hang out on while Mom and/or Dad are watching TV. Mercy and Pebbles love to knead on that bed together!

When Milo was here, he used to hang out on that bed and I would curl up really close to him and take naps. Mom was watching TV last night and I jumped up on the bed and starting rubbing up against her and staring at her, so of course she started talking to me and petting me. Before she knew it, I plopped down next to her and started kneading her and the bed and fell asleep against her. Mom cannot remember the last time she ever saw me kneading anything or anybody, let alone sleep against her. She was frozen for the next hour or so until she had to get up! By then, Mercy and Pebbles were on the bed so I sandwiched myself between them.

This may not sound like a big deal to most kitties, but it is a big deal for me. While I rub against my brothers and sisters and Mom's and Dad's legs, I typically sleep alone these days. I do play and it's not that I hide in the house; I am just somewhat skittish, so sometimes it takes months to a year for me to exhibit a new positive behavior. Patience! Always a good thing when it comes to me.

Bedtime Stories

January 13th 2008 5:47 pm   [link to this entry]

While most of you enjoy the luxury of sleeping with your humans at night, I have never done so, until last night. Dad was already snoring away and shortly after Mom crawled into bed, I hopped onto the bed too. Mercy, Melody, and Reebok were also there so they, along with Mom, looked at me like I was a foreigner, in darkness. Even in the dark, Mom could see the tabby patch I have over my right eye. She was so shocked she didn't want to move nor did she want the others to move for fear I would jump off the bed. She wanted me to be comfortable. There I stayed all night.

Those of you who know our family are probably thinking it has to do with the relationship I had with my brother Milo, who is no longer here, and Mom and Dad do think that is reason I was on their bed. They'd want nothing more than for me to continue joining them in bed, as long as it makes me happy.

It's Sunday, and I *know* it's Sunday. It's the day my Dad has steak for dinner. I can smell it and that means I get to hop on the chair next to him while he shares a bit of his steak with me.

Starting Off the New Year with a Boo-Boo

January 1st 2008 11:12 am   [link to this entry]

Mom looked at me funny this morning. She thought I had some dirt or food stuck under one side of my nose but when she took a closer look she realized it was a scab! Who did it? I must've forgiven them by now.

What an embarassing way to start off the New Year. I deserve extra chicken today.

My Annual Physical Exam!

December 15th 2007 4:10 pm   [link to this entry]

I was supposed to have my annual checkup a week ago along with my sister Mercy, but when it came time to get me I ran under the bed! There was not enough time to coax me out from under the bed, so lucky Pebbles got to go in my place. Unfortunately, my appointment was rescheduled for today, and I was "captured" in a very interesting way in order to get me into the carrier.

Earlier this morning, Mom saw that I was sleeping in Riley's Fish Bed upstairs and thought that was good as long as I stayed there. When it came time to get me for my appointment, she was glad I was still in the bed. She slowly grabbed the "lips" of the bed and held them shut, and carried me in the bed all the way down the stairs to the car in the garage where the carrier was and gently "emptied" me into it! I never do more than squeak at any given time but I started crying. Because I am such a shy kitty, Mom really does not like to use such methods in order to get me but I had to go and she knew if I was given the opportunity I would have squirmed and jumped out of the bed or out of her arms.

I got what they call a Junior Wellness exam. They told me I had pretty green eyes so that made me feel just a little better! I gained one whole pound, so now I'm a little over 7lbs. I was fairly quiet during my exam but stayed as close to Mom as possible. Then when the vet started looking in my mouth, she showed Mom where my gums had some redness to them and recommended a dental cleaning. So, I got whisked away to the back room to have some blood drawn. After we get those results back, I'll have three months to ponder over the dental cleaning.

I'm glad to be back home now! And, I am out and about and got some chicken!

New Habit

November 26th 2007 6:09 pm   [link to this entry]

My brother Milo used to be the only kitty in the house I would seek to cuddle with for a nap. If others joined us that was fine with me too. I guess I never forgot how comforting he was when I first joined the family and although I also cuddled with Mercy, I spent more time chasing her around the house and up the cat tree.

Now that Milo isn't here, Mom and Dad were a bit worried about me but I've been fine. I actually started a new habit which I *never* did while Milo was alive. I've always eaten my regular meals alongside the others but in the past when we would get "treats", everyone would jump up on the dining table except me. I would climb to the top of the cat tree nearby. That may sound like a "no-no" but that is how it works around here with dogs around. The dining table even has a couple of cat beds on it! It's not used for human dining at all anymore. Anyway, now I jump up on the dining table with the others and eat my treats with them. It's a good sign that all is well with me but I tend to sleep alone although it's not because I would mind having company. That's just how it is.

A little bit about the holiday cape and hat the girls are wearing this year. Mom found the cape online somewhere last year after Christmas and saved it. Our hat is from an outfit two years ago that we wore that matched perfectly. It just had to be turned around since there's a blue bow on it. It was comfy so I didn't mind wearing it, but only for photos!

Remembering Milo

November 2nd 2007 10:14 pm   [link to this entry]

I don't know what I would have done without Milo beginning three years ago when I first came to live here. I was tiny for my age and very skittish. Mom had bought a special pink bed just for me and that's where she put me when Diane, the lady who rescued me, brought me here. I closed my eyes and flinched anytime anyone tried to pet me. At the time, there was only Mercy and Milo, in addition to our dogs. When Mercy first saw me, she hissed and ran away. Then I got to meet Milo, who walked over to me in my pink bed, took a couple of sniffs, and started cleaning my face. That's when I knew everything was going to be okay. Shortly after, Mercy got use to the idea that I was going to be part of the family and I spent alot of time playing with both of them. But the majority of the time and up until recently, I would be found napping with Milo. I always felt safe and loved by gentle Milo.

Mom always said to Dad that she didn't know what I would do without Milo, and now he's gone. When Milo went to heaven yesterday, Mom made sure I got to say goodbye to him, and I did. She was worried about me, but yesterday when both Mom and Dad were sitting down I kept walking back and forth on their laps for them to pet me. They were relieved that I didn't go into hiding and I've been eating my meals and my favorite treat, boiled chicken breast.

Even though we have alot of kitty beds all over the house, Milo's favorite bed to sleep at night was a round cuddler type bed that is in Mom and Dad's bedroom and I would often sleep with him in it as well. This morning, Mom woke up to find me sleeping in the bed by myself. There was an empty spot in the bed, but she's sure it still smells like Milo.

I'm thankful that Milo gave me all the love and reassurance he did the three years I've been in this family which helped bring me out of my shell. I know that he knew how much I loved him and he knew nothing else but to love me back.

Be a Clown, be a Clown, be a Clown!

October 16th 2007 1:20 am   [link to this entry]

Who would've thought I'd be a clown for Halloween! Joy, who is dressed as Snow White, explained in her diary that she was supposed to be the Clown and I was supposed to be Snow White. Mom messed up when she agreed to let them send the Clown outfit in a smaller size, but it all worked out because the Snow White outfit would have actually been too big for me. So, here I am, a little Clown!

Happy Birthday to Tinker on Sunday, September 9th

September 8th 2007 12:58 am   [link to this entry]

This Sunday is going to be TINKER's Birthday! Can you imagine the confusion it would cause if we put Tinker and his brother Toy in the same room as my brothers Riley, Reebok, and Nike? Tinker is always calling me his girl but everyone knows we don't date, though he sure is cute! *blushes*

His little orangie brother Tang also turned ONE yesterday, so there's a BIG party going on over there!!! Not only that, they have a brand new little brother named Tyco! We sent Tinker and Tang presents and are happy to see they're enjoying them.

Happy Birthday Tink and Tang!

I'm excited that my best friend BOOTSIE is celebrating her 2nd Birthday tomorrow! She's going to be TERRIFIC TWO!! She loves chicken and steak just like I do. I still remember when she was just a kitten when I first met her, but she's sure grown into a gorgeous fluffy girl. Have a fabulous day Bootsie!

Thank you to Mr. or Ms. Anonymous for giving me a Star on August 12th. I sure wish I knew who you were!

Dirty Girl

July 4th 2007 5:09 pm   [link to this entry]

I've always been described as the petite and shy one in the family, and while that may be true, I have a confession to make. I'm a dirty girl! When we go out in the backyard, I look for any dirt that's on the patio, usually from when our naughty dogs have been digging, and roll in it. I come up with dirt all over me, and it's especially noticeable on the left side of my face where my fur is all white. Not only that, I do the same thing on the mats that sit outside of the litter boxes. Mom says it's a good thing I don't roll around inside the litter boxes! Okay, so I'm not purrfect, maybe just purrfectly dirty!

My Dad

June 11th 2007 10:53 pm   [link to this entry]

Mom used to be the only one that boiled chicken breast for us every weekend, but now Dad even goes and buys it and boils it for us, especially me, since I LOVE chicken, and steak too!

Dad is also good for sharing his lunch meat with me when he's eating a sandwich. I'm his "Sofie Little" and the only one that sits on his lap for it. I've said this before, but he gets the biggest kick out of it when I'm on his lap because I am such a shy kitty, so it means alot to him. So much that he has to call my Mom to come take a look every time!

My Dad is a great guy and I love him. Happy Father's Day, Dad!

My Present from Tinker!

May 6th 2007 6:59 pm   [link to this entry]

We had so much going on this week at our house that it wasn't until last night that Mom helped me open my box from Tinker!! In the box was this adorable fleece pink bed, beautiful soft teddy bear, and enough toys to make your eyeballs pop out! The only problem was, my brothers and sisters couldn't get their paws off *my* stuff, especially the Yeowww!!! catnip bananas, apples, and lemons!!! Riley went in *my* bed and liked it so much he took a nap in *my* bed in the middle of the hallway!! I decided not to kick him out since he looked so comfortable.

Mom finally took some pictures of me this afternoon with all the goodies but she waited until too late in the day so the picture that I'm in isn't very good. We'll be adding more pictures to my slideshow as soon as we can!

Thanks, Tink!!

Happy Birthday to Me!

May 1st 2007 7:47 am   [link to this entry]

Today I am 3 years old!

I received another package yesterday from Tinker!! I'm saving that one to open tonight on my very special day after Mom gets home from work and can take pictures of me. Tinker has been so excited about sending me something that I can hardly wait to see what's in the box! I'll let everyone know as soon as possible.

Thank you to my friends for your sweet Stars and Rosettes! You always know how to make a kitty very happy!

By the way, would anyone like a Furbie?

Another Delivery for Me!

April 26th 2007 10:25 pm   [link to this entry]

I was very excited that a package arrived for me today! I couldn't wait for Mom to help me open it. In the box was a beautiful gift basket from Sock, Simi, Jinx, Cinderella, Ashlye, and Awnee!! It contained a can of Kitty Kaviar, a fuzzy snake that can be filled with catnip, butterfly ball with catnip, a feather toy with catnip, an interactive "bird-on-a-wire" toy, flutter balls, fur balls, crazy curly plastic toys, and more! I had to check everything out before I shared with my brothers and sisters. We had fun with the box and wrapping too!

Thanks, Sock and family!

Babes in Blue Contest Prizes!

April 22nd 2007 11:45 pm   [link to this entry]

I was the first to check out the strange box that arrived yesterday. It smelled really....BLUE....and was addressed to "Sofie and Joy". I knew then it was our prizes from placing 3rd in the Babes in Blue contest earlier this month! Both Joy and I put the same slideshow on our pages so you could see the cool stuff we received.

A big THANK YOU to Apache for organizing this fun contest, the judges, and Dexter, the judge who donated our prizes!!!

Package #2 from Rocky Ann!

April 18th 2007 8:37 pm   [link to this entry]

I received my second package from Rocky Ann today! In addition to the cool teepee bed I got from her yesterday, I now have two Kitty Hoots Tail Chaser cat toys and a book called "Cattitude". The book is the feline guide to being fabulous, so I'll have to read up and see if I can find some tips on how I can be more fabulous than I already am. *giggles* I just added a picture of me playing with one of the toys.

Thanks, Rocky Ann!

This Birthday Girl is Spoiled but Never Rotten

April 17th 2007 11:54 pm   [link to this entry]

I received a surprise today! A big cardboard box sat on the front porch until Mom got home from work and brought it in. It had *my* name on it. I sniffed the box out real good first and then we opened it. That's when I saw something PINK with white polka dots. It was an adorable teepee bed for my birthday from Rocky Ann!! It's the first and only teepee bed in the house. The top part is held together with velcro strips and when you pull them apart you get a vaulted ceiling! My brothers and sisters wanted to get in it but I asked them not to until I checked it out first. Mom hurried to take pictures of me and my bed just so you could see. Isn't it cute? Rocky Ann told me there was something else coming in the mail for me from her too. Wow! Am I spoiled? Yes! But I'll never be rotten!

Thanks so much, Rocky Ann!!

Babes in Blue Contest

April 1st 2007 8:28 pm   [link to this entry]

The winners of the Babes in Blue contest were announced today and I tied for third place with my sister Joy so we both won! I was described as "Cosmopolitan in Blue". Sounds so sophisticated and stylish!

Congrats to all the winners! The organizers and judges did a great job! What a difficult task that must've been.

Fresh in Time for Super Bowl and the Wedding!

February 3rd 2007 5:01 pm   [link to this entry]

Mom thoroughly cleaned our Litter-Robots today and they smell fresh! Phew! I think it even made my Mom feel fresh. Afterall, having eight kitties in the house can really fill things up fast, if you know what I mean. It doesn't help that I am such a lightweight that sometimes I leap into the box without using the step that triggers the sensor to clean the waste. So, I'm feeling fresh for Super Bowl Sunday. Nice to know there will be clean litter boxes to run to during breaks.

Aside from that, as Mercy mentioned in her diary, I'm going to be a bridesmaid....again! First we were in Hazel Lucy's and Buddie's wedding, and this time we'll be in Samantha's and Shadow's wedding on Valentine's Day! Samantha chose rose-pink for her color theme. Pink! My favorite color.

Neck-naked and Lovin' It

November 21st 2006 10:30 pm   [link to this entry]

Neck-naked? Yes, we had our holiday pictures taken a couple of days ago and Mom removed the collars off of the girls. She decided to leave them off to give our necks a break and could see how the fur around our necks were a bit matted. I feel like I've lost a few pounds. Besides, that new "dog" collar Mom bought me was too wide for little ole' me but I never complained as long as it didn't keep me from eating my chicken. It's been really nice to get those little finger scratches around my neck in places I haven't gotten them in a long time. If I had it my way, I'd never have to wear a collar or tag again but somehow I doubt it.

Whale?

October 8th 2006 4:08 pm   [link to this entry]

I've heard from Ziggy several times since he went to the Bridge. He is doing well and told me about the beautiful fish he's caught and how delicious they are. He also sleeps on a luxurious red velvet blanket.

Ziggy knows how much I can eat without gaining weight, so when I told him I was drooling over the fish he'd been eating, he wrote back and told me he'll send me a whale! I just hope it'll be cut up because I doubt a whale would fit in our house!

My Friend Ziggy Went to the Bridge 09/09/06

September 10th 2006 9:52 am   [link to this entry]

Ziggy passed away yesterday from a tick bite that paralyzed him. He was a very special friend of mine that lived happily in Australia. We would typically write to each other during late hours Catster time. Ziggy was always so upbeat and we would sometimes critique each other's pictures, talk about how he might find a "crush", and recently, how his Mom just bought a digital camera and was taking so many new pictures of him. I went into shock last night when I received the pawmail from him that he had passed yesterday. The letter was painful to read but was so endearing.

Ziggy will live on Catster forever as he will in the hearts of the family who loved him. I will be keeping in touch with him as he continues his life at the Bridge. Now we all have another Angel watching over us.

Where's Sofie?

August 27th 2006 5:13 pm   [link to this entry]

Dear Diary,

Mom and Dad realized this morning that they had not seen me around waiting for my chicken fix. They started looking all over the house for me, under the bed, furniture, and behind closed doors. Then Mom took the cooked chicken out of the fridge and knew I definitely wasn't in the house when I didn't come running for some.

Dad went out to the backyard, since we get to play out there at least once a day, and worried that Mom had forgotten to check that I was in the house last night. Being a shy kitty, I am really not the type to venture out on my own. Dad started calling my name while looking over the fence in neighboring yards. We do have a Cat Fence-in containment system, but Mom went out to the front of the house anyway, and started looking for me in the bushes. Then she heard my tiny meow as I responded to her voice. She then realized I was still in the backyard so she went back and found me huddled behind a small storage shed, grabbed me, and brought me back in the house. I was so hungry but she gave me chicken right away and apologized.

What's with Mom? Has she forgotten how to count since we got my new baby sister, Joy? I think she should go sit in the corner with a dunce hat!

Sofie

I Smell a Rat!

August 6th 2006 2:22 pm   [link to this entry]

We have a lemon tree in the backyard and left some lemons unpicked. We've done that in the past, but this time I noticed something that I thought was odd. Every day, I'd look at the lemon tree through the window and would see one or two that were completely missing their skins but the remainder of the lemons would be hanging perfectly on the tree. This happened for a few days. At first I thought that maybe the squirrels were to blame until I actually caught a glimpse of a rat climbing the branches. I rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn't seeing things until I saw it again through the leaves. Sooooo....I made a mad dash to tell Mom, who quickly went outside and picked all of the remaining lemons and disposed of them. We sure didn't think we had any rats in the neighborhood but we were glad to get rid of them from our yard, at least!

Back to my rat patrol duties....

My Dad

Some of the reasons why I think Dad is special:

1. Mom had her eyes on me at the adoption fair inside the pet store they shop at. It was my first time there. After Mom carried me for awhile, she handed me over to my Dad. When Mom asked Dad what he thought about adopting me, he quickly responded by saying, "I don't have a problem with it", and they weren't even planning to adopt a kitty that day nor had they previously discussed adopting one in the future.
2. Dad never yells and is patient. He knows I'm a shy kitty, so he takes care not to spook me in any way. It's paid off cuz' I just love to rub against his legs and will jump on his lap, especially when there's chicken or steak involved. Then he gets so excited when I'm on his lap that he'll quietly call out to my Mom to look.
3. Dad knows how much I love to chase the laser light, so when the others are trying to take over, he pretends that he's put it away so that they leave and then finds me so we can continue playing.
4. I got my nickname "Sofie Little" from my Dad.

I love my Dad!

Life is Good When There's Chicken

May 20th 2006 7:58 pm   [link to this entry]

Dear Diary,

While Mom, Dad, and the dogs were away for four days this week, our neighbor Kim came to check on us several times each day. Mom warned her that I would probably run under the bed when she came over, since I am especially shy with strangers. She was right!

Kim always knew where to find me but would always try to talk to me while I was under the bed. On the second day, she decided to boil chicken for us, which is my all-time favorite! There she was, looking at me under the bed, and I could smell the chicken in her hand with my little nose. I stuck my head out, gently took the chicken from her hand, and went back under the bed to eat it. After she did that a few times, I decided she was a pretty cool human. She started seeing me out and about more often after that.

I was glad when Mom and Dad came home though. As soon as I heard Mom calling my name, I went running to her and haven't been under the bed since. Then I heard Dad calling me "Sofie Little" and started rubbing against his legs. That's when he knew that it was time to open the fridge to get me some more of that good chicken that Kim made for us.

Life is always good when there's chicken.

My Birthday - May 1st

May 1st 2006 10:38 pm   [link to this entry]

Today is my birthday and I have been having fun celebrating it with my Catster friends since this past weekend! I've eaten so much food, played so many games, and received the nicest presents, such as a day at the Kitty Spa, a gift certificate at PetSmart, clothes, toys, and flowers.

I had a nice steak and chicken dinner with my family tonight, and it was delicious! There are advantages to being a small kitty who can eat alot and not put on weight, so that I can get extra servings. After dinner, we had a big chase game going on around the house and made lots of happy kitty noises. Then we all had treats for dessert.

Thanks again to all my kitty friends for all your messages, fish treats, and lovely rosettes! I look forward to partying with you more the rest of this week!

Special Moments with my Dad

March 12th 2006 9:12 pm   [link to this entry]

Dear Diary,

All the other cats and the dogs were sleeping while Mom and Dad were having dinner tonight. I jumped up on one of the chairs and sat nicely to watch them eat. Dad gave me bits of steak and it sure was good! I am one of the lucky ones who can eat alot (and I do) and not put on weight.

After dinner, I followed Dad to the couch to watch TV. I started rubbing up against him, purring, cooing, and flopping on my back. Dad was so thrilled he looked at my Mom in shock but kept petting me and talking to me. While that may not sound like a big deal to most people, it is a big deal. You see, I was very shy towards my Mom and Dad when I first came here. I was never mean but very skittish. They loved me just the same, always talking to me, and never forcing themselves on me. I went from running from them to running to them to rub against their legs. And, tonight, it was a rare moment for me to show Dad my affections in the way that I did.

Dad is still talking to my Mom about it, saying that he and I are the best of friends! Silly Dad, and being the ex-Marine that he is, he sure is a softie. Hey, softie, when you take away the "t", is Sofie! Maybe he and I really do have a special connection............

My Annual Check-up

January 3rd 2006 10:39 pm   [link to this entry]

Dear Diary,

Mom and Dad took me to see the lady in the white coat (vet) last Saturday for my annual check-up. I cried in the carrier because I hadn't been in it for awhile and didn't know what was going on. Good thing the car ride was short.

I was a little nervous in the exam room and didn't like having my temperature taken nor did I like being squeezed here and there, but I was much calmer as long as Mom was talking to me and I could lean against her. The good news is that I'm healthy and I still only weigh 6lbs!

As soon as we got home and the door to the carrier was opened, I flew upstairs and ran under the bed. I didn't come out for two hours but when I did, I got to eat chicken in a room all by myself without having to share. That was the best part of the day!

I wish every kitty good health and few visits to the vet's office!

Until next time...

It's a Small World

October 2nd 2005 1:06 pm   [link to this entry]

Dear Diary,

Here I am, six months since I wrote my last diary entry, and I haven't gained an ounce! Being a lightweight can have it's advantages, especially at our house. I'm still eating as much as I want and playing hard without running out of breath. Add a dose of shyness, some sensitive humans, and you know how you'll be treated.

Recently, I've discovered it's quite fun to jump up on the top shelf of the computer desk and do some redecorating once I get there. I'm no Martha Stewart but I find some interesting books, knick knacks, and artificial greenery that need the Sofie touch. None of the others can help with this task better than I can because they can't eyeball a spot to jump up on with confidence that they'll land safely, due to their larger sizes.

It's a beautiful Sunday, and also the day mom boils chicken for us. I've been sitting in front of the stove watching the steam from the pot, enjoying the aroma of what I know will end up in my little tummy, and with no worries about whether I'll still fit into last year's outfits or not.

Kitty hugs,

Sofie

Petite Power!

March 29th 2005 5:45 am   [link to this entry]

Dear Diary,

Don't let my small size fool you! I may be petite for my age and have a tiny meow, but I can leap to the highest spots faster than any of my brothers and sisters, gobble up a whole chicken breast, and get away with doing alot of so-called naughty things because I am a bit shy, so I get extra TLC. Yeah, I have them wrapped around my little paws alright!

I like to chase my sister Mercy around because she thinks she's hot. I manage to get a rise out of her enough so that she turns around and nips me on my backside while I'm running away laughing, so I let out a big squeal and Mercy gets in trouble. Yeah, big trouble....she gets called away and gets a treat! But then, so do I, so it's all worth it!

Now I have a new baby sister they call Pebbles who is quite feisty! We chase each other around too but then I get bored after awhile because she stops and gets interested in toys! She'll probably grow up to be bigger than me but it won't matter, as I'll always be the one to exhibit the true meaning of Petite Power!

Winks,

Sofie

A New Year, a New Brother

January 2nd 2005 5:44 am   [link to this entry]

Dear Diary,

I looked at myself in the mirror this morning and noticed I've gotten a bit "rounder". I like to eat whenever any of my brothers or sister eat, especially Milo, who eats alot, so I'll just blame it on them for ruining my girlish figure!

My favorite game to play at home is to chase the light coming from the laser pen. Mom and dad think that I follow them around to be petted but it's really because I'm waiting for them to bring out the laser pen. I could chase that thing like a crazy kitty all day long!

Oh, they brought home a new little brother the day after Christmas. I had to bop him on the head a few times to let him know I'm the little baby princess in the house! But, now I see that he just wants to be my friend so I've cut him some slack. I'm really starting to like him because he's my size and mom even caught me rubbing up against him. I think we're going to be good friends!

Gotta go now!

A Cat Prayer

November 2nd 2004 12:42 am   [link to this entry]

Dear Diary,

I have been in my forever home for almost a month now. I have a loving brother named Milo who grooms and hugs me all the time and a playful sister named Mercy who will always be a kitten at heart. Then there's my humans, mom and dad, who feed me, talk to me, give me rubbies, and make that red light dance around the house! There are two dogs here and that puppy named Quincy is the one who seems really interested in me. We stare at each other alot. If he would just quit chasing me I wouldn't even bother to run!

When mom first put this pink polka dot thing around my neck I didn't like it so I started scratching to make them think I had fleas, but they knew better. Then mom hung this metal heart thing on it with my name on the front and address on the back and it felt like it weighed more than I did! I guess it's so they won't forget what my name is. Oh, and that's the reason why my name is spelled Sofie instead of Sophie, so that it fit better on the tag. Silly humans.

I know I have food, toys, litter box, lots of warm places to sleep, other furry animals for company, and most of all, love. Yes, I love this place and I'm here to stay.

Mom says it's late and time for me to go to bed, but not before I say a prayer...........

A CAT PRAYER

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice.
I pray for gourmet kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back.
For window sills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I'll always stay real cool,
And keep the secret feline rule,
To never tell a human that,
The world is really ruled by cats.
